I've watched all of season 1 and just now stopped long enough to say how impressed I am with how far you both have come in such a short time (relatively speaking). Well done to both of you. Your viewership and subscriptions reflect how much you are touching people's lives. You are an inspiration for how people should live their lives. Not just sailing but life in general. Have a dream. Thanks for sharing your journey! You guys made a good choice with the Beneteau. Me and my family just moved our Oceanis 321 to Jacksonville Fl. from Arkansas. Looking forward to taking a trip to St. Augustine soon. For the meantime we are staying in the St. John’s river while we continue to get everything sea worthy. Hi, Brandon! Couldn’t agree more - we love the Beneteau! Very cool on your move. If you’ve never been to St. Augustine, it’s a really cool old Spanish town - albeit touristy. I actually have a lot of heritage from there. I’ve heard the currents are strong there on anchor, so be prepared. You’ll love, cool town and pretty beaches. Great story telling thus far. Thank you for that. I would love to hear more about your individual back grounds to be able to string together how you both got to this adventurous part of your life. As some have said, it was great to hear you recognize that happiness doesn't come from chasing dreams and reaching that dream but rather by putting yourself in situations that allow you to truly be grateful for the moments you are experiencing, and to do that with your life partner. I am not a sailor (yet) but seems like that the sailing life style is so paradoxical in that is certainly gives you so many beautiful moments to get lost in and appreciate but that it's also fraught with deep lows as it can sometimes take so much work and frustrations to get to those good moments.

Your videos are awesome. Your comments about no longer chasing a dream, but focusing on things that make you Happy - that is what really should matter. And happiness comes in many forms: being with friends/making new friends, watch dolphins on your bow wake, accomplish a task, enjoying your wife's company while you watch the sunset over the water. I too have this dream about living on a boat, mostly because I am happy when I am around the water. The beauty and serenity that being on the water provides, is unmatched. You comment about "Living Your Best Lives", is what we should all strive for. On another sailing channel, I heard the phrase "Living a Life Worth Living" - when it is all said and done each of us want to be able to say, Yes, I lived a life worth living! Fair winds as you push off on your adventure!

Honestly, in the beginning it was so "go-go-go-go" that it was hard to take a breather and appreciate all that we had done. Now that we are actually DOING it, and are able to somewhat have more "free" time (sailing is always busy), we're finally appreciating the huge accomplishments and obstacles we've overcome. Really enjoyed that episode, heart truths are the best. No b.s. no misunderstandings, no doubts. If this old man can share one thing with you, let it be this. ALWAYS take your conflicts away from each other and put them out in front of you. That way, the conflict never comes between you and then you look at that conflict and say, how do WE fix that. This is crucial when there are only two of you and no one to referee or vent to. You are about to find out how great of a team you really are. Only and all the best to you both. Life is simple, but not easy.

Thanks for that, Rob! We actually talked about this one after we read it. It's very true that conflicts that happen between us on this boat seem different than when you're living on land - just all around different situations. Being able to look at the issues for what they are, and being able to talk about them without upsetting the other is crucial. It may never be perfect, but we try our best at keeping the peace and staying a good team. We are finding that we really are each others best team ~Mandi

Enjoyed watching the beginning of your adventure. I am sure all of your hard work will be realized as you move forward. You're absolutely right that when you say you'll learn something new everyday. We've been sailing for a while now, and I still feel like I'm always finding myself realizing I can do something better, faster, different, etc. Long-term cruising sailing is not easy, and we've heard from others that the first year is the toughest. So many life changes happening, and it's not all postcard vacation life - it is a LOT of work. But we are keepin' on keepin' on, and enjoying all the good times this sailing life does bring us too. Glad to hear you are enjoying seeing the beginning of the adventure. We're working on season 2 right now, so the real beginnings of this journey should be out soon :) ~Mandi

Really enjoyable new channel. Remind me of the first time I sailed out of the marina on my Catalina 27 for an extended sail (4 months). I like that you recognize the need to take the story in a unique way. I think you might want to be less scripted but you're doing a great job so far. Fair winds!

