It's literally that simple crying and making hit pieces on KZbin about the game's influencers is not going to improve the state of the game. Collecting feedback and taking it back to the devs (which is what Martial and Romero do) is going to help improve the game.

Martial has completely lost his mind. He's literally telling his community that the players are too dumb to evade the block breaking pressure attacks. He's defending EA at all costs and would rather tell the viewer to get good at the game, instead of saying that these kind of fights are rare to witness in the UFC. Martial is even willing to give us one example of Belfort vs. Silva to valid the current state of the game even further. I can't believe that he is gaslighting his subscribers by saying that the players are the problem, because the developers gave them "all the tools" to be successful against it. His latest video contradicts almost everything what Martial said in the gameplay deep dive.

You go on simulation most of those guys throw themselves out first round. The ones that do last past the first you start to finally see the difference in fight knowledge cause they’re usual tactics aren’t doing enough damage. I think of lost 3 times in quick match and they were flash KO cause I was ducking into something. But on simulation where the stamina actually does something you start to see how many people actually rely on block breaking

Not sure why they feel that way, according to most the Game Changers that I've heard speak on the subject, most of their suggestions to improve the game were shut down. If I was brought into their studio to give my constructive criticism and feedback, and every idea I had was rejected or ignored, I'd feel no loyalty to the dev team. I am so glad I am not alone in this. The examples where you do what you think works, and fight smart, logical, composed - and then lose because someone spams hooks or jabs or whatever else and feel like a dummy, is exactly what happens often. I do wonder if this win / lose cycle is by design to keep players hooked. Daze an opponent, you hear sounds of casino coins, a high percentage of wins are via over the top Knockout, queue the uplifting music, and depending on if you won or lost.. You're often matched with someone who keeps your win / loss ratio balanced.

Also needs to be said: Martial hating on Undisputed yet all the new features like the character screen that is hugely inspired from Undisputed, you can see the character have the same body language. Also, the fact that you drain stamina if your nose is busted or getting lower effeciency with right/left arm if it got subject to an armbar prior is directly inspired from Undisputed as well. They copied every new interesting feature from Undisputed and put it in UFC 5 yet they come out here saying that Undisputed is boring. The game is not even finished, it's NOT even in ALPHA state. LOL

The armbar affecting your arm and stamina drain with the nose being broken has nothing to do with Undisputed. The problem with Undisputed is that online is borderline unplayable because of hackers, the body uppercut spam is actually unbeatable, the online connection is straight garbage, the AI is brainless and does nothing even on max difficulty, and there's nothing to do in it other than face the garbage AI and play against hackers online. I don't even plan on buying UFC 5, but from what I've seen it at least has stable connection, no hackers, and spammers that are at least beatable. I can see why people would be so bored and why only a fraction of the people who got early access are playing it now. The only two playable game modes are practically unplayable. I hope the career mode coming this month is good otherwise the game isn't going anywhere for a while.

People attacking the devs in a personal way, involving their family, and just generally going too far is unacceptable. I like alot of your points you've made throughout your recent videos. I gotta say tho, I actually like when the skill curve is high, and you need to learn a lot of things to compete with the best. In my opinion, that's reflective of real martial arts where you need to spend time honing your craft. But I can also see the side of people who just want it to play like a video game, which of course, it is a video game. I've always wanted games to simulate the sport they portray ... I agree w you and see ur point, but I believe that his points do not counter yours. I think he means that players should get good at actual skills and not get good at exploits and mini games. for example: in the grappling and subs, ur not using any thought to decisively get a better position and guarantee a sub, ur just training your quick time reactions. or the fighting- when you fight in a game, as soon as someone is low on stamina u execute the 1 or 2 combos in the game that every single player does exactly the same and every time u do it - it deals heavy damage. like we're not getting good at a skil based game, we're just memorizing buttons

I was competitive in Tekken 3 back in the day for many years. I could rely on the jab, one two, an up kick, uppercut, sidestep to counter players who mastered numerous combo's (which I mastered just to counter), however fundamentally I relied on timing, precision, and adaptability! I've watched numerous UFC 5 Pro Matches, especially Naz UFC and despite the skill involved, it's often rockem sockem robots with the player who knows the appropriate rare combo to use (relative to opponent being dazed or slipping) getting the victory. As you say Mayhem once it gets to the ground, you're not actually performing the intricacies portrayed on screen, it's a stick flick battle which falls in line with a mobile phone game.

I hear ya CSG, I'm just not sure grappling translates to a gamepad as well as the standup where you're using the full arsenal of inputs. When I pull off a submission, I don't feel the satisfaction pulling / pushing to gain the upper hand and finishing via holding the joystick in one direction, which is why I class it as a mini-game, since you can't mimic the senses required in real grappling to block transitions.

