I feel like now was a better time than ever to make a My Hero Academia video on the manga after chapter 346 released this past weekend. Is the series actually horrible right now or are people overreacting? I stated months ago that My Hero Academia /Boku no Hero Academia around the Star and Stripes arc felt incredibly rushed, but has the story telling declined? Personally I don't think so and I think there's a lot of great potential here that Horikoshi-sensei is setting up! I actually can't wait to read MHA Chapter 347 this upcoming weekend!

I'm not sure if this will happen, because it feels a bit too predictable, but I feel like AFO/Shigaraki will be shot with a quirk erasing bullet by the end of the series. Similar to Avatar the Last Airbender.

Honestly, I dropped the manga when I felt that the author is not fully committed in making a satisfying ending/story overall. I've been burnt out by Attack on Titan manga ending, so I was more careful where I commit my attention to for reading manga.

In my personal opinion, there should have been a training arc before the last war. Having one will show Shinso and Monama's training (Since they played a big part, especially Monama)+ 1As and 1Bs. + I think they could have had a little down time. They could have had character interactions to the pivotal characters that will play a big part (since I'm guessing Shoji will fight Spinner for the "fate" of Mutant-user Quirks. + most of 1A.). Also since the latest chapter shows multiple heroes helping each other, they could have shown them planning it out(?). Edit: I think that Horikoshi-sensei is being rushed so I don't blame him for the manga being bad since burnout is a bad thing for creators.

I won’t lie, the final act really dissapointed me with how much more potential they could’ve had and yet for the most part, they dropped the ball so many times. If the villains win and we get a direct sequel, that would be a good way to get more chances of redemption, but overall, I’m just here to see how the villains get shit done

This feels similar to Bleach's situation years ago. I don't have much context so I won't hop on the MHA hate-wagon like a lot of people did with Bleach's ending since I know how it feels when everyone dog-piles on a series just for the sake of dog-piling on it. I think I stopped reading around when Deku started being a solo vigilante and they brought him back to the school.

I’ll also say this. Mha has been going on for over 7 years now and according to horikoshi it was never meant to be a super long story like people were expecting it to be (like a part two or several more arcs). Almost every interview or comment he makes on the series length always suggests that it’s going on a bit long then what he initially planned. He said around 30 volumes and that the pro hero arc was around half way through the story. The only thing that I myself personally feel was rushed was aoyamas situation. Though everything else seems to move at a reasonable and realistic pace. I think I can see why a lot of people feel it’s rushed or that it dropped in quality but I don’t really agree. That’s just my 2 cents though
@jeffreyali1456

I really don’t see this as reasonable as there’s so much more to explore and discover and yet we’re getting this. If they were to do a sequel then maybe they have a chance but I’m really doubting it. Just so much more potential not used makes it really irritating

Horikoshi always gets in his bag whenever he writes a chapter involving Shigaraki. MVA and the War as a whole proves that. Even recently when he pulled up with that spread of just his hand and riding the Nomu. So when I read the chapter and saw that there was both Shigaraki AND Monoma greatness, my hype went through the roof.
@ObaREX
@ObaREX 2 жыл бұрын
Which is probably why this entire final act has been kinda boring. Shigaraki hasn't really been allowed to be Shigaraki since the war arc. He doesn't feel as important as he once was. Even after AFO is taken out, Shigaraki will never have delivered on the promise of becoming the greatest villain of MHA. Because he was stopped short of doing that. And we ended up spending the final act focused on his step dad.

For me the vibe and pace for the series changed once mirio showed up. Seeing how we got the bare minimum for his quirk return and his impact, mr compress reveal was useless to the story, the deku quirk reveals felt very fast and not very impactful (remember fa jin was a thing?) Deku's bounce back was too sudden, The SnS fight was pointless to an extent, toga just "came back", the new war just started so randomly and plenty others but my point is it feels like something changed either in the background or horikoshi just wanting to be done already himself. Just my thoughts.

I definitely wouldn’t say the manga is horrible, but for a while now, it has felt somewhat… underwhelming. It just feels like we’ve reached the endgame so quickly and I feel like there’s so much that hasn’t been explored or fleshed out. It’s hard to be too upset though, cause being a mangaka isn’t exactly easy yet Horikoshi has still managed to deliver a story that I’ve loved for 7 years now. In some ways, maybe the mangas current state is a tad disappointing, but still far from horrible. I’m happy that we’re still lucky enough to have read this story and I can’t thank Horikoshi enough for delivering it

