Dr. Ian Oswald Guinness, born on September 30, 1941, in Hsiang Cheng, China, is an English author, theologian, and social critic currently residing in Fairfax County, Virginia, since 1984. Of Irish descent and the great-great-great-grandson of Dublin brewer Arthur Guinness, he returned to England in 1951 for secondary school and college. Guinness holds a Bachelor of Divinity degree from the University of London and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oriel College, Oxford. A prolific writer, he has authored over 30 books addressing cultural, political, and social issues. Guinness was a leader at the L'Abri community in Switzerland in the late 1960s and later served as Executive Director of the Williamsburg Charter Foundation. In 1991, he co-founded the Trinity Forum and played a key role in drafting The Global Charter of Conscience. Currently living in McLean, Virginia, with his wife Jenny, Guinness is associated with the Anglican Church in North America and is a Senior Fellow with the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics.

Hi Tammy. When you were sick and at your worst I asked (from the alter) all in attendance (large crown) at a RC church to pray for you. None of them had heard of you but they prayed for you. I hope our prayers played some part in your miracle cure. God bless you and your family. 🙏🙂

Oh what a JOY, dear Tammy, I so appreciated Dr. Peterson’s conversation with Dr. Guinness and this will be just as wonderful. I am overjoyed you and Dr. Peterson will be in New England next year, close enough for me to come see Dr. Peterson speak for the first time! Hoping SO MUCH that the mold treatment is going well for you and Dr. Peterson and could lead to some relief of pain and inflammation. So unspeakably happy for you both to be with Mikhaila and the grands, born and unborn, at this time. I myself am listening to this podcast whilst home with sick kiddos. With Ruth Anne’s love. ❤

I really regret looking back that I thought my strength, my health, and my deeds were being done through myself. I know now that it was all gifts of God. Now, in my weakness, I am so grateful for the way he made me strong and healthy. Anything I am able to do now is through God's grace, love, and mercy. Glory to our loving, God almighty.

This is my second comment. I was looking forward to listening to this video. I knew I would like it because I love both Tammy and Os. Now that I have listened I just have to say that this conversation was just thrilling. It is one of the best conversations I have heard. I recently read Os’s book “Signals of Transcendence.” I have been thinking about it ever since. I expected to hear wonderful things from Os, and Tammy you added so much wisdom to the conversation. I loved the prayer and story at the end: “Lord set over us leaders such that it will be for your glory to give the victory through them today.” I prayed that prayer and will continue to pray it. Such a great prayer. Thank you for this encouragement. I will be sharing this with gusto! Bravo!

"Jesus prayed for unity among his followers, but he did not desire uniformity. Sin creates a dead level of evil inertia, but righteousness nourishes the creative spirit of individual experience in the living realities of eternal truth and in the progressive communion of the divine spirits of the Father and the Son. In the spiritual fellowship of the believer-son with the divine Father there can never be doctrinal finality and sectarian superiority of group consciousness." The Urantia Book, Paper 182, Section 1. Thank you, Tammy Peterson and Dr. Os Guinness, and God bless you both.

1:09 Become who you can become has an inherent danger. It often leads to cultishness because it starts with the premise that you are not good enough but someone who has done more becoming can show you the way. This cultivates the soul in a way leads to dependency on a daddy figure. It feels good in the short term because it gives you a sense of direction. In the long term, however, it leads to a ramish butting of the heads over who has done the best becoming, which is ultimately just an ego trip. Don't worry, Jesus has got you. Love your neighbour. Be good to each other. Game on.

7:11 By crisis of meaning, Mr Guiness, do you mean people's being at cross purposes in life? If you'll permit me, much of my suffering comes from the purpose to which others put me and not from a failure to have a purpose for myself. In fact, the healthiest and most joyful period in my life was the pandemic, as I was relased from being a cog in another man's money making machine for just a little while. I actually had the freedom to void my bowels when they needed to be voided. How wonderful. Whatismore, It allowed me to pursue studies and exercise as needed to maintain health. It was the healtiest and happiest period of my life. A problem for me is that I am used as an entry in a ledger, a person whose very existence is to add to the ease and accumulation of wealth in situations that are detrimental to my health and well-being for the another person's benefit. So many of us are reduced to a mere economic function by our so-called betters and berated for not enjoying it. It is what it is, my friend.

