Can you guys make this into an official series? Don't buy *X* before watching this I know years back one was done for wheels and tires. But I think this could make a good series. Ex. Don't buy Air bags before watching this. And you'd give out more into that really isn't talked about when owning air bags. Edit: I even posted a comment way back when the coilovers video dropped.

WHY? Just fit the correct sized tires.(minimum 225 to maximum 275). So, let's say a 245, almost 2" wider than you are asking about. Alternatively, if you want to leave 205's on there, then use a 6" rim.

Slight stretch is all good. I mean slight !! I have done it before. 215 /40 16 on a 8.5 wide wheel. I had 245 50s but cops were all up my ass about tread out to far so I put the smallest tires the shop would do at the time . Back in 2004. When did people start doing it anyway ?? I definitely preferred the bigger tires but local law enforcement where I live is super bored all the time 😄

I can understand a mild stretch, either for the look or for fitment of it will prevent rubbing - personally though, I'm a function over form person, but good form + function is 👌 That said, I laugh my ass off when people think they can street race or road rally something with rubber bands on it. You WILL de-bead that tire, it's just a matter of when and where.

Each tyre manufacturer has recommended width max and min to fit a tyre, this allows for more than enough safe stretch. The biggest issue is under inflation, you need to run higher pressures to stiffen the sidewall and check it regularly.

I read on a racing forum once that a small amount of stretch can assist with tyre flexion when cornering at high speeds. How true this is I’m not sure, it could just be an excuse to justify having stretch though it did specify only a small amount of stretch, not the kind of stretch seen in the “stance” scene.

I bought a car with streched tires. After a while those tires became distorted. Recently I borrowed some wheels with streched tires and they also began to vibrate so I assume theyre a goner too. A guy at a tire shop told me that streching them does in fact lead to possible damage. Maybe youre not supposed to ride them hard, I dont know. I feel that kind of tires dont like hard cornering. Also if you hit a small bump at higher speed there is no cushioning effect. Instead you hit it hard with your rims 😱 Theyre for show, not for spirited driving I guess.

So PLEASE HELP & here's my scenario. - 2018 BMW 230i - 205x50x17 (🤮No idea why this was on!🤢) I am looking to purchase; - 225x40x18 (Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 PLUS LOAD XL) - 18x8.5 / 5x120 (Aodhan DS08 Wheels) __________________________________ So am I running stretch with this combo? If yes, which stage stretch would it be exactly? I have no idea how to calculate this according to the wheels being 8.5 in width (which would be wider because of the lip ends correct?) Do you recommend a different tire? (I am in the market only for A/S Performance)

Slightly stretched with normal camber is one thing; you retain the contact patch on the tread and evenly distribute stress to both sidewalls. Stretch with extreme camber? Your contact patch is the inner corner of the tread (about as wide as a bicycle tire), and you put all the stress on the inner sidewall, almost a guaranteed de-bead unless you run like 125 psi. If you wanna run the latter setup and wreck your wheels and car when a de-bead almost inevitably happens, more power to you, but do so off public roadways, lest you lose control and kill innocent motorist etc.

*not just at that time. The laws in Germany are still like that also strechting is illegal on it'e own....you can "srech" a 205 maybe a 195 on a 8" wheel when you get a confirmation from the tire manufacturer that it's safe. But strechtes like a 175/165 on a 8"... no way you can do that

Used to have stretched tyres about 15yrs ago when "german style" was all the rage (everything shaved, dropped as low as possible, mildly stretched tyres on wide rimmed wheels). Now I run 235/45 on 7.5" wheels, which is technically way too wide but it doesn't even look that meaty imo. The difference? Taking a corner on the limit on stretched tyres = hoping they don't debead and once you're over the limit, you're gone. Taking a corner on the limit on meaty tyres = the tyre rolls without risk of debeading, reducing the contact patch a bit so you start slipping within the limits so you're warned to take it a bit calmer. Both ways are suboptimal compared to the recommended match, but meaty is definitely more forgiving than stretched. Also too much tyre roll can be compensated by running a little bit of negative camber, but there is no way you can compensate for throwing away all the flex of a tyre.

If you want the stretched look just buy lo-pro tires, wide wheel, wide low tire, no blowing out your sidewall.

I've seen these, IMO, it looks like someone bought some used rims cheap so they mounted their stock tires because they can't afford the right ones, stupid looking trend like giant rims and tires on a Caprice or a gasser with the front end up and a lift kit.

Smaller tires having less grip is not entirely true...a bigger contact patch will just divide the force over a bigger area, cancelling the change in grip out. The real reason you want to have wider tires in a performance car is: 1, getting rid of the temperature in the tire more easily (and therefor the tyre lasts longer in a healthier state) and 2, when you corner hard, a stretched tire is starting to run on its sidewalls... which you don't want.

That S2K setup looks like the beads aren’t even seated. I wouldn’t even touch it. Mild stretch, however, that can definitely look alright. Just don’t go buying a cheap tire, they’re already enough of a pain to seat on the right size wheel.

Why have a performance car if it dose the perform well, the best thing about fast cars is the driving experience and if camber and stretched tyres is hindering that just drive with normal tyres

Here's me thinking my 265/35 are a bit too narrow for my 9.5" wheels. Then Gels comes along and says that a 235/35 or 225/40 is nothing to worry about

Run the correct tire every day for the sake of everyone around you on the road. Save the stretches for when you're on the car show lot.

@@TestECull yea like, I wouldn't say 265/35 was stretching on a 9.5" wheel, but it wasn't "flush" if you know what I mean? Just a tiny bit narrower than perfectly square

I bought some wheels and tires as is for my daily, 215s on 9.5 inch rim and in Michigan. I thought for sure they were gonna debead or something eventually but they never did. I never even checked tire pressure on them. Still id never recommended it or go any further that a few sizes down, but pulling the bead past the lip is too much despite how sexy it is

I recommend you to buy a portable air pump like the AIRHAWK,and check your tire PSI atleast every 2 weeks (or if lazy,do every month) with that combo stick to 40 PSi. They only have high risk to de-bead if PSi is low (around under 30 psi) while doing a hard turn. Im on 235/35 on my 9.5 but i still check my PSi every month.all tires even a stock set-up will lose air eventually due to heat/cold weather and driving habbits.

@@jackcollin1695 I agree I always knew they have issues at the wrong pressure but I honestly never once checked and never had a problem, but id like to think i just got lucky lol id bought 225s to put on them to make me feel a tiny bit better but sold the wheels like 3 days ago
@jackcollin1695
@jackcollin1695 3 жыл бұрын
@@AyoBrandoh it wont lose air that quick,but it will eventually.so if it goes under 30 psi or reach 20 psi,then thats the trouble that it will de-bead when you turn even with a decent speed. But 225 is a lil safe for 9.5
