Know enough that there's more than one way of getting it. I guess it happening to men is more surprising to people, but there's a whole f3tish dedicated to w0rshiping it. It happens to women too, but definitely not everyone can get it though.

@@notyesbetothefallssorcerer3272 It can happen to anyone. My ex assaulted me and resulted in prolapse. Ended up in the ER a few months later when it got worse and had corrective surgery. Surgery doesn't prevent it from happening again, though, so now it happens when I don't eat enough fiber or drink enough water. I also can't have children vaginally or else I risk it BIG TIME. If anyone puts anything up their butt without proper lubrication and relaxation then it can result in prolapse. If you spend more than 5 minutes trying to strain going to the bathroom, it'll happen to you, too. Just treat your butt with kindness folks... it's not fun at all.

@@katrabbit I definitely been told that it really helps if awake during the process of it. Understanding avoiding the t0ilet afterwards for several hours is a must, if planning it ahead, definitely doing the all business in b@throom helps too. I completely understand why Howie doesn't like being synonymous with OCD. But as someone who has had the disorder her whole life, growing up in the 90s there weren't many people (real or fiction) publicly living with OCD. Just Howie and Monk. I am so thankful to Howie for sharing his experiences.

@@zenmasterorwhatever Yes, please seek a professional opinion. The most dangerous thing about OCD stereotypes is people going _"ohmygosh, I'm so ocd hahaha"_ when all they mean is _"orderly"_ . Many people fail to recognise the actual (and dangerous) illness, because in the mainstream, it's just the _"quirky orderly and germaphobe"_ thing.

@@jameseiner I always thought that all my life. But recently I learned that I’m not the only one who has intrusive thoughts and I shouldn’t feel ashamed and that the stupid routines I can’t stop myself from are probably OCD. Maybe I should try to get a diagnosis.

@happytriangles Жыл бұрын
@@jameseiner Yup yup, I have OCD tendencies - as my psychologist puts it - and those alone make my depression and anxiety spirals exponentially worse. It has taken years of cognitive behavioral therapy to train myself to find the exit before the spirals get out of hand. I don't really attribute the intrusive thoughts to any one thing when my brain is basically a bullshit cocktail. Compulsive habits from things like dermatilomania and my obsessive anxiety with misophonia are still major issues and are probably the only points of embarrassment I feel about my mental health struggles. It's a point of sensitivity when I'm out trying to experience life because the stigma around people who get triggered by "minor" things are at best brushed off and at worst bullied for it. Depression is far more.... acceptable to talk about nowadays but OCD and related disorders are still pushed aside by public perception. It has a lot to due with ignorance and those stereotypes you mentioned. A lot of people who have them end up tucking themselves into a corner and I have no idea how many people go undiagnosed, let alone receive therapy, because of it.

Listening to his experience about him physically saying he had OCD really resonates with me. I was diagnosed with agoraphobia and I have a fear of just about everything. Mostly strangers and a fear of dying or being a victim of an attack.. I have those exact feelings when I am experiencing a panic attack. I have severe intrusive thoughts and when I get too nervous or overwhelmed I feel like I am going to black out and I have blacked out in the past.. which is why I fear it happening again more. Listening to his story started to make me have actual physical reactions to it.. like feeling nervous and anxious and having that dread feeling. It felt like hes almost telling my story in a way.. this is really special. To have someone like Howie explaining how serious this is for people like me. It's so hard to explain..

I never knew that Howie had OCD. I also have it and was diagnosed with it relatively young. To me, it’s always very discouraging that people usually don’t understand this disorder and even label themselves as such as a joke or for quirkiness. I’m really glad that someone that actually has this disorder is able to talk about it in the limelight. It causes such a tremendous amount of daily stress and it can make you feel so alone as some of the intrusive thoughts you get fixated on can’t be shared without people thinking your crazy or even dangerous with how misunderstood the disorder is.

it's pretty easy for the need for some sort of routine, repeative behaviours & need for sameness for stability in autism to delve into the realm of ocd if the environment feels unstable to be honest. it's also can be quite deep rooted into it so there's really a lot of overlap. i personally am no where near ready to treat my ocd but i'm glad i was also given that diagnosis because it just helps me understand my brain a lot more

Looking back, my parents didn’t necessarily “make fun” of him for it but they weren’t understanding that it could be OCD. So maybe he just stopped doing it because of the comments? He also washes his hands a lot/vigorously which isn’t as serve now, but his hands would be raw in the winter time. @Emily Ann you can grow out of OCD to a degree. I think because the world forces you to sort of exposure therapy yourself. For some people the fact that you'll get these triggers over and over but don't end up having the bad things happen can mean, that just like in exposure therapy, you realize the likelihood of something bad happening isn't very high and stop being so bothered. This is more common in young people as they grow up. I used to have very weird OCD as a child, age 12 was the worst age, but at 28 I have completely grown out of it.

get ready cause this is gonna be a tangent: When I was 13, I was first diagnosed with severe OCD. It took over my life and I legitimately believed that I would continue to suffer this way for the rest of my life. One day my dad sent me a video about Howie and his OCD that truly changed my life. I felt so alone and helpless, and seeing this successful comedian who found ways to make himself comfortable in the world and who is able to live a full and successful life brought me so much peace. OCD is terrifying and exhausting, but Howie sharing his experience made sure that I didn't feel so alone and I will always be thankful for that.

