I drove up from Baltimore to see the RnR HOF ceremony and I had a ball. I have been a diehard Cure fan since I was 15 and I am now 52. It was really cool to see many of the band members and to hear Robert acknowledge Matthieu Hartley, Phil Thornalley, and the late Andy Anderson and their contributions to the band. It was nice to additionally see Andy Anderson get an acknowledgement as one of the many performers who passed within the last year during the Hall's memoriam segment. It was a little sobering to hear 'Shake Dog Shake' knowing that Andy is no longer with us. He played this song exceptionally well on the Top album. I knew it was a pipe dream, but I was still hoping that Robert may play with some of the past band members at the ceremony. Oh well, it didn't happen but I thought the current lineup sounded fine. The guys got a huge ovation and my section and the crowd was going crazy singing along. I thought Trent Reznor was spot on when mentioning the rabid fanbase of the Cure. I often feel like Robert really does not truly get how much he and his bandmates have impacted many folks with these songs and albums.

@Allow me Hey buddy, I was thinking of you when they opened w/Shake Dog Shake. We have talked quite a bit through the years of Andy's contribution and time in the band and this period of the Cure. I was floored when I heard that Andy had passed. Really was initially bummed when I read that Andy, Phil, and Matthieu were not being inducted in w/the rest of the guys. Thought it was so cool that Robert acknowledged these three. It was really cool to hear the reception that the band got and to see so many in my section and throughout Barclays singing and dancing along to the songs. Just a very cool night and glad that I got to experience it. Thank God to the persons posting all this cool content of all the inductees and the sets. Between the two of us, I was really hoping for some reunions of the past lineups. I would have been done if Boris got behind the kit and Pearl could have played the guitar once again. However, it was not meant to be. Still great to see all the guys on stage again. Take care and long live the Cure!!!!

It was awesome seeing The Cure for the fourth time. Everything about their induction segment was great! Maybe it’s just me, but from where I was (Section 221) the ovations for The Cure seemed louder than anyone else’s. Either way, for this Louisiana Cure fan, it was an amazing evening! The Top has always been one of my favorite Cure albums. I agree that it often gets overlooked. Birdmad Girl and Piggy in the Mirror have those endless layers of melody that The Cure can seamlessly weave together better than anyone. Bananafishbones is pure psychedelic brilliance. So many outlandishly strange and completely catchy songs on that album. I feel almost guilty that I love The Top so much because Simon is one of my favorite bass players of all time, and really his bass was what absolutely drew me in the first time I ever heard the Cure- and he's not on The Top. Aside from the brilliant drums it's pretty much all Robert Smith in beast mode on that one. It's funny though how Simon-like the basslines are on that album.

Thanks to all the kind Cure lovers who watched and left comments. I go to every show I can, and get there at 7 am or pay as much as I can to be up front, though I don’t usually take videos. I try to stay in the moment and enjoy the experience and interaction with Simon and Jason who are always very sweet to me. Apologies for excessive camera motion, again I try to enjoy the performance and deliberately don’t hold watch the show in my phone (defeats the purpose of being there), and the people in front of me suddenly stood up when they recognized their more popular songs. When I attended the band’s rehearsal the night before (during which photography was not allowed), I realized so many of the “usual suspects” who so often eclipse me in terms of opportunities to spend time with the band (as a single female I must be a groupie, and cannot be taken seriously, right?), had failed to understand the importance of this event and would not be in attendance and therefore not posting videos- so I thought I’d better do so, because I know I’d want to watch if I couldn’t attend. A professional version will air on HBO in April, so critics can look forward to that. Love to all Cure fans 💋❤️💋

Thank you for posting! The Cure has been my favorite band since the first time I heard them. Like Mr. Reznor, my first experience of The Cure was hearing The Head on the Door 100 times in a row. Then promptly snagging up a copy of The Cure in Orange on VHS and then everything else they'd ever done. The Cure have been an enormous inspiration to me as a musician, they provided the soundtrack to my awkward teenage years, and the whole spectrum of emotions from my first kiss to the first time my heart was broken are still all tangled up in those songs as vivid as ever. The Cure had that spectrum covered and they were the band that truly woke me up to the devastating and wonderful power of music and for that I will always love them.

Sooo glad you posted this (solid camerawork, btw), brought me back to my very first concert (Head on the Door at Radio City '85) - still as great as all the times I've seen them. Thanks!

How do you define rock then?

@MYHOLLANDGIRL - The Cure are Alternative...Rock. Depeche Mode, on the other hand, don't belong to any Rock genre or sub-genre, they're Electro Pop (or Cold Wave, as we used to call it back in the day) but since there are so many non-Rock artists already in there, I wouldn't be surprised if they get inducted as well.

i lived a musically sheltered life as a child. my first exposure to the cure was in the form of "burn" on the crow soundtrack ... i fell in love with just about everything about that movie - first and foremost the soundtrack and score ... at the time the only other artists i was familiar with on that album were nine inch nails and stone temple pilots, and i had heard of henry rollins because a friend of mine was obsessed with him. (again, as mr. reznor pointed out in his intro, this was before the internet was in every home) i consumed as much music as i could find from just about every artist on that album. i was taken in by the cure's versatility: listen to burn and, say, just like heaven back to back and if weren't already familiar with the band and their music, you'd be hard-pressed to say it was the same group performing both songs (verified by my mother, who thought my compilation cure tape - courtesy of the local library - was in fact a mix tape). i have been in love with this band ever since, and was soooo happy to see them get inducted into the rrhof!! congratulations
