Because they are honorable warriors, they received the same training but they chose different path. Even if they're enemies they consider that the winner can only be chosen by a loyal fight, without fire weapon as they were trained. Bane must have ordered his men not to kill Batman (or at least try^^). Also you could say "because that's from a comic book" but I prefer my explanation wich I find coherent with the movie^^

I'm getting pissed off with people constantly comparing Bale's Batman to Affleck's Batman, it's pointless. Bales's Batman is supposed to be a more realistic take on the character, essentially trying to create a Batman who could exist in the real world (even if some of his gadgets were pushing the envelope). Whereas Affleck's Batman is more of a comic book batman who is fighting aliens and other superheroes. Comparing them makes as much sense as comparing an MMA fighter to a character out of Dragon Ball Z.

You're right you cant compare the 2. I blame all this comparing on DC. They released TDKR in 2012 and started filming BvS in early 2013. They got greedy, they saw how well TDKR was received critically and how it made over a billion dollars and figured anything Batman they put out would do the same. I don't mind Batfleck but I prefer the realistic approach, and judging by the numbers most people do...

The difference here from the first fight is the complete role reversal in desperation & Batman actually respecting a foe's power in an opponent for the first time. Batman isn't throwing himself at Bane in desperation to beat him, like he did in the first fight. As Bane said, ''you fight like a younger man, with nothing held back, admirable but mistaken''. Batman is still taking heavy hits from Bane but he rarely leaving himself wide open to a bad counter like he constantly did in the sewers. Here Batman is using controlled aggression always looking for an opening instead of mindless anger & desperation fueling his attacks. Previously, he always just would just overpower whoever he came up against, whether it was the Mob, Ra al Ghul, the Joker, Two-Face, etc..simply due to the fact he was more powerful physically. That's the mistake he made in the sewers. Previously he never had to take into account someone might be his equal physically or even more powerful which requires tactics & strategy. Here he continuously targets Bane's mask until it breaks. Also, while Batman is calculating in his attacks, Bane increasingly loses with cool, growing desperate just like Batman in the sewers, especially after Batman breaks his mask. Bane in the sewers used Batman's desperation against him, here Batman uses Bane's desperation against him.

+Ciaran O'Connell Both fights in "The Dark Knight Rises" are meant to mirror Batman's fight with the Mutant Leader in "The Dark Knight Returns." Batman first tries taking on the Mutant Leader using nothing but brute force, but is weak from his old age and gets beaten. Then, in order to defeat him and break the morale of his followers, he sets the Mutant Leader up to battle him again. This time, Batman is fighting on his own terms and puts more thought into how he engages his opponent. Clips from both encounters are on KZbin and you can see the similarities.

***** You are missing the point. During the first fight he fought because he wanted a purpose not because he really needed to, that is why he lost. He wasn't a hero anymore he just wanted to be one. Then, when Batman left the hole, he did it by jumping without the rope, meaning that you are your best when you only have one chance and failure means your life and that is the attitude with which he fights Bane later. Failure to defeat Bane means death for him and all of Gotham's citizens. Heroes are born when circumstances demand them. At any rate you could say that Batman got lucky to destroy Bane's mask in the second fight anyways.

This film was a masterpiece. It's really hard to understand what was new to this film than its previous 2 opposite films. This film focuses on pain, and that letting burden go will make you stronger. This symbolizes Bruce climbing out of the pit, he always needed to be Batman to escape turmoil. He needs to be Bruce Wayne to save Gotham. It would have been nice to see Bane play a part in the chase, but other than that complaint, this is still a pivotal Batman film which closes The Dark Knight's journey beautifully from using fear as a weapon to preventing chaos to letting go of pain.

You can see Batman going for Bane's face (his mask to be more specific) through the entire fight since now he knew that his mask deliver anesthetic, and it paid off when he managed to break Bane's Mask, you keep hearing the metallic sound of Batman punching him in the mask. In the first fight Batman wasted a ton of energy punching Bane in the chest and you could tell Bane didn't give a fuck (probably because of his drug) most likely that's why he lost the first time around.

