How super to see John Mearsheimer at Cambridge. And I speak as a Old Member of Magdalene.
@dorianphilotheates37693 күн бұрын
Professor Mearsheimer is the most brilliant speaker in the room - chiefly because he communicates his views with precision and clarity without resorting to various ineffectual rhetorical contrivances to demonstrate a point: his arguments are evidence supported, rigorously factual, and stand on their own merit. Just subscribed - greetings from Greece!

I continuously follow Prof.Mersheimer for his debates . The clarity of his thoughts , richness of knowledge, and, together with his logic conclusions, made him the master of this debate and for every debate .

Putin explained it nicely at the 2024 Valdai Forum in Sochi at 3:25:15 of the video: We (meaning Russia) have always recognized the borders of Ukraine as part of our agreements after the collapse of the USSR. However, I draw attention to the fact that the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine states that Ukraine is a neutral state. Russia supported this on this basis. On this basis, we also recognized its borders at that time. But later, as is known, the leadership of Ukraine changed the constitution and expressed its desire to join NATO. But we did not agree like the first time. Secondly, we have never and nowhere supported any coup d'état, including in Ukraine (meaning the Maidan color coup). We understand and support the people (meaning the Russian minority in Donbas, Lugansk, Crimea) who did not agree with the coup, and we recognize their right to defend their interests……..

15:00. In Britain they call this guy a "Conservative." You can see why things have seriously declined in the UK over the last several decades.

It's unfortunate that you allow your subjective perspective conceal greater truths that could benefit humanity. At the same time, thumbs up for stepping to the fence of reasonable discourse.

What is this strange distribution of the participants? What is the throwned one, the speakers with the back to the auditorium and so on? I always found the British ridiculous in manifestation of medieval times, but to see this in a new generation, in a university environment it's so hard to believe this society insist to be ridiculous.

Where did you get the first speaker from? Alice in wonderland? Did she ever grab a history book? She invented a world in her mind that doesn't exist, never existed and will never exist.

Let's ask ourselves why the Puritans were hated and persecuted in the 15th century and we will get the answer to the question posed. Let's ask ourselves why Hitler hated and persecuted the Jews and we will get the answer to the question posed. Mostly because of racial superiority, hypocrisy, treachery, lying, selfishness, ...

I appreciate many of your views, particularly on Israel and Ukraine, Professor; but your position on this issue is just wrong headed. You agree that America is supporting genocide in Gaza but then say that, as an American, you still want the country to be powerful because otherwise it will be preyed upon by others. That's a simple way of saying "might makes right"
@daeyounglim13103 күн бұрын
How fast you’ve forgotten the intro “I’m speaking as an American making the case for the U.S. and Europe.” Of course if you’re on the other side of the table getting bombed, you don’t want the U.S. to be powerful.
@djangofett48793 күн бұрын
I think he would answer you by saying that USA support of the genocide is irrational and not in USA's best interest. it doesn't help keep America competitive on the world stage. there is no advantage to it. I think he would suggest all that money and effort be spent elsewhere against China.
@bla-bla-bla...15 сағат бұрын
The american rival position toward China was began by Trump and it's ridiculous. China has the principals of global collaboration. Germanic minds (english inclusively, so american - the england's baby automatically) always search competition and enemies, provoking and tensioning. Taiwan is only a pretext (like ukraine or palestine are)... if not this one, they would find or create one, not matter what would be. Taiwan not matter for them in reality (the same was Vietnam or Korea or Japon and son on). In their perception there are the human ants. What really matters, their vanity, and they need always to fuel this with human blood, like their ancestors - the vikings, saxons, franks, norses and so on.