I agree. I think it’s not bad, but it really isn’t great either, it’s ok. I can say that there are some things I love about the manga from the panels and the Villains, but half of the time some things interests me and the other half I just can’t care or it irritates me how so much potential is in a stand still. Honestly, Do villains deserve to be saved? In this situation, no. Shigi has done too much to justify saving him. The league of villains have too much blood on their hands to give anyone the benefit of the doubt that they may be “misunderstood.” Take toga, she out casted herself. She took pleasure in murdering and tried to justify it as “I want to be like them.” Or Dabi, who simply wants to get back at his family for being abandoned despite his father being justified into think his soon died accidentally. Hawks actually extended that hand to twice begging him to turn himself in and even help them capture the villains. What did twice do? He chose to be side with his friends despite them doing bad things. So, hawks was justified in killing him. Should a hero save a villain despite the villains killings hundreds and thousands of innocence? No. They didn’t kill them accidentally like gentle criminal did. They willing did it to spread chaos. If a hero has to kill a villain to save country, then that is their duty. Their justice. That’s what being a hero is, saving the innocent. The League of Villain might’ve had unfortunate upbringing but they chose the worst way possible to enact their justice. Which is why the story suffers a lot and feels rushed. Horikoshi is trying to make the reader feel bad for them despite with everything they did in the first war and before it. Not only that but none of the league of villains never showed any glimpses of feeling bad for doing the things they did nor were they regretful. Not until now where they developed these things suddenly. Which doesn’t make sense. I hope this series doesn’t end with any of the league of villain members being saved. Rather they should all be out of their misery, put to rest, and there deaths should serve as an example of some kind. That expresses their unfortunate upbringing and a cautionary tale of what happens when someone’s doesn’t get the help they need. All might said a hero can’t save everyone and he was right. It’s up to the public as well to better themselves And Toshinori also said that “Freeing/Saving someone” can also be done by putting them to rest/killing them.

Finally! Someone saying a hero killing a villain is still justice as it saves the innocent is fine! That's the one thing I can never get behind most superhero genre series is how they really try making the hero all pure and such, yet the civilians are still suffering from the villain the hero oh so claimed to have changed for the umpteenth time. In MHA, the heroes definitely have a reason in getting the LOV because they aren't remorse about what they did, and they took everything to the extreme. I can't even say locking them up and spending time in max prison would change their minds. The next step is to give them the rest they deserve since that is saving them from themselves.

The only thing I could argue is that Hawks was justified with killing Twice. He should be punished by taking a life at the end of the day. Yet I just can't turn my eyes away from so many things that got unceremoniously sidelined or were just thrown out because of this acceleration towards the finishing line. One such thing, and I'm 100% biased, is Momo's character in the latest chapter. Yes, her role there is reasonable and I don't think someone else could easily replace her. But she's been reduced to a 3D printer with nothing to provide from all her character build up as a leader and a strategist. She's supposed to be as much of a genius as Nezu and Mei are, Midnight (RIP and the students never got to mourn her) saw Momo's potential and entrusted her with stopping Gigantomachia, which she did, in the end. Honestly, the feeling of it being rushed is why I basically dropped the series. I say basically because i will probably go back and read from where i dropped it to the ending or just the ending. This feeling of it being rushed however wasn't just towards the end but also in a lot of parts of the story imo. I think that horikoshi could have added multiple short timeskips if a long one wasn't possible. Though I think that the the previous fight that they had with Shigaraki could have allowed a good timeskip of like 1-2 years. Like "it will take a long time for Shigaraki to assimilate AFO's power, so he went into hiding and his underlings separate in different directions thus creating disturbances that would distract the heroes from finding him." Stuff like that would have been simple and given the characters more time to grow.

The manga is definitely moving with speed towards the finish line and I think I know why. Set up and payoff. When MHA began the story was simple. It was about a powerless boy in a world where nearly everyone else had powers who wanted to be a hero. And for a while the story wasn't huge and expansive. Just Deku struggling to adapt to hero training while the league of villains weren't complex at the time. Over time more and more characters start piling up. Everyone at UA as well as the league of villains acquiring a main cast. Coupled with the fact MHA isn't afraid to step away from Deku for a while to explore other characters. On top of the story expanding from UA to becoming a nationwide if not international in its consequences. All of this stuff you have to pay off or else the audience will ask where the plot thread went. Couple that with each weekly release only able to do so much in a handful of pages. The end result is if you have a set time you want to end the manga. Say a year or so. Then your going to spend most of the time paying off set up plot points and not exploring /creating new ones. Which gives it this "race to the finish" feel.

