there is a structure file in the recent snapshot called ancient city portal so its about 80% confirmed all we need is confirmation on its use

It actually has nothing to do with the end, the bottom of the catalyst isnt endstone its a bone like substance (confirmed on Twitter by kingbdogz) it's all about souls and bones, probably the soul sand valley and the wither

I think something really cool about this structure that I haven't seen anyone mention is that the people or thing that built this had access to soul sand, hence the soul sand lanterns. So there's another link to the nether lore in that

The endstone like material in the sculk blocks is confirmt to be bones. It doesn‘t have anything to do with the end.

Maybe Mojang got their inspiration for the deep dark from The Chronicles Of Narnia,because in the book 'The Silver Chair' The main chracters fall down a hole and end up deeeeep underground and are greeted by someone called 'The Warden Of [something...I forgot],and when he leads them through the caves to an underground city (*cough cough*) the enter a cave filled with a greenish-blue moss that is glowing faintly...Sounds familiar...?Of course this could just be a coincedence,but the similarities are uncanny...

Everybody keeps getting this wrong, especially with the new snapshot. The "portal" isn't a portal but a generation table where wardens were created by the ancient builders. Consider the bones littered around, the soul sand burning underneath it and the skulk attached to the frames. The warden is a golem made of bone and skulk reanimated by released souls which are used as a fuel source.

this is litterly just from my head but what if like the warden is like the corrupted gems in su sorta 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️ cus like you said its maby is left over from a broken ended city, and the rest might be extinct? and also i just searched what warden means and it says it means like a keeper of smth or like a protector, so also maby the warden is protecting whatevers left of its broken ended city? or maby smth happnd like some war or smth between whatever warden was and some other mob or smth and that ended its city or smth and its protecting it from any more tressoassers or whtever

The sulk might be a parasite and has infected the city and infected the warden and it might be why ancient builders fled to the end. the wither story has plot holes

The people were much aware of what they were doing and didn't just do it aimlessly and I do believe if something like that happend entire world might be sculk but we see sculk only in deep dark caves so it's really a stretch to believe they went to an entire dimension for which they just have to move few blocks away

I know I should finish your amazing video before asking this question but is the block your talking about maybe a curse over the world you seem to mention something ending the world when talking about why civilization ending and what happened I find it suspicious that this has the same block furthering your theory I would like to hear other peoples thoughts

attention to details like individual blocks is also a classic "lore builder" for Mojang. They like to sprinkle the lore around rather than give it all to the players

No it's bone blocks the villige in the under ground the golem was the warden the villige died and left the city the souls in the city will make sculk witch will spread