I found your channel approx 6 month ago. 23.5k subs is an incredible number right now in you journey. People like what you’re doing. Keep up the great work. I would bet if you did reviews/interviews of interesting boats/people along the way the masses will respond and numbers will go up. You can use it when you don’t have other content of your trip. Keep going, guys! You are starting a great story but off to a great start! As you are learning sometimes what seems "glamorous" to some in reality is "not so much". But, if you are doing what you want it is great! Just remember, the easy times are fun and that's what it's all about but the hard times are the only times you really learn and grow. So, just put those times in your journal, reflect and you will travel the world! Looking forward to future videos!

You are absolutely right! And this first year has been FULL of a lot of hard times. We've heard from other cruisers as well that the first year is always the toughest; once you make it over that "hump", it all gets easier. Definitely not an all inclusive glamorous life, and anyone who says it is I suspect isn't 'really' sailing lol - but I do believe the life will provide you with some pretty exceptional experiences. So cool to hear you've watched them all and have been enjoying them so much! It's definitely difficult to have these videos be current, since we put a lot of time and effort in to making these the best story telling quality we can. Plus, the boat working days were really a year for us condensed in to a few episodes. This last video of us casting off the docks was March 2020, so in the midst of the covid19 beginnings for the US. We did make it a few places, and had to leave some because of covid, and have found ourselves up north. Season 2 is going to be all about what happened and how the heck it got us to where we are now. Congratulations. The happiness is in the way itself. Its not a goal, its not a destination, but the miryad of things that happens during your transit of this life. Cruising life its a high contrast lifestyle. Its not all about golden beaches, boobies and marinas, but its about how do you find yourself. How do you keep alive the flame of a relationship when there is not way to scape from the proximity 24/7 with your partner. Its about learning the waves, the sky, the clouds, the destiny. It happens that you are starting this adventure on the most difficult years (2020/2021) in which you may feel that the world is crumbling behind you. Ports will be closed, travel permits suspended. You may see lots of signs that your dream may be in peril, but don't give up. Things will get better after 2021 and you will be able to enjoy the freedom of the seamen again. Thanks for these words, Julio! You're right about many of those points. Being in close proximity of your partner can be tough, but we do our best to be open with each other, communicate, and keep laughing. It does seem that these years will be tough with traveling as well; our plans have had to change, as well as many others. We are hoping to be able to persevere and continue sailing to the places we dreamed of sailing while we still can. ~Mandi

You guys are a reflection of myself in ways. I am working hard to get away from my job and one day I think I will live on a boat somewhere. Whether in the US at a Marina or traveling the world I don't know until I get there and a lot of the choices will have to do with my kids. I guess my point is to keep it up! Looking forward to it. I'm not going quite as headlong into sailing as going around the world, but am probably buying my boat this week or next. I own a slip here though locally now and will be able to park it and sail as desired to start with. After watching you guys at the dock, I'm starting sailing classes on Friday also and am taking a dayskipper class on NavEd. Learning lots. Good luck to you all. I'm just hoping to sail to Scotland next year or the one after.

Love, love, love this!! Very cool to hear you that you're taking a sailing and day skipper class! I would say don't take for granted the ease of taking your boat out locally on the weekends, or when you're not at work, to learn and have FUN with sailing - that's one thing we wish we had more time to do before we set off. @@TakeTheWaters My plan is to sail to the ocean via the St. Lawrence seaway and then go south of Newfoundland past Nova Scotia to avoid possible ice floes still about in June near Newfoundland. Once I get down to Rhode Island area, I'd switch and sail SSE to the Acores Islands so just below the typical great circle route. After a break and a resupply there, I'll head NNE and sail up to the southern tip of Ireland and work my way up the coast until I get closer and jump across to Isle of Barra, home of my clan. I'll spend a couple weeks to a month at most there, then head back by the great circle route, since all ice should be gone by then. Back up the seaway and park my boat before the beginning of the school year.
