Where did George go when the Spahn Ranch Burned in 1970?
Tour of the Spahn Ranch and the History of George Spahn. Charles Manson and the Family lived on the ranch in 1969 when Helter Skelter, the Tate LaBianca Murders were carried out. Donald "Shorty" Shea was murdered on the property a few weeks later.
Clayton Moore, the Lone Ranger, recounts a sinister visit with George Spahn and coming face to face with Charles Manson.
The Ranch was burned in 1970 in the Clampitt Fire in Topanga Canyon. George Spahn moved to a ranch in North Hollywood and died in 1974.
George was portrayed by Bruce Dern in the Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

My dad used to tell me these two Manson stories. At that time. My dad was a young M.D. working at Canoga Park Hospital (now called West Hills Hospital) and West Park Hospital. Now, my dad was about 6'5" and a combat WW2 Vet. Nothing scared him. Until his visit to Spahn Ranch. But first let me back up a bit. One night when it was his turn to be the overnight doc at the West Park Hospital ER. One of the nurses came to him to see if he could get some druggie out of the hospital's trash bin. Back then hospitals threw out used needles and did not put them in sharps containers. Nice , I know. So, out comes my dad. with a flashlight and sure enough there was a scraggly little dude rummaging around and collecting needles and syringes. Dad yelled at the guy and guess who it was? Charles Manson. So, Charlie got out and started yelling at him. Until he looked up and like the coward he was. He ran off screaming four lettered words and how he was going to get his revenge. yadda yadda yadda. Flash forward 3 to 4 months later a girl from Chatsworth comes into the Canoga Park ER with a broken leg. He set and plastered it and never thought anything of it. Flash forward a month later or so land he is on call and back then Docs made house calls. He was charged with driving up to the Spahn Ranch and remove the cast. As my dad puts it. As he was driving into the old wild west set and seeing these disheveled and dirty people peering at him through broken windows and the smell of human waste was strong to say the least. He said that he never was so scared in his life as he got out. Charlie was in the door way staring at him and at a point Charlie remembered who my dad was. His face went tense and anger covered his face as his drew back into the shadows of the building. My dad got his stuff and as he said it. He performed the worlds fastest cast removal. He didnt even bother with the paperwork. He got the hell out of there......I always asked why we never moved to Chatworth. I think that was the reason.

Yeah, he ended up having a 45 yr career at West Hills. He had tons of crazy stories like the time that Steve Garvey and his wife has had a massive fight in his medical office or when Adam Rich from Eight is Enough broke into his office to steal his prescription pads and tried to fake his signature for hard prescription drugs........and lots more...Enough for a book. I always told him He could make millions from the stuff that happened to him. But HIPPA rules would probably prevent it from being published.@@TheMelamia

Love this video. My wife is the great granddaughter of George Spahn. We lived in that house for awhile in 2002-2004ish with her grandmother. My wife loves that doll of George Spahn. Anyway if her able to purchase one? We did your tour about 2yrs prior to covid. It was fantastic. Out of all Manson historians you are top.

So family "fun" fact. My moms first husband (I'm from her 2nd marriage) remarried after he and my mom split, but my mom and him stayed relatively close because they'd had 5 kids together. One year in my early 20s we were all invited to his house for Thanksgiving and there's a guy sitting in front of the fireplace playing an acoustic guitar. My sister cones up and whispers to me that he was Steve Grogan aka Clem, who was convicted of murdering "Shorty" Shea. My mom's first husband had married his sister. Apparently she used to play on Spahn Ranch as a kid when he'd bring her there. He was really quiet and I honestly dont remember him saying anything, just played his guitar. It was very bizarre. My family's claim to fame?

Hi Scott, I was wondering if you have ever looked into another Hollywood area cult called the source family and Father Yod? The guy opened a health food cafe that lots of actors patronized. Father Yod was killed in a hang gliding accident. Everyone in the group took on a name and they used Aquarian as their last name. I wondered if any of them had any connection with Manson and his group. I think they did cause there is an old guy who recently died who was using the Aquarian last name I think he had been involved with the death of the Manson follower known as Zero , who died in a house near Venice California supposedly from playing Russian roulette. What do you know about them?

Thanks for another video of Spahn ranch, Scott. I know you've been there before, with Six Degrees of Helter Skelter, but it's always fun to get another look & perspective. In 1969, I lived in Fresno, but I had three sister cousins who lived in Northridge. I didn't talk to them about Manson at the time, but asked one of them awhile back, if they had ever visited Spahn ranch around that time, and they said yes. They had stopped to look at the horses, and someone there identified the place as where Charles Manson lived. Their visit was otherwise uneventful. In later years, they had attended the Church at Rocky Peak, across the road. In 1976 I was living in LA and drove by the site for a quick look, but didn't have time to walk onto the property. Wish I had.
