Hufflepuff. Ah, the badgers we are. When I first took the Pottermore test I was PRAYING to get in Ravenclaw. Not only that but I was convinced I was a Ravenclaw. I'm the "smartass" kid in the class whom everyone hates because she gets good grades, I like learning stuff : I actually fit in the raven community really well. But I wanted to know in which house I was truly in, so I answered the questions honestly. And I got Hufflepuff. I had a mini identity crisis. "But Hufflepuff sucks. They're just...there. They don't do anything. They just exist." And when I remember what I thought was Hufflepuff back then, I'm absolutely not kidding, I want to cry. Because from where I am now I am wearing that badger pride everywhere I go, and the idea of "I'm a Hufflepuff" has actually helped me become a better person in a way. I know Hogwarts houses' traits shouldn't define you, but look, that's how it happened for me. I have now also understood why I am a Hufflepuff. Because I can be brave, I can be smart, I can be ambitious, but above all, kindness is what I value most. I am a Hufflepuff, and I am freaking proud of being one. I don't go around handing cookies. I don't hug strangers for the eff of it. I am me and I accept people the way they are. I offer shoulders to cry on any day. As long as you want to be friends, I'll befriend you, and I will be loyal to you as long as you stay loyal to me. But be a douchebag to me or those I love and I will beat the crap out of you, because tell me, what the heck gives you the right to hurt someone ? Your bravery, wit or overall "superiority" ? I don't think so.

I completely agree with you. I always knew I was a Hufflepuff but I am like you said you are. I will always be loyal to my friends but that doesn't mean I'll be a pushover if someone messes with me-I was once but no more-I accept people no matter what and these are the things that make up Hufflepuffs special

I think that the Hufflepuffs weren't described that great during the books, until the end. In the battle of Hogwarts the Slytherins didn't stay and fight, half of the Ravenclaws did, the Hufflepuffs stayed, and the Gryffindors stayed. The Gryffindors stayed because they are brave, but they also show boat. The Gryffindors wanted to prove that they are brave. It's ok that I say this because everyone loves Gryffindors, I mean, I LOVE Gryffindors. As a child I always wanted to be a Gryffindor. The Hufflepuffs on the other hand stayed to fight for a different reason. They stayed because they wanted to help their friends, family, and the whole wizarding world. Hufflepuffs aren't known to be brace, like Gryffindors, but they are loyal. They aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in, and that's just what they did. The reason Hufflepuffs are so excited that being a Hufflepuff is "cool" is because we were looked down upon for so long. Just now everyone is realizing what a great house we are. This is why I, a proud Hufflepuff, will always stand up for not only myself, but for my fellow Hufflepuffs. So anyone who wants to say other wise is going to have to take down hardworking, loyal, and dedicated people.

There will be some Hufflepuffs that have no characteristics from Hufflepuff. Helga took students who didn't fit in anywhere because she believed that everyone deserved magical education. Also Hufflepuffs are smart, brave and sometimes cunning but we don't like to brag. At all. So, not a lot of people will know about our talents. We aren't just loyal and nice too.

i hate how everyone forgets that in the third book Cedric Digory is seeker and when he wins the match for Hufflepuff and the demontors get harry he tried to get a replay. I was like #hufflepuffpride at that part

