Honestly all it takes is a ground breaking artist to take the stigma and treat it as a compliment for the stigma to leave.. Eminem did it with white boy rap… tyler made it so you can be suburban and not start from humble beginnings.. lil uzi, X, and playboi made mumble rap a viable rapping style… if these guys stopped trying to run away from it and create their own lane instead of trying to be adopted in created lanes of music.. they’d find the success and recognition they’re looking for

@@tjali563 i think because kanye surrounded himself with people with street cred propelled him into hip hop like Eminem was considered that for his time even though he lived poor people didn’t respect him till later.. Tyler came trying his best to be different.. made different subjects of music that the usual hip hop demographic don’t listen to then got accepted without that backing… his music sounded suburban and took the cool out of it and made it more relatable for that group of people… jay z was very instrumental in kanye success

I think the X factor limiting a lot of this comes down to a simple fact. Rappers are supposed to be "cool". Whatever that word has looked like in every generation, in every rap subgenre, it was always about being the one that people want to be like. But for people my age and maybe several others, traditional youtubers are the antithesis of cool.

I disagree. I believe that it's because they don't put that much time into the craft. If you take Kendrick for example, and I'm a big fan of Kendrick, but the guy is fucking weird lmao. However people overlook it because he makes great music and he's an expert in his craft. His weirdness is overlooked. Not saying that youtubers need to put in Kendrick level work to be viewed as cool though I believe because a lot of youtubers try have their fingers in all the pies (put their fingers in all the pies? phrase goes something like that) they underestimate the amount of work it actually takes to be a top Hip Hop artist. Also looking cool doesn't mean shit if you're a dope MC. Eminem most likely wasn't viewed as cool by a lot of people on his come up. I understand what you're saying though.

Here's something you guys never mentioned, that I kind of wish you did: KZbin rappers are definitely a wave that is slowly building up. scru opened for big name artists in the industry and even made songs with them, but chose to be a KZbin Rapper cause that's where he saw his career thriving, even though he could have gone big in the mainstream. Others Such as Dax and VI Seconds made big moves against the mainstream artist Tory Lanez; Dax being pulled up on and forced to apologize by Tory after Dax dissed him, and VI seconds (one of the best lyricists to be on the KZbin scene) accusing Tory of Stealing one of his songs and posting the evidence online for people to witness. With all of these artists being stuck under the limelight, and people like T-Pain and Logic going into that medium (though under twitch) and people like T-Pain saying he's gotten more money under being a streamer than he has being under a record label and in his prime in the 2000s, it's one heck of a debate on how blurred the line is between being a rapper for KZbin and being a rapper in the mainstream.

I think the real problem is that however you start IS gonna be how you finish as a KZbinr rapper, as far as perception at least. Token to me is a guy who doesn’t belong here because his-I think-debut album “between somewhere” is really just an album, and a really good one at that. It’s devoid of basically all stigmas he acquired, and yet he’s still undeniably seen as “one of those.” Basically, it’s hard to shake.

You should make a video about the difference in perception of what is good in music. Bc everyone I hear say these people are amazing I think are super trash yet not many people listen to those I think are super talented. Like compare VI Seconds to Tory Lanez (lol) or any popular artist that a lot of people say is talented and tell me they are still talented comparatively.

Numbers just mean you have an audience, it doesn't mean you're good? KSI knows this and he literally could give 2 fucks about your and his fanbase opinion because it's irrelevant and they're just a bunch of yesmen. He wants new listeners opinions because those are the ones that will tell him if he's mid or not.

I think people don’t like when others have a head start and don’t have to grind or “get it out the mud” but most rappers had a catapult or a machine before they blew up. With KZbin rappers, it’s just more obvious. One of KSI’s first songs reached over 50 million and a large part was due to the fact people who liked KSI as a KZbinr clicked on his music. Most rappers have KZbin channels and post vlogs(Yungeen Ace, J Cole, Drake, Logic). They’re not called KZbin rappers because they got on through rap first so their music isn’t discredited.

Maybe if KZbin rappers didn't piss on their fanbase by DISRESPECTING them saying their appreciation isn't worthy of their "talents" anymore....Maybe people in the game wouldn't have so much DISRESPECT for KZbin rappers that miss the whole point of making and releasing music for THE PUBLIC in the first place

KZbin rapper are fast food of music.. Cheap, fills a whole and when done, within 5mins, you are still hungry for more! That'S why they pump music at this rate, the track is wack and life spent of one is barely weeks... They saturate the market with their crap so now it makes it even harder to find good artist since all the platform pushes crap like this..

True, But I dont think you necessarily need to struggle. Its also about talent. Plus I dont thinl its fair that they should not consider rapping just because they never struggled. If they can make creative bodies of work they'll last for decades and be remembered. If not, they will just be Forgotten.
