Just yesterday, the 4th of July marked the 1-year anniversary of my channel. It's been an interesting journey so far, and I'm especially thankful for the subscribers & viewings of my channel! Stay tuned for another year of Video Insights! :D

I really do appreciate your praise and appreciation for my essays. And yeah- I wish the channel had been more successful. Or that I could have had more of a community around it, a small following, even just a few thousand subscribers, a consistent interest in the videos. I've had this channel for 4 years now, and never even obtained 1000 Subscribers. To be honest with you- I've nearly given up on KZbin, and making essays. Not for lack of ideas, but just lack of viewership, lack of momentum & traction. Now-a-days, I work 2 jobs, I don't have much freetime, I just focus on my personal finances really. I do intend to put out at least 1 more essay before 2019 ends. But yeah- after that the channel may go on hiatus for awhile (few years maybe). That's the way I see things going anyway. But yeah- if you're interested, stick around at least until the end of 2019. I've been working on this one Essay for awhile, I think it'll be a good one, if I can finish it before 2019 ends. :)

I didn't even get a notification about your reply, just the like; only saw this now when I was scrolling through my Favorites to give video recommendations to a friend. Typical KZbin algorithm, I guess, but in a way it's sort of indicative of the way YT treats its smaller content creators that aren't pumping out viral content. I actually came across your videos while doing an extensive youtube scouring of LotR video essays, and only six months later when I actually went to watch all the videos I'd accumulated in a Watch Later list did I stumble across your channel. Lots of high-subscriber count, well-polished video essays in amongst it all, but yours was the only smaller channel whose essays I watched that actually struck me as well-made. I did subscribe after initially watching this, and I'm interested to see what else you have in store. In a way, a lot of the algorithm is about striking a bit lucky, and the side effect of that is that channels like yours fall to the wayside. It's a shame.

Oh, believe me man, I've often lamented & loathed about the KZbin Algorithms and KZbin's treatment (disregard) for small channels, for up-and-comers. In some sense I get it, I understand. Much of what is out there isn't so great, or polished, or refined. But there are so many truly amazing KZbin Channels out there that go on for years with little or no support from KZbin or anyone or anywhere. Austin McConnell is a KZbinr who actually is promoting small-channels, I love him for that, he's a KZbin Hero of mine. I've also heard it said "You've got to make your own breaks, collaborate, submit content to online websites and articles, etc etc". I've done all that. All of it. With little or often no success. I couldn't even tell you how many times and places I submitted my video essays for consideration on Websites, Social Media Outlets, Relevant Fan Pages, everything you could imagine. And nothing much ever worked or replied to me. I did submit my Iris Scott Artist Video to and Art-Focused Website, and they did actually publish my video to their website with my name credited and everything. I wonder if that publication greatly helped the Iris Scott Video to be my 2nd most popular video on my channel. I think it did. Also there was a semi-well-known Australian Friend of mine with a truly significant following on Social Media who actually shared a few of my videos on his Social Media, and I am so grateful for him doing that; because he didn't have to, but he did. One of the videos he shared was the Boromir Essay actually, and when he shared it, it actually got a bit of attention, which I greatly appreciated. So I am grateful for the little victories my channel has had. As I mentioned before; these days I just don't have the time to focus on KZbin and I kind of feel even if I had done maximum efforts of pumping content this year in 2019, it wouldn't have made much a difference. I've also been having a kind of Technological Existential Crisis, where I've come to realize how much I've been wasting time, focus, and life energy on social media. Recently (this past month or so) I began purging my social media. This channel used to have a Facebook & Twitter Page (I deleted it). I also had a Patreon Page (It didn't get any support) so I deleted that as well (But I do still support several other content creators via Patreon). But personally- I deleted all my personal social media accounts, and eventually I'd like to get to the point where I do not even use KZbin (or extremely minimal use of watching KZbin videos). My reasons for purging Social Media is the same reasons anyone does it (Takes away time, it's artificial, it's superficial, it distracts me, it pulls me away from the people and things I truly care about, etc etc). I actually may put out a short mini-essay about my current thoughts on Social Media and my own little purging of Social Media experience thus-far. Also I'll tell you- that "One Essay" I've been working on passively for a long time is actually One Final LOTR Essay. A comprehensive extensive LOTR essay with a great angle and focus to it. It's definitely a diamond in the rough, if I can finish the script and find the time to put-in the work. I actually already accomplished some of the video editing for it (despite an unfinished script). So it's coming. I'd also love to do a video on the 1983 Film Wargames (if there's time). But I have (kind of vowed) not to make anything for a few years after 2019 ends. I do think that one day some years later (maybe 2022, or 2023) I'll return to make videos again. Time will tell. :)

@@VirtueInsightWebPage Coincidentally, the key motivator for me to go through my big list of LotR stuff was me trying to clean up my social media and have less ties to it as well. Deleted twitter, instagram, snapchat, cleaning up my youtube and facebook so I use them less, the works. It might be worth doing a video on that topic, honestly.
