Hey Cam, don't know if you'll see this but I started running and working out again about 4 weeks ago after a long time battling self doubt and pity with my body and fitness. Being 18 that's not a good way to be and I also stopped hunting which has been a thing I love to do since I was about 6. However by putting the things you do on social media such as this has given me access to new inspiration and like I said has pushed me to push myself. I've started practicing with my bow again and have never felt healthier and I look toward to improving myself further in time to come. I am looking to plan a hunt later this year which will be the first hunt in a while. today I ran father and longer than I ever have. Just wanted to say thanks to you for helping me out even if you didn't know you were doing so. Hope all is well with you. From Jed in New Zealand.

Thanks Cam and Joe. I have been away from bow hunting for 25 years. Just realizing that the bow was one thing that made me a better person. The hunt, the focus, being the best me. I have a 6 year old son that I finally realized after watching one of your videos that the bow is what he needs to thrive. I became a man when that first arrow did what I wanted it to. Dropped a mule deer at 25 yards and realized that was the moment that I knew who I was. Thank you for doing what you do. The clouds are parting and I haven't been this excited in years. Shooting a 30 year old Hoyt Easton Rambo. Need the new Hoyt defiant. Feel like I'm ready for it, saving pocket change, selling old gear out of the garage to step up my game. Again, thank you for the inspiration and keep the wind in your face!

Congrats on podcast. My personal take on the difference between skill, talent, and ability. * Talent is the mix of genetics, and a God given gift. Thanks for the inspiration Cam. Keep hammerin'

Powerful Cameron Hanes!!! Proud of you, buddy. I know we're strangers to each other but I'm stoked to see that Joe convinced you to do this and supported you through it. You guys are so fortunate to have such a circle of friends and the infrastructure available to you so that you can KEEP HAMMERIN 'em with content. Steven Rinella has inspired me to start hunting via Joe, and now you're doing the same with archery. I haven't had the financial opportunity to go hunting yet but I am definitely going to document it for KZbin when I'm finally able to. I have been living with my father to take care of him since we lost my mother last year so I haven't had the ability to do much other listen to podcasts, but after the summer he is going to move in with one of my sisters so I can focus on getting myself back on track at the age of 30. And thanks to Joe's relentless output, and the number of people he has inspired to start a podcast, and a small number of others, I now have the confidence and courage to honestly document the process and hopefully use it as a jumping-off point for a KZbin channel. Thank you guys sincerely. Keep Hammerin' eh? Peace.

Regarding "sabotaging yourself" when trying accomplish a difficult task, I feel there are a couple ways this works out/occurs. 1) You begin to identify with that achievement to the detriment of all other things that are truly important as to who you are. And if you feel that accomplishment may be threatened, you can seriously stress. 2) Your relationships suffer b/c you truly become overly self-focused, even selfish with your time. You begin to feel that if someone is even mildly less than supportive, you begin to resent and a tout toward that person. The key is stay balanced, be humble and put others before yourself as much as possible while trying to accomplish your goal. Really like what Cam said about not letting down the important people in his life - good intentions, balanced and hasn't lost measure of humility.

I am in my early 30s, a father of four and have taken up bow hunting as of 3 years ago. I had never hunted anything in my life nor does anyone in my family so I literally am learning from scratch from guys like Cam Haines, Joe Rogan and Steve Rinella and Company. As well as a couple people in the local hunting community. It really is an amazing thing to be a part of. The camaraderie is infectious. But I just wanted to say that I got into hunting specifically for the bow hunt and this podcast really hit home for me because everything Cam expressed about the difficulty, I am experiencing firsthand. Whitetail hunting is very difficult where I live in general let alone for a newbie getting into hunting starting with a compound bow, and basically exclusively hunting alone. Cam Haines is a very special person and is a real human being who makes mistakes like the rest of us. I know I sound like a broken record but the inspiration these two gentlemen have given me in many things but more so regarding my newly acquired passion for bow hunting is unexplainable. Hunting season just ended where I live and I already can’t wait for next season. This was the first year I have put multiple deer in the freezer, but none yet with my bow, so many close calls and one high hit on a big buck. It’s so incredibly difficult but that’s why I love it. I never stop learning when I’m in the woods. I can feel it in my bones this coming season is going to be the one where an archery deer changes my life more so than what hunting in general has already done for me. Thank you for all you do gentlemen!

Right then about 20 foot off the track in the woods where 3 young deer barely moving mostly staring as if they had heard your name been mentioned 😂 I felt in tune with my surroundings they definitely where and we spent a good 5 minutes staring at each other till I left them to it. my theory is that because I was in clear headed running mode they couldn’t hear the internal mind chatter. Tell my friends animals can hear your thoughts and they ask if I’ve been taking my meds!!!

@1:01:15 Since nobody seems to talk about it (and I think it is worth discussing) here's my point of view: Talent is the innate set of abilities that you are born with (biometric stats and what not: ie short legs make it easier to deadlift) Skill is the acquired ability to do something . It is learned and perfected though the grind. It is the result of your effort from the level that your talent gave you to your current level. Aptitude is the sum of both. The small advantage that talent gave you in the first place, and the great amount of work that made you what you are. Talent is often misused or slopelly thrown around imo. And when it comes to measuring aptitude, it is usually insignificant unless you measure people that are complete novices in a field or the very best of the elite of that field that have already acquired all the skill that one can acquire (which is obviously very rare) If any of you peeps feel like correcting me, shoot. I'm all ears.

I'll be looking forward to more episodes of Keep Hammering with Cameron Hanes! You should have Randy Newberg on as a guest some time.

Rogan thank you for getting Cam going. Bow Hunters want to hear from the Jordan of Bow Hunting. BTW...saw your episode on the Meat Eater. Looks like Alaska kicked your butts! No worries brother, it would kick all our asses. Glad you're doing your part to get archery growing. Cam, as always you're a beast. I wish I could get to your level.

Joe is absolutely correct in telling you that this will be successful if you stay consistent (which I have no doubt that you will). I was excited to see you on JRE today and wanted to know more about your experience at the 24hr race. But, I have to say that after Joe moved on from that I just couldn't finish the podcast. There seems to be a set pattern that Joe has been following lately regarding "those people" (anti-hunting), the lecture is repeated every single podcast. I fail to see how addressing the very small minority of haters benefits the majority of logical minded people in any way. I really hope you don't go down that path, I'm guessing you won't. Please ignore the haters and tell the rest of us who live vicariously through you guys about interesting trips, ideas, daily routines, planning for trips, equipment, how-to guides...... All the best!

What the hell is going on? Such a very cool debut. Best ever. Mind fuck. And he turned me on to Cameron Hanes. Love Cameron and his quest to be happy. What a wonderful surprise.