Yea, that and we’ve always had a loose idea of how long mha was gonna last. Horikoshi has mentioned before his plans for the series to be around 30 volumes or that the pro hero arc back when high end was introduced was about halfway through the story. I can’t say it rushed but the pace has been faster than the first half of the story and I think it’s intentional. It even turned out longer than planned but idk

While I don’t have a issue with the pacing (as I’ve been down this road with Bleach and know why it’s being rushed) I feel many don’t like the pacing as it’s essentially wasted opportunities to expand in a arc but Horikoshi himself has chosen to cut it down to just the meat and bone instead of taking its time, now to me it’s not a bad thing as there’s a majority that just want action and not a lot of talking, but to those who want details and all the bells and whistles it just seems extremely wasted story and lore Horikoshi could really go in hard on with chapter after chapter panning them out so it gives those type of readers something to digest, but ultimately it really seems that he just wants this story to end as he’s been doing this for 7 years and while it’s been fun and exciting for weekly chapters I’m sure he’s burned out and wants to move on. Like give the guy some credit he’s done phenomenally with the story which is why i truly don’t see the problem, but I do see and emphasis why it’s upsetting to others and all i can say is maybe we’ll get a Boruto like series after if we are lucky so who knows.

I kind of hope we don’t get a sequel series, mainly because of the fact that no new threat could ever top Shigaraki/AFO (in this series at least). However, it would depend on what the sequel series would be like. If it is more like a slice of life style, that would be nice. Again, I don’t think there could ever be any higher stakes or a better villain, and with what they have set up so far, I don’t even see quirks still being around by the end of the series (the quirk doomsday theory can and eventually will come to fruition).

@@scottvgamer1163 Honestly i legit feel the same with what you mean, but at the same time I feel with how the modern genre is with series like Boruto coming out it’s kinda to be expected, like I 100% agree villains like Shigaraki, AFO, Dabi, Toga etc..they all have a huge impact which if they were to take that element away then it would be extremely dull, however I feel if done right (like Vigilantes) they could really do something good with it or bring in a new generation of villains that are inspired by the big names, like it can be done but I also believe it’s kinda obvious it will follow that path as MHA is one of the most popular series of current shonen and makes money so it in theory would makes you continue the branch by expanding the horizon of the franchise.

It's not about not having any more ideas. That's not even what a rushed story is. A rushed story is a story that has more plot points and aspects to explore, but the author is glossing over them in order to finish the story faster than it naturally should be finished. The story feels rushed because horikoshi had too many ideas, not too few, and he's not fleshing them out all the way.

Overreacting, this happens EVERYTIME GUYS!!!!! Whenever a beloved manga/anime is near the end, what is the main things we say "feels rushed, I didn't like the ending" etc etc etc. I get it guys, we all want the story in which we are reading to have a perfect ending so that we can re-read it and be like wow, it's so perfect. But, that's never gonna happen. As for me, I don't mind if we have just have a good ending. I'm just enjoying the ride of the story. Maybe Hirokoshi is being pressured to finish it or maybe (most likely) it's just us as fans who overreact when the ending of a manga ends. Heck, I won't be surprised if One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen ending/final arc is met with a lot of complaints that the ending is bad/rushed. So guys, forget about having the perfect ending, just enjoy what you have. I love Attack On Titan ending (couple flaws) but, its still a goddamn masterpiece of a story. Bleach is my fav manga of all time and while I can def recognise some of its flaws, I still love it. My Hero Academia when it ends I will still love it. 5 Months later, having read the chapters and am now re-watching some of the anime to prepare for season 6, it made me realize it wasn't so much the story rushing things, but it was part of the story that people had to rush to put things together before AFO could become too powerful, if they had time to breathe it would be too late. Really looking back on it, the state of the show already was pretty fast paced, Deku was going pretty ham with OFA even 3 months in, taking into consideration what things have been like leading into the war arc and the absolute destruction of society as a whole... This is absolutely necessary, they needed to step up and jump right into the danger. It of course makes the story feel like it's rushing to a conclusion and it definitely is, but the feeling I am getting from it now from a fresh perspective is that the stakes demand them to finish this now, when they aren't in their prime. Life has a funny way of doing that too, throwing you into shitty situations you weren't ready for, and I look back on those times in my life as hectic and seemingly small blips but they felt like long periods of time. I believe this is what the Mangaka is trying to portray in this sense, their coming of age was supposed to be as Seniors, but it needs to happen now because their circumstances demand it. War and evil wait for no one.

