The key difference between the Casio Duro and a Rolex Submariner is that you will actually dive with the Duro and use it as the sport-adventure watch that it is meant to be. The Duro will also keep more accurate time than any mechanical watch and require no/far less servicing. 200m water resistance with a screw down crown and excellent bezel action. You can’t beat it for the price and it looks great.

Teddy, thank you for keeping a toe in the affordable watch pool for those of us who are unable to purchase the higher end luxury watches you normally review. You are one of the best reviewers online, and I always respect the amount of research and detail you put into your reviews. The Duro to me is the perfect introductory watch for anybody considering a dive watch. There are homages with better specs out there but with the Duro you get the piece of mind and confidence purchasing from a reliable brand with history to back it up.

Got one about 5 years ago, immediately swapped out the OEM band for a NATO strap and it's been my go-to. Perfect fit for my 6.75" wrists. It's dived the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian without a hiccup. Even a bit beaten up now, it still receives a fair share of compliments. The Duro is a great watch and an amazing value. I know casio won’t change a thing because why would they; they’ve sold 600,000 units. But if they dropped this to 40mm case with 20mm lugs. Be still my heart, it’d be perfect. I have two of them, and the lug to lug is great and it technically does fit, but I still find myself thinking they’re a bit too big still. My first watch that got me into the hobby . It amazes me how much quality goes into every Casio watch, from the f91, to the Duro, to various G-shocks and Edifice chronographs. I'm wearing mine right now on a 22mm NATO and it's an elegant daily. I plan to upgrade it to a double dome sapphire, but it is a watch that works so well as a daily and for the price- is unbeatable. (My second watch was a solar GWM5610 Gshock, and third was an Orient Kamasu.) Casio and Orient definitely make such amazing watches for the price bracket.

Finally, Teddy! :) For some reason, Duro is on my wrist for years, despite having some Seikos and Orients. Somehow, I always go back to this one. Cracked the glass this summer and replaced it with sapphire crystal - now I love it even more, as it had some scratches before. My piece saw some diving, spending time on the beach, site works, and is still going strong! Also, I've been checking accuracy using smartphone app, and it's remarkable, unlike any other watch I have - this one runs on avarage ... +0.0s/d. Yeap, after over a year, it's off about 3 seconds. Unbeliveble! I've tried many straps and always go back to original. One thing that is totally not e.g. Seiko or Orient level, is as you've mentioned, lume. It's rather mediocre. Personally, I would love it to be around 41-42 mm case size, too. Other than all that, this watch kinda ruined watch collecting for me - 80% of the time I'm rocking the Duro. Just love this watch. P.S. Give a try to EFV-100, too. Especially in white. Similarily impressive value. Cheers and keep up the good work with your channel!

EFV-100D is an amazing watch for the money, indeed. I have the black and white versions and can't decide which one I like more. I love my Duros. I have one in each colourway and have changed the straps. The black is on a tan, leather strap. The blue is on a Jubilee, dive style bracelet, and the black-gilt is on a beads of rice. There are sapphire crystals available, as well as alternative hand sets and bezel inserts. They're a fun, easy to own and modify watch. Mine are worn when on my moto, mowing the lawn, and working on the car. Cheap, reliable and tough enough for a daily beater. Brilliant watches.

I've several Dive watches: a Seiko Turtle, a Citizen Pro-Master, an Amphibia, G-Shock, etc...and, a recently purchased a Casio Duro for a beater/Work grab and go watch. For years, I disregarded the Duro in spite of the large following and positive reviews. I admit I just felt it had to be over-exagerated and there was no possible way a $50 Casio Duro could be a good watch...afterall, I was burned on an Invicta pro diver (was dead within 3 months) when I first got into this infectious hobby so I thought "no way can this Duro" be good. I was wrong. I gave in and finally purchased one. It has been a very good watch. It's actually good looking, very reliable, easy to read, and fits my 7.25" wrist well. Admittedly, the rubber strap sucks (IMO). And, true, the lume is quite lame and the finishing is certainly not up to luxury watch levels. It's pretty utilitarian in most every aspect, but I've been very happy with it. I replaced it with a good leather strap and Wow! What a transformation! In any event, I'm definitly recommending this $50 dive watch-especially for those on a very limited budget, and for those who don't want to beat up their more expensive divers. In retrospect, this is the best $50 in hourology I've ever spent. Just goes to show how one's preconceptions can be wrong...

