WHAT AN INCREDIBLE PODCAST TODAY!!! WOW.... I continue to be blown away by the high quality content of your podcasts! I love hearing Dale Jr's forward thinking vision for Nascar and his insightful advocacy for improving driver safety. The intelligent and straight shooting discussions between Mike, Dale Jr, and their guests are phenomenal. And I'm ALWAYS here for the ALL the great stories you all share with the audience! Today though, was an absolute Master's Class on Motorsports Innovation! I loved every minute of it and I'm beyond excited to see you all do a podcast from Le Mans, France!! FACT: This podcast has single handedly reignited my excitement for Nascar! I've been going to stock car races since I was 6 months old and my Dad was a professional drag boat racer back when Rick Hendrick sponsored Eddie Hill's Drag Boat in the early 80's. I met Rick back then and his son Ricky was close to my age....we used to run around in the pits together between races. RACING IS IN MY BLOOD! But for the past 5 years, I had lost interest in watching Nascar.....and then one day about 4 months ago, I stumbled upon your podcasts on KZbin and started binge watching a bunch of your interviews with other retired drivers. It was like coming back home to my roots again....THANK YOU Dale Jr! ~~Christy~~

I was there in 2000 with my grandad we got to take the Daytona USA EXPERIENCE and we were on a trolley going around the track and the back trolley blew a tire out so we stopped and hung out in victory lane till they brought another one it was pretty cool 😎
@aaronhendrickson450 Жыл бұрын
I still don't how I feel about them moving victory lane at Daytona. Such a historical site to just cover and move so quickly. Kinda takes away that feeling for the winner of standing in that spot where past champions of the 500 stood. I know if I won the 500 I wanna stand where Dale stood when he won.

Remember back when NASCAR used to have driver interviews inside & outside Daytona USA? Then they switched to the mall with Benny Parsons (he was awesome) and after him Doug Rice. People would stay at the mall all day when Jr. was on. They usually had a day with Jr, Jeff & Jimmie that was crazy. Almost more fun than the races. Everyone just joked around and Tony made surprise appearances.

A timed endurance race would be cool, but I also thought that was the challenge of the Pocono 500. It was an endurance race, and would go through some interesting cycles. As a fan, after sitting in traffic for three hours, I was happy to spend more time watching the race.
@Ice-Blade Жыл бұрын
they are al.... "were" all endurance races (with laps) … and then over time you stopped seeing engines and parts fail … still happens but not very often. technically it is still endurance . races are longer (in most type races) then any other racing sport because they are supposed to be back in the good ol days manufactures used nascar (all racing sports) to test and promote their brand... cars don't' really fail alot anymore but the laps really haven't changed. the cars are (most racing cars in general ) even the local short tracks, are built to last one race and then their torn apart and rebuilt for the next one. the components are put under extreme stress and heat over the course of the race. they warp and seals start to break down. they last one or tow races and then get inspected and replaced as needed. in rare cases engines and transmissions fail because whomever didn't quite install/rebuild it correctly and/or a part was a lemon and doomed to fail in general. 3-4hr races are plenty and you and i are on the rare side cause the complaint that races are too long are still brought up...noobs
@michaelcaraway2305 Жыл бұрын
The next gen is a huge step toward doing an endurance style race. Adding lights is not a huge issue to overcome. The question is making parts last for 12/24 hrs. Engines and transaxles are probably not the weak point more the tow links.
@johnhaas2523 Жыл бұрын
The toe link shouldn't be an issue since most likely not going to crash into a wall at speeds do at most nascar tracks

I think whats interesting is that the Gen 6 car is probably a better fit for Jimmie's driving then the Gen 5 was at the end of his career, especially at the mile and a halfs where handling didn't matter as much since they could keep the throttle down the whole way around the track.

I saw this late. I think it would be smart and cool for NASCAR to do some endurance races. 1000 miles or 6 hours to start would probably be most realistic. The teams having to actually team up, rotating drivers, maybe you make each cup driver team up with someone (?) to keep the charters happy. The points, stages, etc, IDK, make it work. Also, it could allow for some wild entries. Do this, it would be really cool.
