I feel that, too. Once my therapist told me, that the way I deal with stuff, with positivity and optimisim is what they want their clients to get to. And I sat there, aware that that's is just another coping mechanism, masking the issues, shoving it down and away instead of solving it. That was crushing, honestly. I also love how he's developed a method to chat with the person before hand to see what they want out of the discussion. It's just an amazing, thoughtful and such a simple thing to do... But no one does that in interviews anymore... Except, actually the Hot Wings dude (forgotten his name) coz he's bloody amazing at his research, thinks on the spot, but also shows absolutely respect in his interviews. Anthony does that and more by seeing what the person wants to tell the world about themselves, what direction they want to go in... So it can go down that path lol. And, despite your talents, you won't be making one-take wonders every time, this will take multiple shoots and therefore multiple repairs! Do your guests have to wait an extra day each time you stuff up an introduction to properly record, or do you film the intro last and edit them together? Regardless, Anthony, for the sake of your ceiling reinvent yourself a little, please. From a concerned fan.

I can really relate to using joking around as a coping method. I’ll purposefully joke about serious things so they don’t feel serious because I can’t handle that very well. Kris’s mental health video helped me a lot, as someone who also struggles with that kind of thing. I’m so glad you did an interview with KallMeKris, she’s such an amazing KZbinr and person as a whole.

I've watched a lot of these interviews but none of them really hit home as much as this one. Hearing Kris talk about depression and being vulnerable I could really relate. Thank you to you both for putting this interview together ❤️

Holy shit, so much of this reflects my life and it makes me feel less alone. I have Tourette's Syndrome and my symptoms started at 4 but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 17. My older brother was blind and diabetic and when he was diagnosed with type one at 8 years old (I was 4) my parents gave me instructions on how to look for signs of low and high blood sugar and what to do in those emergencies. All the things Kris talked about, being called X persons sister, the masking, making my parents laugh to get out of trouble, even getting kicked out of Sunday school lol.

One time Kallmekris liked one of my comments, and I saw that and was so happy I didn't think that comment would get any recognition. It helped me really see how much Kris loves looking through those comments.

IM SO HAPPY YOU HAVE KRIS ON HERE!! I found her on KZbin a few years ago and I've been a huge fan since. She makes me laugh even when I'm having the worst day. She makes me feel normal that I have mental illness too. She's perfectly imperfect and we love that about her ❤ stay weird, everyone!

GOSH! The not wanting to be a burden thing hits hard! I see that in my 13-y-o daughter, and I have no idea how to "reach" her and get her to understand that she is not..

Love love love. It’s so hard, I’ve felt this too. And the feeling and reaponse can happen formal many different reasons. For me i had issues from being abandoned by my father, and rejected by my sister. So I basically just thought I wasn’t good enough, so I tried coping with the feeling by 1) minimizing myself so I can’t be rejected, but also 2) controlling and helping or fixing-making sure everyone else was ok even if they didn’t ask me to because I thought I had to Perform to be loved, I need to prove I was worthy to even be there.

I'm not about to lecture on parenting but I believe reassuring her that you're on her side no matter what and that you love her with words AND actions could help. Saying that you love her often and not being judgemental or hesitating when she comes for help too. At least that's what would've helped me as a child

Man I wish these videos were longer, but I see why they should be around 20 minutes for the algorithm. Could you start doing maybe extended version interviews? You could even make them exclusive to spotify for money 🤷♂️

I love you both, Anthony and Kris, you guys are amazing people! I share in the struggle with mental health and I’ve learned a lot about how different the many disorders that exist are. I’ve also seen the common ground we all share. Anthony, I’m glad you got to work all that out with your mom. Kris, I’m so glad you’re working through all of it. TBH I’m struggling, I tried having conversation with my parents (I grew up in a strict religious environment like Kris), but they are still holding onto stigma, and disregarding so much of my childhood experience (lots of trauma). NGL I’m jealous that the both of you have made it to that point in your mental health journey, I so wish that opportunity was available to me (for my parents to get it). For now, I guess I’ll just keep watching you both and try to encourage and cheer you on, maybe I can just try to make it by vicariously seeing your growth 🥹🥲😭❤

What a great conversation - it’s so hard to be vulnerable, particularly with people you’ve never met before and in front of a large audience. The way Anthony empathises with his guests and shares his personal experiences to relate to whoever he’s talking to makes all the conversations on this channel so powerful. I loved hearing from Kris in this space too ❤️

09:53 I really felt that, the other day I was talking to my new therapist (I've been visiting her weekly since the last mont or so and she's still trying to know me) The point is, I was there, talking to her about how that same morning I was crying because ✨life happens and sucks✨ and then I followed talking about how I calmed and approached the situation in a constructive way. And in that moment she told me (like really serious) "Get out of here, you don't need a therapist, like really, you don't need a therapist, you already know the stuff" And I was like ;-; (Listen, I know that I know the stuff, but even therapists have their own therapist)

Never really realised how much I resonated with @Kallmekris. I’m a hairdresser, I was always that kid that felt older than my years. The chatty ( maybe too much) goofy kid, but always wore that as a mask. When I was 16. I told my mum I just was done with this world and she was so, so supportive. I got diagnosed with anxiety and depression and sometimes feel I’m a fraud at work in front of clients because I’m always the bubbly, smiley chatty one. Most times I come home exhausted for putting that front on for the day. You don’t know how much this video has made me just say to myself “ it’s okay to not be okay, I’m normal”. Just want to say thank you so much for this video🥰
