Escape To The Dream, Restoring The Château.

Escape To The Dream, Restoring The Château.

2 жыл бұрын

Bonjour à tous,
This week at the château, Terry starts work on the crumbling salon windows. With the bad weather now setting in it is a race to get as many sorted as possible and with the salon having 6 pieces of glass missing it is a priority to get the sorted, especially if the family want any change of spending Christmas in the salon.
Ash cracks on with more work in the third floor and fits some coving in the petit salon to give it that like château feel.
If you would like to join us on our family journey restoring this once abandoned château, please just follow the link below, 🥰
/ chateaudelalacelle
ABOUT US.
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Me and my husband just love watching your progress every week and are so impressed with the work you all do. The cottage is looking really lovely, we can’t wait to see it all finished and are really looking forward to seeing it all decorated for Christmas. The windows look great once treated and filled, well done! Finally, would just like to say what a gorgeous little boy Jonathan is, he’s such a credit to you all. Keep up the good work and thank you for keeping us entertained every Wednesday and Sunday.

Boy the years of neglect has really taken a toll on the beautiful windows ... So glad you are restoring them properly. They will look new when you finish totally next year. Crown molding makes and finishes a room. That looks so good. Wow, that does a great job, looks original again once you get the paint on. It has to be so satisfying for you to see this transformation!

It's a lot of hard work to repair the windows rather than replace them with reproduction ones, but it will be worth it in the long run. I always think it's better to repair than replace where you can and to retain the heritage/original features. It's all starting to come together and I can't wait to see the finished cottage and bedrooms

What a relief it must be to have the windows in the salon done, Terry. All snug and cozy now for your family Christmas! You did a super job and just as you said, good as new.
