The sad part about Dr. Tenma in the 1980 series is that he only appeared for the first two episodes (in the English dub, it was the first episode). He was last seen calling out for robot son in a cruise ship when robot Tobi was kidnapped by the circus master at the end of the episode.

But regardless he's not Toby, Professor. You haven't taken his soul and put it into the machine. You've created only his likeness. It's not a resurrection. It's a replacement. Is an insult to your sons memory. Yes he is unique and yes, he could be a benefit to the world, but he's not your son. Or, rather, he's not the son you lost. He just looks like him. And it's unhealthy for either of you going forward with that perspective. If you have built him with a different likeness, that would be one thing. But you're calling him Toby, and acting as though he never died. Again, it's not healthy. And hell, you built him with rocket boots and butt cannons for God sake.

Which is something most of the reinterpratations kept (even the arasawa's one). The sad thing is that he still kinda stay a broken man in most of said stories, but at least he got over it... Kinda

Bro... Astro Boy is like the Mickey Mouse of Japanese animation. It's the founding father of anime. There was a manga, then a 60s anime, then this 80s anime, and a 2003 anime. Astro Boy is huge. The horrid 2009 movie was just a terrible adaptation that was awful. Would highly recommend checking it all out.

I find this very true. The youth have been and are always apolitical and apathetic to politics. There is a reason why parents are shielding children from the harsh realities of the world. I agree there. Freedom of speeches for the youth, can also do more bad than good. Limits are sometimes needed. It depends which party wins. Either the liberal side or the conservative side. Y'know, dispite that my first exposure to Astro Boy was accidentally the 2009 movie since I kinda thought it was fun imo? I gotta say, after discovering the original Astro Boy, this is pretty cool, I like it. Plus, after learning that there was another Astro Boy show that also aired on a favorite channel of mine which also first gotten me into anime in the first place besides Toonami,4Kids, and KidsWB growing up called Jetix? I felt even more happy :D