Great video man, you really made me think about how much I actually enjoyed UFC Undisputed 3. Going on the ground in this series has always been an issue with me and while it might be a skill issue it just isn't fun and too complex. You shouldn't have to watch a bunch of tutorials online just to get an understanding of the convoluted ground game. I prefer the Stand and Bang because it's the closest thing to Fight Night that I can play on my PS5. I really think about going to a game store and trying to find Undisputed 3 now just to see how better it was.

UFC 5 is simply a reskin and update of UFC 4. Hell, UFC 4 is simply an update of UFC 3. UFC 5 doesn't even have a much needed roster update that never even came to UFC 4 either. Such bullshit. MGS 2 is a top 3 campaign in my book, I never played MGS 3 since i found the aesthetic to be off putting, however the remake looks awesome from the limited clips I've seen

Everything you said is fine, but what do you suggest for the submission system? Grappling is over 50% of real UFC so why should it not be in the game?

You can't mimic the sense of "touch" in grappling, therefore it's a mini-game, and a mini game must be intuitive for all, since the reward from a victory isn't as satisfactory as winning a standup fight which requires precision, and accuracy. For the subs system, I suggest the offence remain the same, however defence be simplified to one input. Whether you're transitioning left or right, tapping or even holding a stick in either direction based on timing should block the transition, additionally there should be a deterrence (stamina drain) for those who choose to hold the stick in defence. This already exists in Undisputed 3 and it was highly competitive yet intuitive. The submission game is easy for those on the offensive, I can submit players relatively easy.. However it doesn't interest me because it's a mini-game. I'm empathising for those on bottom since its much harder to defend then attack.

I’m finna agree with everything except for the ground game 😅 I always liked that you have to watch their movements carefully to know which way they’re going to go and how to block it. And disagree with “jabs are useless” because me, that’s my go to. I jab nearly for 2 rounds but won’t throw hooks and heavy shot until the 3rd round. Jabs are very effective at least for me. By the 3rd time they’re already badly damaged just from the jabs As for the game itself, I thankfully got the trail for a few hours and man. They feel faster I guess but the only noticeable change is the cut system of course. The cuts makes you play a lot different and smarter than usual but other than that 😅 I can wait 2 years to play this repaint

The grappling is honestly not as complicated as it seems, you dont have to study every animation to learn how to counter them. I picture a cross overlapping out fighters and defend corresponding how they move. Try to picture the denial arrows thats available in career mood or practice and connect them with a cross. Shrimp left defend left, shrimp right defend right, posture up defend up. Ground game is incredibly immersive and intuitive if you know what youre doing. Only faults it has is the head movement and posts to stop hooks. Thats entirely unrealistic. But other then its pretty realistic and mentally feels like im rolling with someone. If someone tries rolling from turtle in the game it allows me to follow them and stay on top in half gaurd like im trying to stay on top in real life. Sub system is also pretty close to being how it should besides the ability to get an automatic sub when stamina is out. Ive had a few annoyances with that one. Honestly if they mixed ufc 3 stamina amd grappling with 5s strikes itll be perfect mma simulation game. But simulation went out the door when they dumb the clinch down in ufc 4.

i would say gamplay wise the community is toxic, but this is what i will say.. its laughable that these gamechangers defended the game with there SOUL but now that pro players are breaking down the game and finding issues now its " ufc 5 could be better" LMAOO. people like Romero and martial are real life clowns. W video love the professionalism style.

Devil Advocate: regarding the submission or striking in UFC 5 can the same argument be use for games like Street Fighters and Mortal Combat for games for casuals? Also I agree that when you whiff a bunch of strikes after each round stamina recovery shouldn’t be that grand.

Spinning attacks are almost nonexistent in all matches since the input are difficult to perform and no one knows who has the attacks and who doesn’t, who has time to practice for me chet just happens. EA should add default spinning attacks to all fighter; just like punches and kicks which every fighter has.

Ufc 5 seems to me a bit of an arcade game. There's zero stamina cost when you throw almost 400 strikes in 3 rounds and the block breaking seems to have gone nuclear. Every fighter on this online fights like mike tysom. Foot on the gas, button bashing boxing combos while head moving left and right up and down, just bobble heading all over the place....its quite fun I suppose but its pretty poor.

Man I wish Martial would've just been honest about the state of the game. It's not like EA would've just dropped him for giving constructive, HONEST criticism about UFC 5, right? He could've been honest and said what he truly believes is wrong with the game, because there's simply no way he honestly believes that block breaking, tracking, no new fighters on release, Muhammad Ali just being Nick Diaz, etc are all perfectly fine and not problems. When you made that first video about MM I thought it was just unnecessary hate but then the more I saw about the topic, not only from this channel but others like Pryoxis as well, I realized this was much bigger than I thought. I still like MM's content and will continue to watch it but I just hope he quits acting like UFC 5 isn't riddled with issues that should be addressed rather than giving excuses to cover them up like saying that "if you're getting beaten by block breakers then it's a skill issue". Thank you for continuing to make videos about this, hopefully someday MM will be honest about the game again and maybe then we'll start seeing some real change. Until then I'm just gonna wait for UFC 5 to go on sale til I actually buy it for myself