The storie about Howie coming out from Stern's and talking to the guy made me quite emotional. That's the reason why i'm way more comfortable talking about mental health and issues nowadays. I am no longer embarassed by it AND it helps so many more people. It's especially awesome if you start talking to someone and you see them being nervous or uncomfortable and when you touch the subject and talk about your issues that they sudddenly relax more. Priceless.

You have no idea how much I can relate to the "not being able to open a door." I've had ocd since I was 13. I'm over 20 now. I've had so many panic attacks over the years and have had to deal with family and friends calling me crazy... The anxiety gets so bad sometimes it feels like it'll kill me. I have more support now than I used to, but still there's only a few people who take me seriously. I don't know anyone else who has ocd, but this video really helped me feel less alone/crazy. So thank you

As someone who has OCD and really struggled with my peers grow up, its kinda healing to hear that I'm not alone. I used to rush to my classes at least 5 minutes before to organise the desks perfectly and I ended up stopping because once people found out that i was doing that, they would purposely push desks over again and again and it definitely brought me many panic attacks because being the comedic relief while feeling like you're dying really effs you up long term, especially as a kid.

It’s amazing to see this side of Howie. Outside of the banter of H3H3 also. I relate to your experience incredibly, Howie. It took me ages to be diagnosed as autistic. Anxiety and depression was diagnosed before that. But I’ve never gone for a OCD diagnosis. I know OCD and ASD can come hand in hand, but I’ve attributed things to ASD. I don’t know if it’s worth exploring another diagnosis, but it’ll probably be years waiting because I can’t pay for private. There’s so many presentations of OCD and so many stereotypes, so I assume that me having things like when I can feel the contamination after touching something. I won’t touch other things of mine until I’ve washed or sanitised. Sometimes it’s related to the smell of something though, like metal. I don’t want to transfer the smell of metal around, which is a sensory issue. Not always though. Idk. I don’t know if that’s enough to peruse it further. Maybe hearing more experiences would help me find where I relate. I need to listen to more stories from Howie. PS- I love that you’re still trying to fool us that you didn’t know it was a prolapsed anus 😉😘

It is so comforting and inspiring to me to hear the reality of Howie’s struggles, all the while knowing that he has come to cultivate his own vein of success in spite of what he has faced and continues to actively grapple with. I am someone who also struggles with OCD and other anxieties which greatly infringe upon my life, at times… sometimes my existence feels without hope, completely dismal, yet I know there are other times in which I feel good about my place in the world and the directions my life may take. There are many small moments sprinkled throughout my waking hours in which I truly feel I am able to embody and exude the essence of my “nature”, moments where I am intensely creative, wonderfully contemplative, emotions in perfect alignment with my inner self, as well as with the world around me… these moments are precious, poignant, profound. I guess what I am trying to say is that to be human is complicated, complex, often fraught with uncertain emotional intricacies, which can feel quite daunting and draining to face… so I greatly admire Howie’s candor, his openness to recognizing the depths of his own humanness, and the ways in which these depths both shed greater clarity on the peaks present in his life, as well as illuminating his most dark and dismal valleys… We all have our own peaks and valleys, though not everyone is able to see both ends of that spectrum for what they truly are. Thus, I feel a sincere and heartfelt appreciation for anyone who is able, and willing, to explore all facets of themselves.

Glad to hear people are talking about OCD. I've struggled with it since I was very young child and now 20 and just now getting help for it. Still struggle with it because I'm barely starting ERP therapy. It has changed my life though already but it takes a lot of work and dedication. I'd lose hours of sleep because of my religious OCD and other types that I didn't even know were OCD making me think I was a horrible person for the thoughts. I had things I thought I had to bury until one day they'd come up and I deal with them. Then I always thought it meant I was going to go crazy and hurt the people I loved and I assured myself it was okay by telling myself if I ever did start to feel like I was crazy. I could just end my life so that I didn't hurt anyone finding out it was OCD and that it doesn't mean I actually want those things it's really a huge thing and the fact that nobody talked about OCD and just now beginning to is insane to me. I'm so incredibly thankful for the support Anthony has given to people with OCD and the voice you've given to people with many different struggles and experiences they've had to go through through your videos. I can't speak for everyone else and what they're going through but I'm sure they're just as thankful to you. OCD meltdowns or something that I didn't hear. Talk about a lot and I literally have had so many embarrassing ones that made me feel like a freak for crying on the ground and screaming or I'd get so angry and freaked out. I'd break things I felt like a little kid having a tantrum but OCD is just something that can be so debilitating and the fact that kids nowadays might get that is amazing to me and the fact that I'm getting that help in this time is something I'm so thankful for. Please continue to show your support. You're a wonderful person

It’s so crazy to hear others talk about your problem. I have religious OCD as well and developed it at 9-10. It honestly ruined my life for such a long time. Now, years later, it is crazy to think that I am not as “in my head” as I used to be. A mixture of erp therapy and medicine helped me quite a bit. So many people don’t realize how horrible it is- I’ve lost years of my life to this… but even with that, ocd gets better :) I hope your erp journey is helping you and wishing a fellow person with OCD the best (things get better)