11:43 How are we supposed to raise a family when so many of the new homes are being bought up by investment firms? This reassertion of tradition you are calling for is actively thwarted by economic trends. Are you trying to give people an improbable mission to stoke frustration to create a war? Because without changes to macroeconomic trends around property holding, what you are encouraging is impracticable and likely to lead to violence, or increased Guiness consumption. Either way, not bad for you, eh

5:59 Mrs. Peterson, it is merely a breakdown in the comminication chain and good faith. These darned lighboxes have habituated us to putting out a message and being alert for validation, which is not real communication. When we rediscover a sincere desire to understand our interlocuter and the skills to carry it out, all shall be well again. Mr. Guiness' parents are correct. God has all in ✋ ✋ ✋. Don't panic.

6:15 We must hold on to each other for God's sake. He made us a dimorphic species and made us with souls capable of communion for a reason. Have faith. And please stop telling people we are all lost and at war. Most people know where they are until they spend so much time being told they are lost that they haven't the freedom to work it out. It is not good or Godly to cultivate a war within a person's soul only to give them the peace that comes with the certainty of being told who to fight. However enriching it may be for the man who profits thereby, it is not what the good Lord made us for. It not of the Holy Spirit. It is an abuse of scripture.

I felt moved to share this personal true testimony. God told me this story is important for the evil atheist demoncrats to hear but I hope it edifies all the super loving Christians as well as my fellow Saints and Trump supporters. I was doing my morning ocean swim in shallow water when I was attacked by a shark and I barely made it back to shore. A large part of my thigh was missing and I was losing so much blood...I knew I was a goner and would never be able to make it for help. But then out of nowhere a surfer showed up, he looked exactly like Jesus, the white version. On that day I witnessed one set of foot prints in the sand leading away from where I laid. I called out..."hey Jesus looking dude...are you just going to just leave me here"? And he said.."do you know how much you weigh...hell yeah". And then I died. But don't worry I came back three days later. Proof! How could I have written this if I didn't come back from the dead? The End. By the way, I did find the Jesus looking dude after I came back from the dead. Ironically his name was Jesus but with the Spanish pronunciation. He was in awe of my miracle recovery from death and has become one of my apostles. I am sure my story will be written about in about a hundred years. Now is a great time to get in on the ground floor...I am sure there is a lot of money to be made.ere now is my personal testimony.

0:50 Isn't the will to power more Nieztchean. That is not post-modern. The trouble with post-modernism is that it replaced analytic philosophy, which gave us a shared framework for the discussion of objective reality and a means for ascertaining truth, with sophistry and dilettantism. I am sorry Mr. Frenchman, you can teach an Enlishman how to cook (not how to enjoy sensuality like you, we are not built that way), but you can't hold a candle to our philosophical endeavour and political common sense. It is not that we need to make everyone run back to religion en masse to find meaning, though it is good because a life honouring and replicating the essence of love with our rational faculty is good, because this way lies authoritarianism amd the abandomemt not rediscovery of freedom from sophistical claptrap. What we need is to move beyond the exploitation of philosophy as a means to an end other than truth for its own sake. Enough sophistry with the laudable goal of ending prejudice and discrimination, though we ought not give up on extirpating prejudice and discrimination.

0:23 You used two different meanings of meaning, purpose and linguistic sign. Please disambiguate your use of language in order to better support your claim. Perhaps the real crisis of meaning is that you don't know the meanings of meaning well enough to speak meaningfully.

Are you trying to stoke a war? Because by calling for a return to tradition that is actively thwarted by economic policy, you are likely to get frustrated people who go to war against their own society.
