Its scary how often it's been said it only happens in the movies and it all actually the story from the movie actually comes from a real event. Don't mind me, I'm in my own little bubble right now😂

Hey Jamie! Back in the 80’s there was a Entertainment Exec that managed kids in Hollywood (corey Feldman being one). He owned an nightclub for Hollywood kids and IIRC ice cream was the theme. Considering Pearlman was “creepy” as you say, that Ice Cream club with the male strippers could have been a dog whistle to the other “creeps” of Hollywood and the movie could be a discreet display of his roster to offer up for them.

Honestly? It even feels like videos and posts discussing it are suppressed from algorithms. Prime example: I have watched all of Jaime's videos when they initially dropped for years. I never knew this one existed until I scrolled her profile to rewatch some older content and found it there, amongst all the ones I'd already seen??? I watched all of her older videos (up until this year-ish) on a different account but I always had notifications set to "all" for her (as I do for all of my fav KZbinrs). Also - I *never once* saw any advertising or interviews posted for Lance's documentary or anything else about "The Boy Band Con" - had to go looking through dozens of unrelated search results on Google just now when trying to find more, as well.

Gilbert Gottfried hosted Up All Night on Fridays, and Playboy Bunny Rhonda Sheer hosted on Saturdays, they did comedy skits and commentary of the movie between commercial breaks, and the movies they played were usually 80s raunch comedies (imagine American Pie with 80s fashion, and lingo, with bleeped profanity, and blurred/pixilated boobs as well), which I wasn't a fan of as a little kid, but they'd also play horror movies (especially around Halloween, and they had a Friday The 13th movie marathon on every Friday The 13th), which I loved. And of course I knew of Gottfried from the Problem Child movies, Def Jam's How To Be A Player (a hood comedy movie from the 90s), and Iago the parrot in Aladdin.

I distinctly remember a reality tv show where Lou Pearlman heavily featured as this boyband maestro who has the recipe for success. The end result of the show was the band US5. I always assumed it was an American production but looking into it it was produced by the German TV station RTL II in the early 2000s when casting shows like Popstars were extremely popular over here. The show was called "Big in America". Btw what is said about his business strategies and how he ripped off the artists with unfair contracts sounds a lot like what's happening in K-Pop with the entertainment companies.

It’s never who you think it is either. Michael Jackson was framed (in my opinion based on the actual evidence) while the real ones roam free. Those who actually call them out (Corey Feldman is questionable..asked for $10million to expose his abusers) meet their untimely fate. Isaac Kappy is a good place to start.

Lou Pearlman is one of the most disgusting people, I was deeply saddened while watching Lance Bass’s documentary (it’s free on KZbin), to learn of how much pain our favorite boy bands performers experienced because of him 😔 but it’s important to know. This comment 100% also applies to KPOP artists and their situations which are on a level of..... it's so bad I can't even think of a word. These kids are literally kids who are groomed and worked over nonstop for years and years before ever finding out if they are cut or in a group and then if they are "lucky" to be in a group they are fully giving themselves over for even longer now until they age out in hopes that they are successful. It's heartbreaking. KPOP artists are seen as machines, machines that make money for lots of people and once those machines start to breakdown or look like they will be breaking down they are pushed to the side for a new model. Everything they wear, do, and say is scrutinized and approved by their records companies and owners, it's very rare for any of them to really be able to be 100% themselves like we have in the states and other parts of the world. It's a sad. Lou Pearlman was truly one of the worst people and it's a good thing he was finally busted on his Ponzi scheme because that stopped him from being able to hurt and traumatize anyone else.
