I can absolutely confirm the giant squid was really scary for little kids. I got into club penguin when I was around 5 years old, and aqua grabber was instantly one of my favorite minigames. Eventually I got the squid and instantly closed the window, I was horrified. No joke, I exclusively played soda seas for years because of this. I do vaguely remember some kind of rumbling sound for when the squid appeared, but not a roar. But its not like the screen shake + giant shadow needed anything more to terrify a kindergartener.

Oh man the Webkinz killer rumor at the beginning really brought me back to 2008. That legitimately terrified me back then. This video really makes me appreciate and be glad I was born in 2002 as opposed to any later date so I could really have experienced the magic of late 2000’s internet that anyone younger would have unfortunately missed out on. The batshit crazy myths and theories really added to the mystique of internet culture back then and now I think that feeling is long gone nowadays. You have no idea how happy seeing the Built to Spill wallpaper and the Siamese Dream shirt made me.

One time when I was 7 I got a week long ban week for saying fuck you in chat. Lied to my dad and said I was banned for no reason. There must have been a customer support number for the memberships or something because I remember him sitting me down and calling this number on speaker phone. The look on his face when the person on the phone said I was temporarily banned for typing the "f obscenity" in the text chat. Lol I just wanted this penguin to leave my igloo. Club penguin might be the first thing I have legitimate nostalgia for.

i have so many memories about the squid. i would replay aqua grabber over and over again until i would see it, and it would scare me each time. it was just so mysterious- it seemed so threatening but there was no explanation for it. it was just there, it appeared rarely, scared the shit out of you and then left. it’s funny how something that seems so small can have such an impact on you when you’re a kid.

the card jitsu video that was made by the other creator was amazing too i love deep diving into these theories and learning more about club penguin this was my favorite game and i still play it now. i think the complexity of the game is underrated by many especially if they didnt play it as the parties came out and were released. there is soooo much lore. i forgot about the golden wheel for rockhopper when you win the pin and my old cp account had so many amazing pins and memories i wish i could go back and see as well as backgrounds with meeting mascots. i aas fortunate enough to meet sensei, rockhopper, cadence, rookie. those i remember and if any others its been so long😅 this game has a special place for me and always will.

Nothing wrong with preferring old stuff that you grew up with but times change and things evolve, people rioting for things to go back to how they were instead of just disliking the change but accepting it is annoying too. Like, 13:41, the video talks about how the game in 2005 was great but in 2009 was bad?!? If anything it was better, 2005 was too simple. I know in the last video I complained that I didn’t like the 2014 puffles, but 2014 wasn’t all bad for club Penguin Also, 15:27, although I joined in October 2012, the new art style is more my thing, but I still hate the new designs of the Ski Lodge, along with the fact the Mall replaced the Stage, the Skate Park existing for no reason, and something about the Ninja Hideout was so charming to me even though I love Card Jitsu Snow Club Penguin in 2013 for me>>>>>

I think the old is gold culture has always been silly, at the end of the day the vast majority of people doing the Club Penguin riots were just kids. I do think there was a charm to the early art direction that was overcorrected, but otherwise I think that the fanaticism at the time was kind of silly.

Man the bait item kind of reminds me of a similar-ish story, I remember those glitches how you were able to buy unobtainable items like different penguin colours in the gifts shop, but of course having those would get you banned. However, I remember in I *think* 2012 Holiday party? dont remember but the one where Artic white became a new colour, everyone would have to wait like a week for it to be available, but I remember I did one of those glitches to get it early, and since it was planned to be available in a few days, it actually did not ban me for having it, so for about 5 or so days I had tons of people crowding around me as I walked around as a white penguin, asking me how I managed to get it so early Good memories

with 3 frames it could be morse. if you look at it and the same color stays for 2+ frames it's long, if all the colors on that tile stay only for one frame it's short. gonna be honest, I see what you mean but it's kind of just assigning random meanings to the whole thing arbitrarily. If you considered the 3 frame tiles to be dots and the 2 frames to be dashes, sure, you could come up with something like that, but at that point we're already pretty far off from anything that resembles morse code and how it is usually delivered. there's no real way to delineate the end of words and letters that way either

oh god YEAH in the latter days of this game, like 2014 onwards, i would CONSTANTLY see those fake-rare people who had clearly hacked their rare items. (and tbh as someone who'd been genuinely playing since 2006, of course this annoyed me greatly) i also figured out a way to confirm them as the hackers they were. see, many of these hackers also had all the pins in the game... including ones that weren't supposed to coexist, most notably the operation blackout pin. that was a pin with like five different levels depending on how far you'd gotten into the thing, and in normal, intended gameplay, this pin would get replaced by the next level pin. it was pretty cool! and well, these hackers would always have every level of this pin. and you could tell, because all the pins of a player would be displayed in their stamp book. a normal player who was around for this event would have One of these pins, representing how far they got (usually the final level) - meanwhile, the hackers would have all of them. just a whole row of near-identical pins. it was such an obvious tell once you knew about it.
