Their series was so convincing that I actually found their channel when I was looking for a tutorial on how to make a turret and Gmod, and used the same video they got attacked by the rebel to make one in my server and a similar tank design. At the time, I just thought the ending was just random Gmod humor, no idea it was some elaborate ARG horror!

It sorta makes sense how the Pyro gets 'Special Treatment' by being the one to go on the rides. Pyro is often used to counter Spy, the one class Engineer has the most trouble from. So, it makes sense that Gunslinger would 'Like' Pyro more then some of the other classes (Of course, not as much as Engineer, and not enough to spare them.) Of course, I could just be going mad.

29:19 actually the heavy is NOT trying to avoid seeing what is about to happen. that is actually something the heavy does on the original video called Sandvich Is Spy. in the original video, the heavy does that kind of movement because after the sandvich disappeared, the spy would appear behind the heavy to backstab him and that's why the heavy "tries to avoid looking at what is about to happen" on the second video that gunslingerpro2009 published. i hope i helped! :)

i headcanon that the reason badwater didn't use the duplicate gun at first for his ragdolls is because he thought they were unique and wouldn't wanna risk creating useless bodies while the alive ragdolls go hiding, but once he realized that the duplicated scout mantained his sentience, he started creating new scouts to vent by torturing them, or maybe he just wanted to vent after scout escaped, and only find out during it that they keep their memories, which is why he had that villain speech

God I love the deleted video from ClassicGMVideos. Them huddling against the wall out of fear and their fast movements is such a cool visual way of showing the emotions and fear the player is going through and it perfectly culminates in the split second of the burning skeleton we see that causes them to just straight up quit.

If there's one thing I really appreciate about Gunslingerpro, it's how subtle their presentation is with the sentient ragdolls. So many small movements or details that you could easily miss cause it happens so fast or you could pass it off as strangeness in the engine. I didn't even realize the Heavy tried to move away after trying to appease Gunslinger. One detail I remember seeing is how the Spy during the walker tutorial looked up before gunslinger could grab the Spy, as if waking up and trying to see where he is.

I'd like to see a Gmod ARG where the obligatory "Mysterious Entity" is actually friendly to the player. Maybe they're haunting the game or computer or something and befriends the player. Like a literal ghost in the machine. The entity would still act fairly creepy, but the player wouldn't be too bothered by it. The player could even be some little kid or something. But, whenever the kid tries to tell people about it, no one believes him. Then maybe the kid invites one of his friends to a server hosted on his computer to see the entity for himself. Maybe the kid's friend makes fun of the kid and it might anger the entity and then who knows what happens. But maybe the ARG could end with the kid finally helping this 'ghost in the machine' escape and be put to rest. It would be creepy, but also kind of heartwarming at the same time. I'm just saying, it'd be a nice twist of formula where the obligatory entity acts out of a desire to protect a user instead of torment them. (Also, feel free to use this idea. I'm not gonna do anything with it... I think.)

I think parody would be the next logical step to take, first there is the really good first instance that kinda blows up (gunslinger pro, badwater videos and the ones that came before that), then alot of other folks try to follow it using largely the same tropes wearing them out (like the ones discoussed at the end of this vid) then once it is so worn out everyone got tired of it they get parodied (havnt seen anything like that yet but this comment would be a great idea for it) and lastly even after that dies down there's eventually a second wave of the medium that changes up enough to be rly good on its own despite its roots (id say interlooper fits really well here), this kinda cycle already kinda happend with petscop and VHS esc ARG's (mendela, local 58, gemini etc) aswell

Something interesting I noticed that you didn't mention regarding Gunslingerpro is a detail I think is particularly interesting. In the beginning of the Engineer Land video, and the unlisted secret video, the NPCs move *fluidly*. In these two videos, during the only instances of (non-mangled) NPCs moving autonomously out of sight of Gunslinger themselves, they move like living creatures. Not sure how relevant it is, but it sure is interesting to me lol

Just wanted to say that east europe region (Ukraine, Belarus and Russia) had their own versions of "Mystery entity" : most important are Myasnoy (" A man out of meat") and Nabludatel ("The spectator"). Myasnoy was quite similar to "the usual" mystery entities: he was often hiding in the dark room, or sometimes going out of there to watch the player. Nabludatel on the other hand was usually standing on the buildings or on the balconies, just watching the player enjoying themselvs

Imagine a ARG that instead of taking place in a game like GMOD or SFM, but a game like OVERCOOKED. A modded version of overcooked where as the player starts progressing down the levels the recipes they make become more and more grotesque. From salmon sushi and bacon burgers, slowly to insects and fried roaches… until eventually human flesh and pig intestines, then it turns out the person you have been serving your orders too has been the same person all along not the zombie bread monsters but the KING himself, then as the game ends you realize the king’s dog is no longer next to him. The king insinuates that he is hungry and that his appetite is never satiated and eats the chefs of the game. Then the over arching story is that the king is a god of Gluttony, in his gluttonous search for power (how he became king) his crown cursed him with the very thing he was guilty of a insatiable hunger for power so now he is cursed with an insatiable hunger, and now at the end of the game that there is no more food to cultivate or farm for him to eat. He is left to eat the player and slowly loath his existence as he has eaten everything in the world but is unable to satiate his hunger

One of the best aspects of gunslingerpro and badwatervideos is how they contrast the shoddy physics based animation of the player, and the smooth organic animation of the ragdolls, you can tell exactly when one takes over from the other, and it takes a bit of skill to be that good at animating, but imitate being bad at animating just as authentically.

In a community that frequently complains about not being able to do variety content, these G-Mod horror videos, as well as the Interloper series, are probably the biggest boon you could ask for, because now it's opened you up to make any internet horror content you want since these videos are so heavily tied to the analogue horror genre, which has ties to pretty much everything in existence.

Personally, a gmod arg that I think is kinda underrated as a concept is plasticapple2009. They have a living rag dolls concept as well, though instead of the player being a villain, it’s one of the ragdolls, Ellis from l4d2. Honestly, give it a watch! I think it does a nice spin on the living ragdolls idea! (And the animations themselves are actually super well made)

Actually, before calling gunslinger a "good friend", heavy did say the voiceline "engineer is traitor to team!", which explains gunslinger's reaction. Basically, heavy was throwing shade and then tried "retracting his claim".

You don't even need to download a creepy map off of the workshop, gmod is already creepy as it is when you play by yourself. I can't even tell if that was how it was designed or something...

As someone who never got to play gmod at a young age, only tf2 because it was free, I never really got to see this side of the community and learning more about this content as a newer player, its really spooky for me. Its almost like the same feelings that would be had for anyone who may have been playing at this time, and if i were to discover any of this stuff would entirely make me wish to summon some deity and never play it again. I really like this type of horror because its so interactive, and feels like a spin on just classic horror games. Also, the idea of a creepypasta wallflower is great and I wish someday we could find creepypastas that just have wholesome endings, simply because.

The creepy radio playing distorted trumpets and then to numbers, it reminds me of number stations wich were used to give navigation to secret agents mainly in the cold war. The fact it's related to going somewhere else has a similar purpose to number stations, but that's just a theory. A GAME THEORY Edit: oh it's already been mentioned
