Sometimes, I was thinking what Dean Martin was really born to be- A singer, An actor, A presenter, An entertainer!?! As I’m aged, it comes to my senses.. He’s definitely one of the best in the entertainment business. At the end of his career, before he left. He’s proved to the world.. He was born to be a great man. He’ll always be loved, remembered.

The comedy skit between Dean & Mr. Harris was as hilarious as the Dean and Nannette Fabreger skit, and got the same amount of laughs and we loved it. ❤️❤️

I love those singers that you named off with their Perfection and all. BUT.... I PREFER DEAN'S EASY GOING, AND RELAXED WAY, OF BELTING OUT HIS BEAUTIES THAT HE SINGS. I saw a Tonight Show with Joey Bishop hosting. Dean was stoned and drunk! Frank Sanatra kept covering for him. It was funny, but I don’t like being around drunks, my ex husband was (is) an alcoholic. 🍺🍸

Dean was actually *rarely* (if ever) drunk in public. It was all an part of his persona. Apparently one he led on pretty well since everyone thought he was drunk all the time. He actually died from smoking!

No, he was not "stoned and drunk", and Frank definitely was not covering for him. Frank was never as funny as Dean, and never had the stage presence unless he was singing. Dean was not a drinker. His "drinking" was an act, and he carried glasses of apple juice to look like a drink. How on earth do you think he would have become the highest paid entertainer in the world if he was an alcoholic? He spent 10 very successful years with Jerry Lewis, looking decidedly non-alcoholic. He had a very successful recording career, with many gold records. He had a successful nightclub act, as a member of the Rat Pack. He did not want a TV show, so when they offered him one, he suggested an outrageously high salary, something around $32Million, and they took it (NBC), so he dd the show with conditions. No rehearsals, and he only showed up once a week. The show lasted nearly TEN YEARS. He golfed every day, was a "particularly good" golfer, and did that early *every* morning. Hated parties, went to bed early. He had a successful movie career, acting - and was a very good horseman, raised and trained Andalusian horses. That is not the career of an alcoholic. Just look at his healthy skin and svelte body - great physique!!

I know you can't really instill current values with what was considered entertainment when this first aired, but Don Rickles seemed especially virulent in his nightclub sketch.
