The Cult is my Teens. Biggest influence on me in all ways including my becoming a musician. And one of the greatest days in my life in April of 1995 I got to work with the band and directly with Ian. I got to hang out with my idol all day.... long story but it was amazing. THe Cult is the shiz.

The band is still the duo of Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar)... the current band includes John Tempesta (drums), Charlie Jones (bass) and Mike Mangan (keyboards)... The 80s was an awesome time to grow up in ..we had the best music great movies and TV shows ...people used to look each other in the eye when talking instead of staring at a screen in their hand and people were just nicer but then the world was a nicer place back then to ...Great reaction 👍

I actually saw The Cult open for Billy Idol in concert back in the early 90's. And yes, I don't think it was any coincidence that Cult guitarist Billy Duffy modeled his look after Billy.

When Goths were still Batcavers….“Love” is a really good album, worth a listen. “Rain” and “Big Neon Glitter” are a couple tracks from it to check, if you’re needing more Cult.

Yeah, I saw them live in early 90s w/Lenny Kravitz opening for them. I didn't know Lenny yet and he killed it. Of course The Cult always killed it. Saw them another times in the mid-90s, still amazing. They've never stopped touring, I don't think? Ian & Billy are still out there killing it!

@@jenniferfoster1692 i remember one band that toured support for them in the mid 80's. they ripped of The Cult's vibe and style, HEAVILY influencing their musical direction. they ended up like a "hard-rock" version of The Cult. Pistols and Posies, they were called. something like that anyway. Rifles and Rhododendrons? Dakka and Daisies? it'll come to me.

This guy’s whole album in a banger! The album “Love” was released in 1985. I have this album still! In “Cassette!” You definitely should listen to more Cult” they still packing arenas whenever they play! Great band! They’re ghotic, post punk, alternative hard rock band.👌😎👍

Great band, originally known as the 'Southern Death Cult', then 'Death Cult' then finally 'The Cult'. A couple of other great tracks by them, "Spiritwalker", "Fire Woman" there are plenty of great tracks from this band. Another band from around the same time is, 'Killing Joke' tracks to check out, "Eighties", and "Love Like Blood", they have loads of great tracks but these are a good place to start.

The CULT are still an active band. They do tour regularly so you can go see them and Ian's voice is still amazing. Every album has its own unique style, something they got criticized for over the years, but each one is great for different reasons.

I saw Ian Astbury when he was the lead singer of The Doors Of The 21st Century. He took the place of Jim Morrison, sang alongside the Keyboard player and Guitarist from the original band The Doors. Excellent concert.

I guess I am an old man. The Cult was - and is - awesome. They're on my playlist. If you want different vibes, Try "Edie (Ciao Baby)." A great and pretty unique power ballad. But, yeah, the 80s was a time of amazing music - classic REM (not the later tripe), The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, The Dead Kennedys, New Order, Black Flag, The Ramones, The Clash... All good.

Millie, I DJ'd back in the 80's and 90's and this song was SO popular for a Rock-based dance tune, like an Alt-Rock banger. I would always mix this song with Billy Idol or The Cure, perhaps even some early U2. Great band!! The Cult have a TON of great songs!

Absolute unadulterated banger! Saw them in Bournemouth in England back in my Goth days. I do love the Cult. If you fancy trying some of their earlier material, Spiritwalker and Dreamtime are both good. Revolution is another great one from the Love album that includes She Sells Sanctuary.

I'm 57 so I bought this album when it came out.......on tape. I was only 12 when I saw Motorhead on both the Overkill & Bomber tours. Then The Ace of Spades, Iron Fist & finally Another Perfect day. But The Cult were just as good, they have a vast array of great songs. Try tracks off Sonic Temple. Anyone who's around my age had superb bands that you could go & see for as little as £3.00. I'm from B'ham, UK. And the Odeon on New Street was the venue of choice. My best concert may suprise some, but it was Krokus, Hardware. We had it good & I feel so lucky. I also knew the Band Diamond Head personally although they were a fair bit older, but I used to drink in Stourbridge. And they inspired a rather famous band called.....Metallica as Lars Ulrich actually lived with one of the band members. Listen to Am I Evil, their most famous song. Good Stuff.

I have been in love with Ian Astbury since the early 1980s. Billy Duffy is on guitar. Their first three albums, ' Love ', 'Electric' and 'Sonic Temple' are different style but each so very, very Cult. Yes, those are not the first albums they recorded together ( Moya, but that was under Southern Death Cult ).

The Cult blended a lot of styles together. They were part of the British post-punk scene, but they also had influences from hard rock, blues and psychedelia. A really creative and genuine band.

Ian Astbury was living in Hamilton Ontario Canada @ the age of eleven he spent a decade there probably picked up a lot of attitude and grit, living around the steel mill which he worked at. Called "Stelco Steel mill" probably harden him up. No pun intended. He says Hamilton for him is the “Hidden City,” which happens to be the title of their 10th studio album. This band is killer.. They sound the best when you crank it right up!🍺🍺
