Dinamation was a once successful company that would create and sell its own dinosaur animatronics to museums. But this once-thriving company would eventually meet its decline shortly after a certain popular title was released into theaters.

Universal trademarked indoraptor as well. I remember that internet guys figured out indoraptor would be the new dinosaur in Fallen Kingdom because they filed for trademark for the word “indoraptor” so if anyone used it or tried to make a knock off toy, they could sue. They are one of the worst when it comes to copyright strikes KZbin as well. They kinda set the precedent to use stills or no more than thirty seconds of audio/video at time that’s not part of a publicly released trailer because their computer algorithms and bots will file a strike on channels that “misuse” these standards

@D I think the Amargasaurus you saw was a post-Dinamation animatronic & an edited version of the Apatosaurus. I've also seen post-Dinamation animatronics such as Styracosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Suchomimus, Giganotosaurus, etc. that are just edited version of existing Dinamation animatronics (i.e. Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, Baryonyx, T. Rex, etc.) These are the animatronics that usually get used in nowadays for traveling museum exhibits.

The Jurassic Park franchise is often credited as being responsible for reviving enthusiasm about dinosaurs and paleontology, but this case shows one way the franchise and Universal have actually negatively impacted the field. I think Dinamation funding paleontology research was quite amazing, I don't see Universal doing that directly. Corporate greed ruins everything.

I remember there being a dinosaur boom in the late 80s and early 90s. I remember an animatronics show like this (it probably was supplied by Dinamation) some time around 91 and another show about a recent find happening I think before that. Yeah, Jurassic Park was cool, but Universal being shitbags and ignoring actual research and discoveries before then that likely led to Crichton's book is a huge dick movie.

@disregardthat
@disregardthat 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrTroodon_Official I agree with this. The 93 brachiosaurus in particular hasn't aged well, but the gallimimus stampede isn't top tier anymore either tbh. The T-rex night scene and to a lesser extent the raptor kitchen scene have fared pretty decently, but there's still shots here and there that look a little janky. The visitor centre battle looks okay when the humans aren't onscreen, but when they are, the disconnect with the CG dinos is a bit jarring. Hell, even in TLW, the stegs sometimes look as bad as the 93 brachiosaurus.

@Freshie207

Not quite, Utahraptor is very heavy built so it's only marginally longer than the JP Raptors (Their about 4m in length, whereas Utahraptor is up to 6m long) and their both a little taller than a 6 foot human. Deinonychus would've been more the size of a large wolf, not able to look you in the eye but a little heavier and more muscley than a human (Certainly would've been an itimidating creature in life).

One of these traveling exhibitions came to my college’s on campus museum, and my kindergarten class had gone to see it for a field trip years ago. All I remember about it is that it was really loud and really dark, and that I cried for a good portion of the time I was there. I recognize some of these animatronics from the various traveling exhibits at the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News and Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach. The animatronics were also featured in a few educational TV shows/Specials such as Paleoworld, Boneheads: Detectives of the Paleoworld, Really Wild Animals: Dinos & other Creature Features, Bill Nye the Science Guy: Dinosaurs, etc. The animatronics were also featured in the PC Game: 3D Dinosaur Adventure. But probably the best use of these animatronics (at least in my opinion) were their incorporation into the T-rex Café restaurant (owned by the same company as the Rainforest Café). I'm just disappointed that I only got to see the dinosaur animatronics, I would've loved to see the other animatronics made by the company (i.e. Prehistoric Mammals, Giant Insects, Sea Creatures, Whales, After Man Creatures, etc.)

10:27 *ONE GUY MADE THAT!!* One guy made the Dilophosaurus! There was a video about a year ago by the group of people who worked alongside Stan Winston (if you know Jurassic Park, you probably know who that is) and they did a reunion video on their channel and brought up the Dilophosaurus. Turns out, it was made by one man, a rookie, I think his name was Shane Mahan. The Dilo is still the most convincing puppet from JP, imo, and it just blows my mind that one rookie managed to make a dinosaur more realistic than a whole team. And you might be thinking, well, they're different sizes. It's easy to make a small one. And you would be _wrong_. As the team recounted, putting all the hydraulics and electronics and squeezing it into one small puppet was the biggest challenge ever! This was the first time they had worked with hydraulic puppeteering this small. Don't take this from me, look up Stan Winston School on KZbin, find the reuninion video on all the JP movies, and hear for yourself how this amazing team pulled off wonders.

Nowadays, when you look at the companies that make the current animatronic dinosaurs, it’s hard to find a company that makes scientifically accurate dinos. For example, the animatronic Dilophosaurus often has a frill but do museums really want a frilled dilophosaurus?

Not sure if it was this but there was an animatronic dinosaur exhibit at a museum the next town over when I was in first grade. I went there at least twice, once as a field trip and again with family and friends. I loved it, as I was already super into dinosaurs by that time.

To me this honestly sounds like something really petty. Like, instead of being happy for others in the industry, they went out of their way to have a guy name a new raptor after their now dead, shitty company instead of the Game-Changing, Highest Grossing Movie. It's like if someone went ahaead and said: "OH! You can't name this new food you invented after a big restaurant that's inspired you, name it after me and my poor little kitchen! I'm a shitty ass cook but I deserve it better than the ones that did nothing wrong and just did their thing without targeting us." And then as soon as they named their food after the shitty restaurant, it went out of buisness.

I never, NEVER thought in 65 million years that Jurassic Park's Dinomania would hurt Dinamation's business revenue. I assumed this era of dino-craze would give Dinamation a shot in the arm. I also assumed they went out of business because the dinomania ended in the late 90s/ early 2000s around the time they went under. The irony is that despite their flaws, Dinamation's animatronic quality is far superior to the current animatronic dinosaurs from Jurassic Quest. Dinamation's father company Kokoro is still alive and kicking. I can only imagine if Dinamation survived along with them.
