i began watchin him in the dr pepper 23 car. was always dissapointed he went to thst car because too many drivers come to cup into a lower tier team and they get stuck there because theres no performance. so thankful that jr looks at so much more than results and saw potential in him.

I was there in 2000 with my grandad we got to take the Daytona USA EXPERIENCE and we were on a trolley going around the track and the back trolley blew a tire out so we stopped and hung out in victory lane till they brought another one it was pretty cool 😎

Today though, was an absolute Master's Class on Motorsports Innovation! I loved every minute of it and I'm beyond excited to see you all do a podcast from Le Mans, France!! FACT: This podcast has single handedly reignited my excitement for Nascar! I've been going to stock car races since I was 6 months old and my Dad was a professional drag boat racer back when Rick Hendrick sponsored Eddie Hill's Drag Boat in the early 80's. I met Rick back then and his son Ricky was close to my age....we used to run around in the pits together between races. RACING IS IN MY BLOOD! But for the past 5 years, I had lost interest in watching Nascar.....and then one day about 4 months ago, I stumbled upon your podcasts on KZbin and started binge watching a bunch of your interviews with other retired drivers. Tires long run testing I wish to no if you guys are doing a few with how tire grip will hold up and how drivers should drive car to hold grip in tires. I can't wait I love LA man's awesome race and excited to see it.

Maybe they can develop headlights for the other cup cars and run a night race at Sonoma or one of the other road course's

The next gen is a huge step toward doing an endurance style race. Adding lights is not a huge issue to overcome. The question is making parts last for 12/24 hrs. Engines and transaxles are probably not the weak point more the tow links.

The toe link shouldn't be an issue since most likely not going to crash into a wall at speeds do at most nascar tracks

Montoya got me interested in Supercars from Australia. NASCAR at LeMans with their international audience will probably gain some interest from the world stage. Looking forward and hope it’s not a one off. Oh and If Dale or Mike can’t make it that weekend,I could be persuaded to substitute

I was never a JJ or CK fan on track... but now that he's racing (i wish full time) again i'm kinda pulling for him. i'm late here but he was in the top ten and i was really wanting to see what would happen if he took the lead.. never did but it was an exciting thought. he no doubt woulda took control of the race im sure.

I think whats interesting is that the Gen 6 car is probably a better fit for Jimmie's driving then the Gen 5 was at the end of his career, especially at the mile and a halfs where handling didn't matter as much since they could keep the throttle down the whole way around the track.

I'm thinking Garage 56 is an ingenious backdoor opportunity to get around NASCAR testing rules. Keeps the engineering team involved to find that 1/10th of a second in speed and possible handling improvement that other teams can't find.

Dale you guys need to take a page from aussie V8 supercars bathurst race 1000km 2 drivers per car 1 mandatory brake pad change minimum 5 fuel stops 4 tyre changes NASCAR could do laguna seca 600 miles 2 drivers 1 being the cars regular driver and maybe an xfinity driver minimum 5 fuel stops 4 tyre changes and a mandatory brake pad change after 200 miles and each driver can only do a maximum of 200 miles per driving stint and NO STAGES JUST FLAT OUT RACING now that would be entertaining i bet the ratings would go through the roof cheers from down under

For promotional purpeses i would've gone with another drivers lineup. F1 is growing in the States so why not going with three F1 champs ( Alonso, Verstappen and Button ) and a 7 times Nascar champ ( Johnson ) to promote Nascar in Europa ? Alonso wants to do Le Mans with Max Verstappen.

Bein from SE Tennessee mountains I'm havin trouble understanding that race name. Luckily i recently watched that "Ford vs Ferrari" and they talked weird also. For 60+ years when i read about the race, Lemans", my brain said "LAH MAANS" but now everybody sayin "La-mah" almost sounds like that pre birthin class that dad's are posed to go to with baby mama. Worlds gone crazy. Guess Daytona should be "Da-tone". Sadly i stopped watchin after they made it like bracket racing at drag strips. I realize they gotta have rules but that no swapping paint or expressing your emotions. THEN restrictor plates to make all the race cars slow down so no passin, lapping, and horrendous crashes cause everybody runnin yhe same speed in a pack. But all ya'll know this. I think they even banned beer. OH YEAH, banned Confederate flags. Yeah, that saved our country and half of the small crowds are black. Not. Let the NASCAR teams build fast, safe cars that LOOK LIKE THE FRIGGIN CARS THEY REPRESENT. Sorry for yelling. Been watching old races when the cars were real and runnin 212-220. They could make em safe and kinda even but put the cars back in the drivers control. I might even start watchin. BTW, i have some safety innovations that could save lives. NASCAR has not returned my calls. Maybe Junior can stop by for supper some time.

I’m gonna say this now, the sound award at Le Mans is gonna be close between the Cadillac 5.5L V8 and the NASCAR R07 5.8L V8. Also that would be pretty cool to see just for like a 1 time thing either NASCAR just have an exhibition endurance race or a NASCAR class for at least Daytona or Sebring. Though a full class we need to get rid of the LMP3 class first. But like it’d be cool to just have like 1 race with a endurance race outside of the Coke 600 and 1 race with a full field of G56 spec cars. Though I feel like the schedule at that point needs to be shorter for a endurance race on the Cup calendar or replace a weekend or two for this.

Hear me out with this Garage 56 deal… Imagine if they built 6 of them. 2 of each Chevy, Ford, and Toyota. Take 6 drivers from each manufacturer (18 Cup drivers total) and have them run the 24 hours of Daytona. Would be badass.

As far as driver selection for qualifying, starting & finishing the race I'd assume promotional wise NASCAR & Chevy will want Jimmie as the finishing driver. Rocky will probably do the qualifying run as he has the most experience over there. Starting driver is really only the toss-up, Jimmie makes sense promotional wise but he lacks the experience in what is the most congested tight stint of the race and I'd figure they'd want Rocky going into the night so I'm going to guess Jenson will start.