I think people thinking the series is rushed has more to do with how other manga are rather than how this one was supposed to be. One Piece for example is an amazing series but it's lasted for literally thousands of chapters and other series like Bleach ran it'self into the ground with plots. It's hard to make a series that's super long and not many people pull it off well. While the Dabi reveal has better consequences (which is why is still better imo) the Aoyama one is great for making things even more personal between Deku and AFO. Also, also, while people thought the Dabi reveal wasn't gonna be good because everyone new he was Toya, the traitor one was considered by many fans a scrapped concept because of how long it took to get it. Even I thought : "if Hori wanted a traitor plot line he should have done it sooner, it's impossible he does it now", or "if he does it now there is no way it makes sense why the traitor didn't do anithing for so long". For me MHA feels like Horikoshi came up with an idea for a manga that was really interesting with very interesting socio-political elements that can be explored in the world he created, but unfortunately, either horikoshi or the editors don’t have the patience or imagination to write the type of brilliant story one could write here. The moment I was introduced to the idea that most people have quirks in this world and a few don’t, plus the idea of really cool quirks and seemingly useless quirks that can be excellent if the user has the imagination and dedication to make them useful, I genuinely expected that MHA would have absolutely spectacular fights with Deku leaning on his nerdy obsession with heroes to actually close the gap between how he can use his nerfed strength and against strong villian’s but also the randomness with which people get quirks also excited me particularly with respect to how we could’ve really delved into the anthropology of how villains and viallian quirks came to be defined with Toga playing a very key role as someone that has a quirk that forces them to harm others. There’s such an interesting study of the classism that exists within the heroes of society, the villians and the average joes that don’t really want to use their quirks for hero work or villain (or rather were never pushed by society into the class of villain due to them coming off as non threatening) MHA had the chance to be something as gripping as Attack on Titan in what could’ve been an exploration of the politics of their world buy also would’ve had the luxury of learning from the final failings of AOT and actually stuck its landing. But instead it’s now just a manga that obsessed over the protagonist getting powerful and somehow managed to PLUS ULTRA it’s way to the top of the pile of mid anime that we all had hoped would be the new shonen kings.

I mean a lot of shonen manga go on for awhile and it can get exhausting. Then when you need to wrap it up it can seem rushed or not enough may seem to be set up in place. The situation in the manga does have them in dire straits at this point. It does seem like a common thing for endings to be rough like with dragon ball z, naruto among others. Sometimes ends that way unless there’s a very good idea of how the series will end from the beginning

I won’t lie Chibi, I think MHA as a whole is ok at best. Half of the time I can find some interest, but other times they do things that make me lose interest or irritate me, and it’s really back and forth. However, the MVA and war arcs were the best arcs and I was hoping the next ones would do great as well and yet for the most part, it was just rushed and underwhelming as all hell which really disappointing me and ruined a lot of my enjoyment. There were so many things they could’ve done better than what we got and yet this is the result. The only things I’m genuinely interested in is Dabi vs Todoroki, Shiggy and the rest of the villains causing mayhem soon, and the eventual Deku vs Shiggy. I pretty much love the villains way more than the heroes tbh. Other than that, I unfortunately just don’t care about the rest. The only way they could potentially fix a lot of the problems is if the villains win and the heroes have no choice but to go to another country to train and win later on, which prompts for a few more arcs or a sequel to add a lot more dark factors, mental trauma of the students and especially Deku, more worldbuilding and development. Unfortunately, I don’t see that ever happening. I really wanted Hori to take a hiatus for a long time cause I would rather let him rest and relax and take his time than to be rushed and making this even more underwhelming and troublesome

I feel Horikoshi has a good setup here with all these smaller more personal battles happening instead of the chaos of the last war. Allows him to focus on the characters a bit more. The setup resembles what Demon Slayer did for it’s last arc. Now could’ve things been better? Yes. But like other people have said, I’m not going to fault Horikoshi for wanting to wraps things up after 8 years of writing his first big work. I think the Best way to describe the current state of the MHA Manga is... That the content and situations we are getting on it are not inherently bad perse, They Big problem here is the ridiculous pacing the series has had since the Paranormal Liberation War Arc Ended. Horikoshi is SPEEBLEETZING towars the ending without giving proper attention and development to a lot of the secondary plots of the story. The First Act of the series had more than 90 chapters, The Second Act had more than 200 chapters... By how things are looking The Third Act will have around the same amount of chapters as the first one (with luck). And it's a Huge Disappointment, My Hero Academia now feels like a Big Lake filled with missed opportunities and wasted potential.

