Great video man! There are some rumors/urban legends that were kinda famous in the brazilian club penguin community, and you guys from the US probably never heard about it: Before 2010, at the mine shack, you could see a purple tree at the background. People said that a giant penguin lived there, and if you threw 100 snowballs at the tree, the giant would wake up and go after you, destroying the whole island. I remember trying to do this and then closing the game cause i was terrified. There was also another rumor, before brown puffles were introduced, that these puffles were trapped on the top of the clock furniture item due to a conflict between brown and purple puffles. The purple ones won the war and trapped all the brown puffles inside the clocks.

tbf, there were signs it was losing steam before the shutdown, like downsizing and sometimes complete closure of offices, regional servers being closed due to lack of players, etc. there was definitely a falloff but i think it could've made a comeback if disney hadn't just gone "welp! it's not making the same money it used to because we turned it into a big marketing scheme instead of a game, better pull the plug"

i’ve thought a lot about an official comeback and how it’d work like what demographic they’d make it for they can’t really aim at a new audience as they tried and failed but with the game’s rules and wholesomeness they also couldn’t aim at the audience that grew up playing because that audience is now mostly young adults (18-25ish maybe) and they couldn’t mess with the game’s reputation to make it more appealing to young adults even if they used a nostalgia angle the game would get boring after awhile i just really don’t see how they could make a comeback work but considering the amount of active users on private servers there’s clearly a demand for it from the demographic that grew up playing it

I think they could: 1. Still use moderation for curse words, but not that heavy moderation that won't let you send a message when you say things like fart, pants, body, or name of your country. Just ban really nasty words or automatically change curse words to something else, like you say "fuck" and it changes to "funk". 2. Just keep the game as it was, continue with AS2 style, start with doing the beta party again and just replay the whole chronology. It's more than 10 years of content, and after that, make new content, like new Puffle Party, new Fair, just another year of the same stuff but with new items. There are a lot of young adults (including me) who are playing CPPS like Club Penguin Journey nowadays. It has the filters on but people really just go there to talk, play games, mine coins, decorate igloos, collect pins and stamps and just enjoy it like we always did. We didn't need the changes that Disney made. They actually made me stop playing eventually. 3. Release new merch. Adult hoodies, classic penguin style prints with funny text bubbles, looking like screenshots from the game. Limited clothing items inspired by clothing items from game. Maybe collaborate with some clothing brand to release a whole collection of classic CP items. You could dress up same as your penguin, it would be so cool. Also Penguin squishmallows, slimes with penguin charms, phone cases, something like this. 4. Maybe create a youtube channel with the developers vlogging and informing about upcoming events, so you'd get notified about things even when you're not playing. You browse internet while on bus or something, and you see a reel from developers that they remind you about Christmas Party starting next day, and that Rockhopper visits and giving hints about secret items that may be hidden. Looking at how many people STILL play CPPS, they could have great success. 3.

9:55 The game was absolutely plagued with spam bots toward the very end, and I forgot about it until now. Sometimes they would do mildly annoying shit like a couple penguins dancing and advertising some private server or "army" in unison. It was easy enough to just block them. Sometimes it was more infuriating like the bigger crowds you showed. Sometimes it would be downright vulgar: I would see them stand in formation to draw out banned words and swastikas.

I feel like Club Penguin’s demise was, unfortunately, inevitable. Due to the decline in popularity of MMOs in the 2010s, it was only of matter of time until Club Penguin kicked the bucket, because MMOs need a large player base in order to sustain themselves, though Disney definitely helped speed it up with their business decisions causing players to leave. Also, I feel like Disney is sitting on a gold mine of profits when it comes to Club Penguin. There’s no way they’re not aware of how popular Club Penguin Private Servers were during the COVID Lockdown, and imo they are really arrogant by not tapping into the potential sizable source of income from reviving Club Penguin.