I remember going on to Pottermore to find my house, I remember thinking Right ok, any house apart from Hufflepuff and Slytherin. That's where I thought I would fit in. But guess what, I got Hufflepuff. A few days later, I started to get over that I was in Hufflepuff and enjoyed that I was in Hufflepuff. I asked my friends what house the were in, all of them said either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. Yay. I went home that day and tried to work out why Hufflepuff was overlooked and not really noticed. Now everyone has read nearly all of the Harry Potter series and at 60 in the Philosophers/Sorcerers Stone, Draco started the horrible things being sad about Hufflepuff. Draco said something along the lines of "If I was put in Hufflepuff I think I'd leave. Would you?" From then on the rivalry started... Every house has taken part in this 'rivalry' against Hufflepuff. Even if it was the tiniest bit of shade thrown on Hufflepuff that your house gave, J.K Rowling stated that Hufflepuff was her favourite house and (if you haven't read the Deathly Hallows don't read this bit) J.K also said that the Hufflepuffs stayed for the RIGHT reason in the battle of Hogwarts. Hufflepuffs didn't become cowards and run away scared. (Apart from one person, I know that) Now hold your horses before you type all of your mean comments. I'm not fighting for my house because Hufflepuff is my house. I'm saying that Hufflepuffs are patient, loyal, trustful and more. They make the most friends and are kind and trustworthy. That's why we were sorted this way, because Helga Hufflepuff was ALL of those things and what The Sorting Hat is saying we are tiny versions of Helga. Not that all the other houses are not friendly or anything. It was just the spirit of Helga Hufflepuff. Like how Godric Gryffindor was brave and courageous. Like how Rowena Ravenclaw was smart and keen to learn and like how Salazar Slytherin was evil and cunning. That's why we were sorted into different houses, because we have the spirit of the creators of the houses. I love how we are all so passionate about our houses and I hope you understand what I'm meaning about Hufflepuff. From a fellow Hufflepuff, thank you

Thank you for a splendid talk on the subject. Just being the kind of person I am I knew I was a Hufflepuff long before being sorted and it's a good feeling to know I was right. My personal motto is "Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one's looking" and Hufflepuffs seem to also take that to heart. It is a shame that there wasn't as much attention in the books and movies as their probably should have been, but then, Huffles don't really call attention to themselves. We know our qualities even though others may not, and that's enough :) I do agree with you also how some weren't the best examples, but everyone is different and we all have our strengths and weaknesses and I agree that the sorting isn't looking for all the qualities that put you in a given house, but what you can become. Who would have thought Neville would become one of the bravest Gryffindors in history? True, other houses may outshine ours, but I think we're ok with that and we are still loyal and friendly and support them. After all, by raising up the brighter lights, Hufflepuffs help everyone see :)

I think Hufflepuffs are late bloomers. People criticize the Hufflepuffs during their early Hogwarts years, but we have to remember, they were still kids, and were just learning to become individuals....But in their senior years like Cedric, or after Hogwarts like Tonks, Amelia Bones, and Newt Scamander, they finally discover what they really are and what they can do, and thus become accomplished people.

I just found out yesterday on Pottermore that I am officially a Hufflepuff! And at first I felt iffy about it, because I know a lot of people haven't liked Hufflepuffs before, but I am truly glad that it seems like everyone is warming up to them and starting to like them more now! I honestly never knew why everyone hated them. They've produced just as many great wizards and their house values are of the upmost importance. In order to be loyal and just, you have to be brave (also the sorting hat said they are un afraid). They are honest, true, determined, and hardworking. What's not to love about hufflepuffs? Plus, have you seen how awesome a honey badger is? Smart creatures with incredible defences (including immunities to poisons), and the most fearless animals.

Oh, I dunno...I'm just going to continue with my duties of defending Slytherins, discussing new ideas with Ravenclaws, and being friends 'til the end with Gryffindors. Maybe it is finally "our turn"- that would be sweet, but we don't need the pressures of recognition. I don't mind being ignored some. Anyway, I am very, very proud to be a Hufflepuff, and would not trade it for anything in the world!!! I love my fellow house members, and we have SO much fun! I was recently sorted into Hufflepuff, and Pottermore, though do not think it suits me. Everyone, including myself, always thought I would be a Ravenclaw or Gryffindor.... Some even thought Slytherin. Hufflepuff was the house I least expected, despite adoring both Cedric and Tonks. I think the reason I was sorted into Hufflepuff, is due to my work ethic and never being one to seek the limelight. Despite, having dominant traits of the other Hogwarts houses. Though, in a way, Hufflepuff is the more modest and less brash version of Gryffindor.... Which is probably a good thing. My Ilvermorny house is Thunderbird, and it suits me perfectly. I am intelligent yet temperamental, and loves experiencing new things. I am also someone who is consistently looking to better myself, to live a meaningful life.