All Might has been training and I BELIEVE he has 2-3 minutes left in the tank at least, especially if he's pouring his heart out. Monoma could transport him, but I don't think Aizawa would allow it. 2.) AFO’s warp quirk. I remember he warped Gran Torino in Kamino, so I wondered if All Might is watching nearby and at some point AFO realizes this and tries to warp him and succeeds. As I mentioned before, All Might has been exercising and training in the background. He may be what allows a few heroes to escape in the end. I wouldn't say the manga is horrible but it definitly feels off sence the war ended. It feels rushed. It feels like Horikoshi just wants to get done with it so he doesn't have to think about it anymore. When the war ended I thought we are going to see more of the world because of the time Shigaraki needs to recover (I tought it will be at least a few years not bearly a few month). I tought the kids would go to differents parts of the world as exchange students to get stronger without having to worry about the villains. I also tought it would take at least a year to bring Deku back and that he would have a bigger and permament change in his mental state and how he sees heros. Also I think Horikoshi is not making the right desision by not using Eri to help people recover. I know that they don't want her to be involved in stuff like fight but if she can control her quirk it would make sense to make her use it and turn back the people who can't fight because they are too injured of lost a limb. EDIT: Sorry for the spelling mistakes. I'm typing on my phone so I can't correct them and I'm also sleepy because it's 3am.

This is the 3rd week I didn't read the newest chapter, it's sad to see this series was once the center of my life, and it fell from grace so hard. Horikoshi promised us so much and he's just gonna end MHA before he delivers any I loved how 1A was handled, they were side characters and don't take too much time away the main cast, but they also take turns to be in the spotlight and the focus of the arcs, like Todoroki, Iida, Mineta, Momo, Kirishima, and Jirou etc. But now MHA's ending and half the class never got any development yet, even Tsu never got an arc dedicated to her, and she's one of the most popular character. So now it just looks like they're characters that never deserve any time to begin with Same with the villains, we'll never get to see the return of Gentle or Rappa, Stain's rematch, reunion with Lady Nagant, Overhaul's apology, or even 1A's revenge on Mignight's killer, which could've been a great arc in itself. Worst is MLA, they got took out off screen, which wouldn't be a problem if they're gonna return in the future, but now MHA's ending so Horikoshi literally just threw away these characters, it's such a waste for villains like Redestro and Geten I used to praise MHA for sticking to its worldbuilding, it's great to see a Shounen that teenagers aren't the center of the world, and the adults are still the one who save the day, and they would rather die first than send kids to fight. But now MHA's ending, we'll never get to see 1A in 2nd or 3rd year, where they're trusted to fight at the front line or on mission, so it's laughable how the Overhaul Arc is the only arc that the students are actually important and can fight Worst is all the character arcs and developments that just began and the series is already ending. It's embarrassing how Toga never had a real conversation with Deku, so this might be her first and last proper interaction with him, like what the hell? The only way this seires isn't completely ruined is if there's a part 2, if Deku lost OFA and AFO was defeated, then the story can still continue with Dabi, Toga, Spinner, or even new villains. I don't see how MHA can end with a war

I thought this for a while now, but I don’t think this is the final battle. I feel like deku is going to lose again, he’s going to hesitate when the hero’s tell him to kill shiggy but he won’t do it since he wants to save him, leading to a major character death.but not without some minor victories, like maybe toga switching to the hero’s side since she wants to be like deku and uraraka, and I hope that if the todoroki family stuff gets wrapped up here, endeavor has to join shoto, and he might die? Not sure. Deku will probably lose an arm since hori has been hinting at it for a while now with the art of deku posing with a mechanical arm of sorts, and then the newer art with him and shiggy and shiggy is holding his arm. I do believe that while deku is out of Commission shiggy or AFO will go to UA and kill All Might maybe.(at this point he never gonna die lmao) Just my thoughts

Don’t really have much to say about say about the situation. To me, it is a little more rushed than it probably should (at least with the buildup to this confrontation), but I don’t think that necessarily makes it “bad”. Aside from the ones that are most definitely be resolved, I can’t really think of any plot points that have been “glossed over” that NEED any or much more attention than they’ve already gotten. Personally, I still love MHA. I can overlook any issues it has because I’m not the type of person to focus on the negatives (this even applies to the anime version as well).

My biggest problem with the mha manga is that we are speed-running which should be the most interesting part of the story. A world ruled by villains should be really explored in depth. Not to say villian hunt was not a good arc I just wish we got more time with it. It would have been really cool to see Deku forge his own vigilante group with Stain, Gentle, and maybe even Koichi from vigilantes and have a conflict with AFO, his subordinates, the 1-A students trying to hunt down deku, and the rouge successor of All Might. I also don’t love how we are in another war within less than 100 chapters. Now that’s not say whats in the manga is bad. Aoyamas reveal was incredible and really did throw me and the community for a loop with the Toru fake out and despite it not having any lasting consequences so far the star and stripe fight was arguably the best in the series. I personally just wish we got a little more breathing room between the two biggest battles in the series.
