I grew up deeeeeeeeep in the back woods where I had to get on the bus at 5 am for the 4 hour bus ride through the mountain one lane dirt “roads”for school. Bears hibernating under porches type of boonies. Life and Adventures of Santa Claus with the Great Ak and forest spirits was more real to me at 5 years old than any ridiculous ‘One foot in front of the other’. After I moved from a place where the legally listed population of 200 people wasn’t half filled with illegally claimed pets on taxes, I have yet to meet a single person in 30 years that has ever heard of that movie when I mention it.

The Netherlands really loves them their Sinterklaas Christmas Season. They're more fanatical about it than Americans are.
@ilse38877 күн бұрын
ps: and i can garanty that when it comes to christmas ..it is the amercians that are way more fanatic about it...sure..we decorate..put up lights..but nothing as extravigant and over the top as the americans do!! no giant blowup santa's on the rooftops..hardly any light reindeers in the front gardens..our christmas trees are decorated a lot more modest..so i do not where you get your infornation from..but as a dutch citizen i can tell you..we dutch have a saying..."act normal..that is crazy enough!!" so when it comes to fanatic christmas behaviour/ traditions...the americans take first prize!!

At first, it was about the Christian (Catholic) Church gaining converts, so they would adopt what the locals were doing and try to make it more biblical. Today, it is all about corporations making a buck from it. I guess Christians just wish to remain blissfully ignorant. I left the church when I learned all the lies they continue to spew out. Not really wanting to know the roots of what the Bible really says.

I have studied the tanakh. (Where they get the Bible from. ) He wasn't even born at this time. The 25th of Kislev (a winter month) is the start of chanukah. That was when the annunciation was made. Nine months later, there is a Holy Day called sukkoth. The tanakh tells about what happened that will be fulfilled in the future. It's just that this timeline makes more sense to me

Agreed... I'm surprised the Rankin/Bass productions weren't discussed since they did a lot to help define the modern legends. Specifically "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town".

You missed something about Santa Claus's media depiction in the early 20th Century. He was given a new mythos by L. Frank Baum, the author of *The Wizard of Oz* stories in a story called The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus where he was a mortal raised in an enchanted forest by immortal creatures before becoming what he is usually depicted as and would eventually be granted immortality near the end of the story.

Hiya, from a fantasy storyteller to a fantastic mystical storyteller. Love your Christmas Carol story, very informative. As far as my preferred Santas, it's Richard Attenborough as Kris Kringle in the Miracle on 34th Street; then Tim Allen in The Santa Clause Trilogy and recently, Kurt Russell in the two Santa's Chronicles.

Saint Nicholas, upon whom Santa Claus was largely derived, existed his entire life LIVING the final phase of the Fall of Rome. I would imagine that was a time of Great Hardship for MUCH of the Mediterranean World. Nicholas lived his whole life helping others to cope with the Fall of Rome. That was a pretty special dude, considering how Monumental his Task was. 6:46 This part right here, they obviously cribbed from Jesus Christ's Miracle of Walking On Water. Right Here: Matthew Chapter 14, Verses 22 - 33

Well in som contries and sweden and other Europan contries too. We believed in Nicholas. That was a Nice person who actually gave gift to people. But from the beginning had nothing to do with christmas. Fine If they want to refer that oden and northern myths. I would say no to that. Im scandinavian so I say its wrong. Santa Claus comes more accurate from crampus. A german believe. Actually before Santa Claus in scandinavian we had a ram, That came with gifts.

Santa Claus predates Coca Cola, Sinta Klaas in the Netherlands wore a red cloak. Father Christmas, a different person to Santa Claus, in the U.K. wore a green cloak and probably predates Christmas as a pagan tradition.
