Subtle? I feel like Nolan was hitting us over the head his "That's not Him...Now that's more like it..."? It was pretty obvious to the audience it wasn't Batman. And even if it wasn't, a little mystery and misdirection is fun in a movie.
@seppukusushi28482 жыл бұрын
@@snowtime5500 The "No Murder" rule was merely a product of the Hays Codes because people were worried that comics (that were meant for kids) were corrupting the youth. Comics plagiarized these stories from earlier pulp short stories meant for adults. The first issues of Batman had him killing criminals and carrying a gun. Batman not killing criminals and working with the police is a product of earlier censorship. Pulp and Noire aren't supposed to be for kids.
@L_Lawliet19072 жыл бұрын
@@seppukusushi2848 Ultimately, the no kill rule is what made him the character and popularity he has today.
@seppukusushi28482 жыл бұрын
@@L_Lawliet1907 The rule is quite flexible and it's been broken many times. Even in film, it was only the Nolan movies that explicitly emphasized it (some would say excessively so). I think Burton probably struck the right balance by not making Batman look like a vengeful Vigilante, but also not holding him strictly to the "rule." Once you get into the Nolan films, and the recent film, the rule starts to look ridiculous because of the darker content in these movies. It would be like having Al Pacino in a cop movie about Prostitutes but it's PG-13 with no nudity and no blood or swearing. Is this cop movie for kids? No, not based on the subject matter, but it's not really for adults either. The Batman of the No Kill Rule era in the comics was an optimistic hero for children. These recent movies may call Batman a hero, but the tone is Nihilistic, so the no kill rule feels tacked on or imported from different material where it made sense. And these newer movies are NOT for kids.

While his role was slightly bigger in TDKR, I still wish we could have seen him use the fear toxin again, while speaking in that demonic-like tone of voice, but unfortunately, he was just a courtroom judge and nothing more. We don't even get to see if he was arrested by the GPD or not. Ah well, Cillian Murphy still nailed the character pretty well!

Y'all ever think bad guys got that "Batman feeling"(that's what I call it) Like you hit up a bank in the middle of the night everything's going smoothly and one of your guys is like "this is too easy we better hurry before Batman shows up" then you get outside and your shooting at the cops and YOU get this strange feeling you turn around and you see the Batmobile.

The one thing that always gets me about this scene is how casual everyone is about how at 1:02 one of the fake batmen just...threw a dude off the ramp? Like I get there are a bunch of fake batmen and the mob/scarecrow are probably fixated on identifying the right one and/or in panic mode when they're realizing what's about to happen but like...they really just let some dude in a costume stroll through and throw one of their guys (who seemingly didn't even try to fight back) off a parking garage ramp.

This scene encapsulates Bruce's hubris, ego and savior complex perfectly. The city is starting to fight back, but the way Bruce acts proves that he's doing this for himself not for the actual citizens of Gotham. "What's the difference between me and you?" ... Basically that Bruce is rich and that they're actually willing to kill for what they believe in. Bruce's 'not killing' policy is another way he wants to see himself as better than everyone else. Great directing, acting and script to encapsulate all that into a very short scene. Watching all the movies is great to show just how broken and corrupted Bruce was in this trilogy. Scarecrow's observation was spot on... he definitely needed some psychological help.

I love how when the fakes are shooting up the mobsters there isn’t any music and the theme isn’t heard in the soundtrack until the real Batman shows up. It sort of reminds me of the scene in Jaws when the little kids are pretending to be the shark. They purposely left out the theme because it was a clever way of hinting to the audience early on that something was off about the scene.
@hammerbro19475 жыл бұрын
I was like "What? Thats the best entrance Batman? Shame." But when the theme didn't kick in and he drew his gun, I then knew he's not the real batman! Caught me off guard when I first saw that moment. :)

3:04 In fact, you may not know this because Batman just passed it on as a joke, but Brian's line "what's the difference between you and me" has a huge impact on Batman's identity. In other words, he and Brian are just vigilantes.
