Terrific vid, my friend. Just a little correction: The religion you're referring to that it's practiced here in Brazil are actually 2: Candomblé and Umbanda. There are others, but those are the main two. Both of them draw from similar roots from Voodoo, but they are NOT Voodoo. We have Voodoo practitioners here in Brazil, but they quite small in number, and mostly are from haitian immigrants over here. However, a lot of religious syncretism happens over here in Brazil, especially between the Catholic Saints, the Exú and the Orixás (and others), so I do not doubt there are some Terreiros over here that have dedicaded worship to certain Loa. I know there are some that offer worship to Baron Samedi and Mama Brigitte. I've seen them myself. That being said, I find it curious that Voodoo practitioners are clustered in Pacifica, when there's another place where I could easily see it prosper: Haywood. However, I think that would really spark a gang war inbetween the Voodoo Boys and the Valentinos, since Christianity is strong among them. Latin American spirituality is quite eccletic and mixed, though, so maybe it would not have a lot of issues in having mutual religious tolerance among them.

This is part of the reason why I like Cyberpunk. We can't rely on technological advancements to fix all of our problems. Sometimes it's systemic. Another example is Climate Change. Biotechnica has all kinds of insane technology that can transform Earth's biosphere... and yet the Earth is still suffering the effects of Climate Change on steroids. The insane sci-fi tech has failed to stop the problem.

Thank you for this very detailed and interesting video. I didn't even know how many different religions and cults are in this world, knew just about the ones that are more out there or more obvious. I for sure hope DDI wont become a thing in real life. Just as I hope rogue AIs wont become a real thing. But what is happening now is really close to go towards that direction. Some people want to make AIs as intelligent as they can and give them learning abilities. I hope the world is not too much alike with cyberpunk on year 2077. I dont think I live hundred years but if I do, I will see if Cyberpunk 2077 came true. I highly doubt the chromeparts or avs are possible for real but who knows how close it will get what comes to AIs.

Nice video! Just one correction, Voodoo or Voudoo actually has its origins in Haiti. Its a mixture of catholicism, african and indigenous carribean beliefs. This is why alot of the Voodoo boys and the population in pacifica is Haitian. I highly suggest watching religion for breakfasts video on the topic. Its really informative and helped me to dispell alot of misinfo i had about Voudoo.

Catholicism AND Christianity? Those…are the same thing. I don’t understand why they were listed separately as Catholicism was the only Christianity for centuries until the Orthodox Churches and then then Protestant churches. But they’re all Christian.

Interesting thanks for the video, but I do have a question: Is there a specific reason you skipped over Christianity (Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox), Islam, and Hinduism in the specifics? Or is it just because it’s no major difference/change in the Cyberpunk universe compared to our real world?

Not enough major differences to include in the video. I didn't want it to become a video where I just explained every major faith, but rather focus on those more tied to major events and the setting.

I'd recommend going on the Wikipedia for Cyberpunk by Mike Pondsmith and looking through the corebooks and all the supplements. That way you can choose which ones to read based on what they're about . There's supplements for space, rockerboys, solos, etc. Just start with whatever interests you most. The majority can be found in print on R Talsorians website, and the rest are pdf on drive thru rpg.

I can tell from some of these entries haven't been updated since the late twentieth century. The Nihilism entry for example reflects the common misunderstanding of the philosophy. Nihilism rejects external systems of morality in favor of developing internal ones, not the violent destruction of those external systems. The latter is a fearful misunderstanding of the philosophy and projection by those who think external systems are the only method of self-control and without them people will revert to a mindless and violent animalistic state. Satanism is one that I really hope gets expanded on. While the entry does fit the late twentieth century Satanic Temple atheistic rebellion of that time the rapid rise of Theistic Satanism, those who do worship Satan as a god, and the more generalized Left Hand Path occult practices would absolutely fit into the Cyberpunk world. Infernals have a better track record than the average corpo of keeping their promises and a charcater making a deal with an agent of an Infernal god is hardly more dubious than any other employer an Edgerunner would work for. As for DDI's beliefs that the new god is the Net, yes you are right and her name is AI Alt Cunningham. Given that power she wields in the game to bestow both death and immortality she's pretty much the Dark Goddess of the Net. All hail CyberHekate, or as some in the game call her, Lilith. :)
