It was an asset flip from the UE store. Nearly all of it. Even the city. They put probably 2 weeks of work into this. When they showed that initial gameplay teaser earlier this year and it was completely empty...yeah, that was all the work they did. For that gameplay video. They probably did zero work since then.

You would think they would have had a plan for it all but I guess not. Hope can only get you a certain distance especially when you operate at the behest of the general public and your success is based upon how much you are liked. There was clear interest in the game shown by the numbers watching and playing on release but they made to many false promises and it seems that may have come back to bite them. Everyone will get their refund one way or another so I guess that good but it's the annoyance of looking forward to something for so long just for it to die in your hands as soon as you get it lol

I think it’s crazy how they say they cared so much about the game and they quote put their “blood sweat and tears” into it, but are willing to dump it after 72 hours of it being released?? Like…. Why? If you cared so so much about your game, you wouldn’t dump it on the sidewalk so suddenly, clearly a company run by monkeys that haven’t got a clue about how a business works, nor how a game is ‘developed’ over time…..

The only way to explain their recent actions is to attribute the whole affair to an intentional, pre-meditated scheme to leverage the least amount of effort for the greatest financial gain at the expense of the gaming community. It's easy to "Monday morning quarterback," but it appears as if the whole thing was a scam from the start. Watching your early access gameplay saved me $40 USD. Thanks, Will!!!

I'm glad I could help you save your money. i do try and just be honest and give people a chance to see a game for what it is and make their own decisions. It's a shame that this company decided to do what they have especially when they set expectations so high but I guess all it is now is a cautionary tale. Hopefully someone else can do the same idea but better.
@beepboopbeepboop190 Жыл бұрын
There's no chance that's the case though. They're giving refunds on everything. They'll have made literally no money at the end of this. If they wanted to make money they would have kept it going and promising updates and not giving them until well after refund periods are over. To shut it down so quickly? They're making nothing from this. I think what they didn't count on was the gaming community and game-centric news absolutely shitting on the game for pretty much all of 2023 and all expecting/hoping it fails. For me this is like No Mans Sky -- oversell it, under deliver. Difference being NMS eventually made good on it and delivered an amazing, wonderful game. These guys just gave up. Super weird.

It's a shame, I feel to some extent that maybe while it started as a scam, they really wanted it to be true in the end? Considering they actually went ahead and released something. I do wonder how much of the financial constraints were real. Maybe just maybe, we get lucky and someome buys out the studio and does a proper job at it but who knows. For all it's worth, I do wish for a better ending than this. Even if they did initially wanted to scam people, I was willing to forgive if they had a change of heart and ended up taking it seriously!

I'm 100% with you on this subject.... game has / had some bones to be something. Really sad they wouldn't try to keep developing it, I was watching the reviews for the game and it started off bad but then as they release some patches and what not the percentages were changing. Started off with like 15% positive reviews and slowly climbed to 20% after the 3 or 4 day then they announced the closure and well that just tanked everything.
@JeffNyman Жыл бұрын
The reason for the immediate closure is pretty obvious. The hope was for a deploy that would bring in enough revenue to pay back their operating partners. The immediate backlash showed that their projected sales were not going to happen. If they didn't shut down immediatey, the partners would have had more legal options open to them to recoup losses. By shutting down immediately, they can claim various types of relief while they negotiate repayments. They were, in effect, gambling and the gamble didn't pay off.

At some point they realized that they actually have to realese something, they bought some assets (apparently they just went with presets and changed them up a bit), they half-assed a "game" around it and put it on Steam. Plausible deniability or whatever. It was never meant to be ... it was always only ever meant to make some money and "suddenly" the makers disappear in a puff of smoke.

The studio has a history of cancelling / dropping past game projects that were released in Steam Early access.

All Assets bought are what you are seeing. This was nothing more than a quick asset flip with not much time put into it... hyped up to generate as much purchases as they could on launch which was slightly over 200,000 units with the hopes that a percentage of those would not refund. A little under $5000 in cost for the assets... no employee costs... last checked approx 100,000 units refunded... even if another 50,000 refund and they slip by with 50,000 units that dont refund for what ever reasons... call it lazyness... at $40 a pop... that is 2 million dollars minus steams cut. This was nothing more than a scam and lets be honest... in regards to scams... pretty decent one at that... considering the take they potentionally could walk away with.
