stumbling upon this is like going back in time! I remember being so obsessed with the crocodile hunter as a kid I got to go to the zoo a few years ago and it was the most amazing experience

I know a lot of people say this but Steve was my personal hero. When I learned that he died I was only in grade 7 so maybe 12 or 13. It was my first experience of losing someone precious. Growing up in Queensland Australia it was different he was the local celebrity always on tv shows or the news.Almost 15 years later and many people still remember him and more importantly his message and what he wanted to teach the world. Miss ya Steve.

3 years ago I flew from Philippines to Beerwah Queensland Australia just to see the Zoo and it was dream come true for me and I would never forget it for the rest of my life.

You know, this is just me, but I think they should make a movie about Steve Irwin (like how they did for Temple Grandin or Disney's "Saving Mr. Banks"). No, I don't mean the Collision Course movie (but that was a good and fun movie), but an actual movie about his life. After seeing these sorts of episodes and reading biographies (along with "Steve and Me" by Terri Irwin), there are LOADS of life events in Steve's life that I think should be on TV (especially some in Terri's book). Anyone else agrees with me?
@joshscomputer9 жыл бұрын
You know, there was a rumour a few years ago that Russell Crowe would play him in a biopic, but he said something along the lines of he isn't sure anyone could pull off a performance like that

If I had a time machine I would stop him from dying.

He would just die again. Maybe in a worse way or driving his kids or something or getting someone else hurt.

Steve himself holding some still born snakes said "where there is life there is death". He was very very. very good at risk management but accidents happen and an accident that cost us all an awful lot - what an inspiration in this cynical world of ours? I celebrate his life. I think the best thing to do is to get on with the Work that unites us all - including Steve's family. Oh and if you find a Time Machine and need help, count me in! Amen.

Animal planet only ever rly lived because of him
@agabrielhegartygaby92033 ай бұрын
I am going to disagree with you only for one reason: yes he died but he did so showing us all how to live not just save wonderful animals, nature, our planet. His early death does not negate his life. Steve himself said that where there is life there is also death. He was very good at managing risk. His death was an accident. Awful painful upsetting existential: it is why every single moment is precious because none of us knows when......I think there are folks who would love those of us who loved Steve and supported hiss work - which continues - these folks would love to think his mission is now over and they can go ahead and maybe sneakily undo his work. Don't let them grind you down with their cynicism and misery. We lost him too young. but his work - THE work, continues. I totally appreciate and honor the feeling however.....excuse this longwinded attempt to be supportive. Apologies if I have over stepped. G

What a great human being: my attitude to zoos come in 2 1/2s: before Steve Irwin and Australia Zoo and After. Before I saw them as little better than circuses or God forbid like the poor croc in the concrete enclosure....because of him I love Salty Crocodiles and am glad, if we had to lose him, we lost him with him doing the work he loved. My grandmother used to say that God brings the Saints home early.....yep, if there are Saints, Steve is one. (As a Catholic we are taught to recognize saints by the way they inspire others to do good.....yep! a Saint....and a miracle worker too: I now contribute to zoos....miracle see? Your loss must be very very tough - know that the rest of us look on a wish only that we could help you do what you think is right to continue the work so important to all of us. Steve reminded us that the project, the work, is something greater than any of us and worth doing. To his family I would say thank you for sharing this man with the rest of us. Nothing can compare with his familys' grief but it's not a grief you carry alone. G