Thank you for this Duro appreciation haha. I recently got back into watches - just got tired of wearing a smart watch all the time. My old G-Shock was the only thing functioning out of my collection. First watch I bought was the blue duro and I got the black one for Christmas. I replaced the band with a nato strap before even putting it on haha. A green kanno on a gray and black nato is my next watch. I don't know if you can tell, but I kinda have a type haha (dive/nato).

I own a Casio Duro for 6 months now and I love it. I think it’s a very cool watch for the price. I own 3 other watches that cost more (Tissot PRX, Seiko Presage, Bulova Chronograph), but I wear the Casio Duro almost all of the time.

I've had a black one for a couple of years and it's great. Whilst I agree it wears smaller than you expect a 44mm to, I still find it a bit too big, so don't wear it too often. Like many I think should Casio bring out a 40 or 42mm version it would fly out the door!

I've had mine 8 years. It's my beater/work watch. Some scratches, 2 batteries later; it took a licking and keeps on ticking (sorry). 😞 Highly recommend it. 😊👍

Thanks Teddy, for dedicating a whole video to this iconic masterpiece. I have all six colourways of the magnificent Duro even if (sadly) the later 107 variants are no longer able to sport the fantastic marlin logo. They are the jewels of my affordable Casio collection and I wear each with pride; but if I did have to (agonisingly) pick a favourite it would probably be the blue (until tomorrow)🤩👍

Is your(?) reply genuine and not a scam? I'm asking because there's been quite a few lately. If not, I'm not entirely sure how to access the WhatsApp thing as I've never used it. Cheers 👍

Totally agree with your view here. I have the regular all black version and have owned it for about four years. It was used even then, and it's been great! I'm still on its original battery from my ownership anyway! I have just purchased the all blue version on Amazon for £50 free shipping to me here in the UK from a US seller ,so well pleased! Being a Casio fan and having mainly G shocks I've not got any issues owning these marlins ! I have paid a lot more for divers that don't compare with these mdv 106 for value and even quality considering the mass production side of things? One other point is that this Casio Japan movement is I've found extremely accurate in use with only a second or two a month gain? That to me is astonishing considering the price point! This watch is a classic for a reason and I totally recommend it.

Did several dives in the Philippines with one of these. It lasted about 15 years, paid about $40.

I have a Duro on my wrist because of this video of Teddy's. Really enjoying it. Was checking out the Vostok Amphibia, but I don't think I'll be sending any money Russia's way any time soon.

Literally never take mine off, other than to swap between rubber strap on site all week and mesh for the weekend. The Hamilton Khaki, 10x the price, doesn't get out of its box. Fantastic Watch.

Just got one after watching this review. For the price paid, $55, I'm impressed. My second hand is spot on to the markers.

I have several dive watches in my collection, but I’ve always been reluctant to wear them in the water, due to their value. So I purchased an inexpensive Duro (black), to wear during summer beach days. It’s has been a great watch for the past two summers, with no concerns to date.

Average Rolex owner. Wear your watches, if you just want to stare at them print a poster or go chuff an AD.