I think part of the reason people were shocked to learn that Teddy Lupin was a Hufflepuff, was because they assumed he would have been a Gryffindor like his father. He was also raised by his Slytherin grandmother, and spent a lot of time with his Gryffindor godfather. Basically, no one expected Teddy to take after the Tonks side of the family.

Hufflepuffs are plenty brave, but they don't believe that bravery is everything in life. They're smart and like to learn, but that's not either everything. They're hardworking and can be ambitious, but they don't let that get in the way of being fair and doing what's right. They do things, not for the credit or glory, but because it's right.

I love all these houses, but as a Ravenclaw, I do kinda feel left behind now. Especially at the realisation that in the original series, all the major antagonists that weren't Slytherin were Ravenclaw. Quirinus Quirrell was a Ravenclaw, Gilderoy Lockheart was a Ravenclaw, and even the twisted reporter we all know and hate Rita Skeeter is theorized to be a Ravenclaw(a theory which I accept). It kinda sucks.

My mother is a Hufflepuff. Even though, I got sorted into Ravenclaw, l know that I am a lot like a Hufflepuff too. The only difference is, my mom helps people when they don't deserve it but, I see that and warn her. I remind her to not let herself be used and that's where my wisdom starts kicking in. I always try my best to be as knowledgeable about as many topics as possible with valuable resources to back up those facts. It took me some time to accept Ravenclaw as my house but, I still love Hufflepuff! And I really do have a Hufflepuff heart when I let my guard down. I am a PROUD Gryffindor. I have several friends that I love fiercely who are Hufflepuffs! We Gryffindors tend to get labeled as showoffs because we have a STRONG tendency to let our flashiness and more outgoing nature get the best of us. Hufflepuffs are just as brave and daring as we are but they tend to not be as flashy. We Gryffindors could learn a lot about balancing our flashiness with our bravery from the Hufflepuffs in our lives. We can also encourage them and let them shine more. This is why our houses compliment each other and balance each other out SO well. We are glad that Hufflepuff is our sister house.

Newt Scamander might get more people to like Hufflepuff. I figured out that I'm a Hufflepuff a few months ago (first thinking for 2 years that I was Slytherin) and I honestly wouldn't want to be in any other house. A lot of my friends have been teasing and poking on me for being in Hufflepuff. And the only "logical" reasons they have to hate on Hufflepuff is that Hufflepuff sounds boring to them. I don't find that a reason to literally HATE Hufflepuff..

Let me just tell one thing, we are JUST and loyal not just loyal. We are not lost puppies, we are people with a sense of understanding and analysing and I believe all the stereotyping makes people hate us. If someone really has knowledge of Hufflepuff they'll know not to mess with our loved ones and that we are not stupid or some waste of space. Whomever has beliefs against us despite them learning about us, I pity you because I know you couldn't survive in a world without JUSTICE or LOYALTY. In the chambers of secrets a big part o the Gryffindors house give their back to harry because they think that he was who open the chambers of secrets Or in the goblet of fire when a lot of Gryffindor's don't support harry because they believe that he put his name in the goblet, Or in the order of the phoenix, when some Gryffindor's tell to harry lyier because he says ''Voldemort Back''... Ahhh, of course, it's because the Sorting Hat say that the Accept all the persons who are rejected from the other house And Now JK is like ''I'm gonna do a Film where the main character comes from Hufflepuff house... I have a few issues with this video (that I hope to express respectfully!). You only mentioned how annoying Ernie was in the second book, but in the fifth book, he was one of the people who stood by Harry and believed Harry about Voldemort returning right from the beginning. And I also think that a huge reason why Hufflepuffs don't seem to be ass remembered isn't because they are useless, it is because they don't care about being remembered. Hufflepuffs value doing the right thing for the right reason above doing things for glory. If a Hufflepuff made the world a better place, then what does it matter that people don't remember their accomplishments? The values are placed on the acts themselves, not on how other people will perceive and remember those acts. And I also kind of disliked the structure to this video, how good Hufflepuffs were only mentioned at the end. But I also agree, Ravenclaws have Luna, who is a beloved character, whereas Hufflepuffs cannot look to any of Harry's peers with much pride (although, like I said earlier, Ernie was a much better person than you said he was).