2:35 onwards is thrilling and amazing. The fight scenes with Batman in the Knight are sequence and the warehouse scene in BvS were really well done. I dunno why, I keep coming back to watch the second Bane fight. The music, the fact it's daytime with the snowy backdrop is too epic and unique. The color palette is pretty good, not too blue or grey and quite 'normal' for a lack of a better word.

I'm realizing after a more thorough look at this movie that both Bane and Batman's style are completely different. Bane's style is usually on the offense, trying to brutally attack anything in his path. Batman on the other hand uses a blend of defense techniques and tries to figure out his opponent's weaknesses, and this fight in particular kind of reminds of Rocky. It's not supposed to be this fast intense shaky cam martial art stunt work that you'd see in like a Jason Bourne movie, it's two guys viciously fighting for both their own lives and for the soul of Gotham. The stakes are personal, so their isn't anything flashy or fancy about it. Batman almost seemed to use this technique that Rocky uses: he waits it out for his opponent to get tired, and then strikes when the moment is right, but there's no bell, no rules, no refs, just plain all out brawl. Sure the choreography might be slow paced but that's part of the realistic universe that these characters have been adapted into. The gritty feel to the fights in these movies makes them seem like I'm way more emotionally invested in what's going to happen. Nolan did an amazing job with this one just like the other two in the Trilogy.

This final fight between the caped crusader and Bane is goddamn fantastic. Everything about it is as if Christopher Nolan took their fight in the sewer at the beginning of the movie not mention the image of Batman and then flipped it all 180. 1) He's out in brad daylight. 2) He's fighting along the police who hunted him and drove him away in the past. 3) 1:55 Batman rises above Bane on a stair case similar to the first fight but this time instead of screaming in vane for a fight he cannot win he turns to face his enemy in silence. 4) Bane catches him with the same move as their first fight at 2:04 but then instead of it being used against him Batman manages to break free and breaks Bane's mask at 2:24 the way his cowl was broken in the beginning. 5) 2:41 Bane loses all the cool and calm attitude he was known for in the past similar to how Batman lost it on him and in turn loses the fight.

Bruce Wayne was never stronger than Bane. Pound for pound, he was objectively weaker. He might have been better armored, but that meant very little. The reason why Batman beat Bane is because Bruce Wayne lived where Bane was born. For 3 months, Bruce felt the darkness. He lived in death. He ate, drank, and slept despair. He used that as his weapon. He became the dark knight that he needed to become. He became the man who falls. He finally became, the Batman. AND also, in the end, I seriously think Bruce (and I call him Bruce because in this scene IMO he is more Bruce than Batman and by that I mean he is more regular man than heroic symbol. And Bruce was in that hole in the desert, not Batman.) I think Bruce would have killed him. Batman doesn't kill, but Bruce Wayne is a citizen and at that point in time, Bane was such a threat to Gotham that the only way to stop him was to kill him. Bruce would have had the legal authority to kill him kind of like how a regular person has the legal authority to kill someone harming another person. I don't know, I think too deeply about this movie. Also at 2:40 you see the training Tom Hardy did for this movie. You don't throw body punches that fast, even if they're fake, unless you did a few months of training. He trained hard for the movie Warrior and I think they just told him to stay in shape for this movie.

+Vic Vinegar You're falling into the trap of thinking that brute strength is the only - or even deciding factor - in the outcome of a fight. I totally agree with the comment above mine from +elcap22, Bruce Wayne in his prime destroys Bane. He's faster, his technique is more refined and he knows how to control a fight, the latter of which actually wins him the fight here in spite his weakened state. In neither of the fights - even the fight Bane wins - is his technique equal to Batman's, it's simply his brute strength that wins through in the first fight...which is actually a perfect representation of the Bane character, really.

Random Garreh wait. No. My entire thing was about how Bane was stronger but Batman still won because he had the entire city behind his efforts.

+Vic Vinegar Sure but you said "Bruce Wayne was never stronger than Bane" which I read as alluding to the past as well. If that was just a figure of speech on your part then fair enough ;)
