Aroldis chapman sounds like me but taller and black tbh. Ive abnormally strong by around double (Guessing cause both my parents are) Im extremely fast, i can competitively compete with my state track friend whos in condition while im not, and i have hypermobility. Im working on making my mechanics as smooth as possible which looks like they'll be really good in 2-3 months. And its my 2nd year of baseball and im able to throw around 75+mph as a freshmen 5'10 229 pounds. It's a pain in the ass though to get stretched and warmed up before activities though :/ I just need a growth spurt to 6'4 and ill be good.... Maybe a skin color change for the +5mph dominican perk.

Excellent job! This video helped me understand that in order to reach your full potential as a pitcher you must understand the entire process. It is more than throwing weighted balls or spin rates. Although important, it is also understanding your body and its weaknesses in areas like mobility, flexibility and elasticity and the need to train in these areas to get the most out of your delivery. Very few have the genetics of Chapman. If you are a serious player you need to get an evaluation of your body movements so the proper training program can be created to help you reach your full potential.

Dipping the chin is something that I have heard before. I was watching Tex A&M ballgame and they had Roger Clemens on the broadcast. I believe A&M was playing in a tournament. Anyway, one of the pitchers from A&M had worked with the Rocket in the offseason. Roger mentioned the “chin tuck” was a que for himself to not lift or tilt his front shoulder UP. When Roger didn’t “chin tuck’ his front shoulder would tilt up.

I would like to know what your thoughts on all the current arm injuries.
@treadathletics3 жыл бұрын
Part of it is a byproduct of more guys throwing hard, and the incentives to pitch at the highest level being stronger than ever. Guys know they more or less have to throw 95 mph to get signed, so they are forced to do everything possible to have a chance at extending their careers. We have more advanced training methods to increase the size of guys engines but understanding arm stress and mechanics as a baseball industry hasn't quite caught up to our understanding on the training side. It's remarkably difficult to stay healthy throwing at that capacity, even if all the variables are properly controlled and you aren't making any obvious training/workload/mechanical errors. Throwing max effort on every pitch is significantly more stressful than cruising at 85% effort like pitchers used to do. This is a reason I gave in the video as to how Chapman may have been able to stay healthy, because he only throws 50-60 innings a year.

Do you think long toss is more beneficial than throwing into a net with a radar gun? I personally think long toss gives better visual feedback. Still, it's always great to literally know the velocity of a throw and practice a lower trajectory throw similar to pitching on a mound.

What do you think is the most affective way to train the quick twitch muscles
@treadathletics3 жыл бұрын
Heavy weight lifting does train fast twitch fibers but once a strength threshold is reached we use more dynamic effort loads and variations. So you can still do squats, lunges or deadlifts, but the variations and loads will be different. You might be doing band resisted squats with 50% of your max, speed push-ups with a light band, or power dumbbell bench measuring the velocity with a VBT sensor. We've extrapolated a lot of the concepts from Triphasic training to baseball.

What I've been wondering is: When are they going to stop coddling pitchers? This is a topic I really want to learn more about. It seems to me that evidence paints the picture of diminishing returns on the idea of babying pitchers.
@treadathletics3 жыл бұрын
It's a balance. Coaches are stress managers. Insufficient stress doesn't drive adaptation and optimal results but excess stress skyrockets injury risk.
@TheSkyline54673 жыл бұрын
@@treadathletics I have to doubt that human physiology has changed so much in a couple decades that we can't build arms up like they did in earlier generations. With the caveat it seems like velocity is now the end all so more pitchers are starting games like a reliever would, more all out.