Hufflepuffs have great people in it, sure there's some not-so memorable hufflepuff characters, but we have Cedric, Tonks, Newt and Teddy, don't worry we forgive you :) I'm a hufflepuff and I'm just going to say it, Helga did take the rest, she did of course take the people who had the qualities of her house, but if someone didn't fit in any of the houses she would take them anyway, because she believed everyone should have a chance, a hufflepuff can be just as or even more smart/ambitious/brave as any student from the other houses, but at the end of the day a true hufflepuff will value kindness, patience and loyalty over everything

Both Hufflepuff and Slytherin are extremely underrated. people think all Hufflepuffs are wimps, and that all Slytherin's are evil. This is most definitely not true. Hufflepuffs are fair and hardworking. They don't crack under pressure and they can overcome challenges. They accept people for who they are and don't judge. They do what is right over what is easy. The problem is that they don't care what everyone says about them because in their heart they know they're amazing, so they don't feel the need to prove their awesomeness. They fought at the battle of Hogwarts because it was right, not for the glory or credit. Plus Tonks, J.K.Rowling, Cedric Diggory and Newt Scamander are all Hufflepuffs, proving their awesomeness. In some ways, I think Slytherin is rather similar to Hufflepuff. For example, both houses are hard workers, it's just the difference of determination versus ambition. What I'm mentally sorting someone (yes I do that sometimes) if I think they're suitable for Hufflepuff I usually reevaluate and think maybe they're better in slytherin, because there's just a slight difference in the way they do things. But Slytherins get a bad rep because of their ambition. Some Slytherins are overly ambitious and they do whatever it takes to surpass success, not leaving fowl play out of the picture. Because of this, the Slytherins we mostly hear about are the ones that were evil and did exactly that. This doesn't mean that all Slytherins are like that at all. Slytherins are sly and cunning, and never give up on their dreams. They aren't like Gryffindors who are sometimes headstrong and don't think things through properly(no offense to any Gryffindors). They plan things out carefully to mix up a recipe for success. This doesn't mean that they're evil!! Also Merlin and Andromeda Tonks were both slytherins, and they were definitely not evil. So be proud of your house, and know that you are NOT a wimp, and you are NOT evil. #hufflepuffpride #slytherinpride And this, by the way, is coming from a Ravenclaw.💙💛💚❤️

Personally I've always seen Ravenclaw as a really 1 dimensional house. Slytherins are forwards thinking, ambitious and cunning Grinders are brave, natural leaders and fight for whats right Hufflepuffs are loyal, hard working and honest. Ravenclaws are smart, intelligent and witty (which are all the same thing) The other three house all have multiple traits that make for rich characters. Ravenclaws are just smart, and thats it. I'm sure theres more to Ravenclaw, and if any proud blue and bronze people want to explain what else you have besides a brain, this patient badger is happy to listen :)

Alice Pope-Terry Nope because a lot of traits you are missing in your description about Ravenclaw's is that they take pride in Eccentricity and they are elaborately creative with vivid imagination and very outspoken with little to no filter as Luna has. Luna is a textbook description of a Ravenclaw.

Cool. I don't know why but I feel like all of those traits aren't very publicised. It al,os seems like Ravenclaws get over looked the most. Grfindors have spotlight because of harry. Slitherins have had spotlight by everyone defending it and saying its not the evil house. and Hufflepuff has grabbed spotlight by a) people defending it because of all the hate it tends to get and b) FBAWTFT Where as ravenclaws have always just been accepted and there for overlooked. Which is a shame. Hopefully in the next wizarding world property it'll have a ravenclaw protagonist. After all it is the only house that hasn't had a character in the driving seat.
