You know what's a really amazing, clean food? There's this dish and the only thing I've heard people call it is California bowls. It's cooked cooled grains, cookable salad with tons of greens (I like to jazz up the store-bought stuff with a ton of bok choy and raw shredded Brussel sprouts), cooked usually pulled meat, and a dressing. For the dressing, I like just lemon or lime juice, 0% greek yogurt, an avocado, grated jalapeno, and dried basil. I'm that odd guy who's a working bloke living a normal life, spending 25 mins a day in the gym most of the year but a few times a year I'll book two weeks off. I use that time to clean up my diet, which is already like 90% clean anyway and spend three hours a day in the gym training for rugby, and just get shredded. I'll go to time off as a size medium and come back an XL. California bowls are what I eat on my time off. I start off with a big oatmeal, then gym, lunch is chicken, broccoli, and rice, and then dinner is California bowls; other than that it's cottage cheese or hummus.

They way I heard it was that refined sugars affect dopamine levels which have a similar effect in your brain to cocaine. Or something like that. Great update as always! I've been trying to adjust my macros recently. Been on a cut so I had been basically low carb dieting. Now I am working off my TDEE and it's telling me to hit 500G of carbs daily an overall 4k calorie intake for 2x a day training. Been rough trying to eat so many carbs, lol!

Keto diet saved my life! One solid year, 45lbs gone off meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. Went from 42 waist to 32. gave me the energy to start crossfit.
@themaxjenkinson7 жыл бұрын
It works a lot different on different people. For high-intensity work, your body prefers to burn glucose and not fat therefore you should not be in ketosis when competing if you want to perform to your best ability. A keto diet is often very good for overall health though.
@1GAC19697 жыл бұрын
Lost 105#s on Keto, got a girlfriend who is a feeder and gained 80#s back!! Been water fasting for 2 days(going 4) then full Keto till I'm back to 235#. I have never felt as good as I do running on Ketones, I realize it's not for everyone but it is unbelievable for me!!
@Emilyspace_7 жыл бұрын
Carbs are immediately available fuel for your body, and incredibly important for high performing athletes. You'll never see Rich Froning, Mat Fraser, Katrin Davidsdottir, or Tia Toomey going carb free, or even low carb.