Hi Teddy, I don't often comment I just enjoy the videos but, had to this time. 1st congrats on your engagement to Courtney wishing you both the best on your next Journey. As I watched this video the funny thing is... I bought my 1st duro on my birthday 9 years ago today. I shocked to see you doing the video on my birthday (or released on my birthday). A great watch and because I am a Casio fanboy nice to see the Duro is still a popular watch especially for the price. I bought my 2nd last year the so called "Batman" look alike to the Rolex GMT we know.. it's not of course but, for some of us who are not quite there it feels good and for the value I am very happy with them both. Thanks again for the videos and congrats once again. All the best.

I recall owning one of these in the late 90's , however that one had a metal strap. I am not sure if this is still offered by Casio or not. It too a beating like no other: I used to be a party animal during those years, and also I would take it to the beach regularly. After its first battery change I took it to the beach once more, but unfortunately the gasket was worn off and was not replaced ( I realized this just after the fact) so water leaked in and ruined it. RIP to my beloved Duro, it was a present from my mother.

My first Duro lasted about 8 years before it just died. I think I paid under $40 for it at the time after wearing out a Casio MTD-1010 Submariner prior. In the last 2 years I have bought another black, blue (Bluro), and gilt. Replaced the stock straps with Tropic straps except the gilt with a brown leather croc. I now have a basic 4 watch rotation. Black and Blue Duro’s for everyday and SKX and Ray II Blue when I want to wear bracelets. That’s 4 really good divers for about $600 total!

Great watch, i love mine. Rumour is that the rights to the Marlin Logo have lapsed and new ones will lack this attractive dial detail. As a 7 inch wrist I can wear 34 to 44 but I think a 40 would sell like hot cakes. Also as a qualified divemaster I can tell you these are worn by scuba guys.

A great alternative for those of us that live in Europe is the EDF-130D, also from Casio, though it's only 100m WR the bezel has no play and the finishing is more precise in my opinion, with only 42mm case and with the smaller 38mm dial it wears smaller for those of us with small and average wrists. I got mine at around 50$ on sale and I'm very impressed by it. I would only change the bezel edge to be more like a coin edge and I don't mind the digital-ish font on it.

I have the blue one and I love it for all the reasons Teddy discusses. I put it on a blue sailcloth strap and it’s my summer go-to. My OP and Speedy get jealous. Best watch value since the Seiko 5.

I will always go with the budget watches that do the exact same thing as the overpriced ones. The duro is a perfect watch for just about anything whether you’re under water or out on the town. I like the fact that most these “micro brands” (Casio is not a micro brand) are giving all these mega brands a run for their money.

Owned this watch for 4 years. It's lone weakness is the crystal. Aside from that, it's my watch for painting, swimming, working around the house and even sometimes to work. It's versatile, has amazing finishing and is accurate. Great watch.

I had a spare Amazon gift card with no idea what to buy. Got my Batman Duro for $3.60 after gift card. I was super skeptical having worn nothing above 44mm LTL. I figured if it wouldn’t fit I could pass it off to my brother who is known for wearing big divers. Duro finally arrived and I feel in love immediately and it fit som much better than I ever could’ve expected. Duro is part of my core 2 watch collection along with my orient bambino v7. The Duro makes me wonder why I ever bought any other watch and Casio always makes me wonder why I ever go with any other brand

Well done! Many watch snobs shun this watch but as you pointed out, there is simply no watch on the market that can touch it's fit, finish and quality at this price point. The humble Duro easily passes for a far more expensive. I lovingly refer to mine (one black and one blue) as my "Redneck Submariners". If you're into nato straps, these are total strap monsters too. I am, and will remain, Duro Mafia 4 Life

I'm actually weighing this as an option for a cheap, reliable beater. But I'm still leaning towards an Orient.

I got the black dial version at the beginning of the month and it has overachieved all my expectations. I will be updating the strap to either a NATO version or a 3 link oyster style bracelet.

I got lucky and snatched up an Orient Ray 2 in blue, for just $80US on ebay. Otherwise I would have gotten the blue Duro as my entry level dive watch. It's just tremendous value!

This is my daily work watch, to rip off Timex, it takes a licking, and you know the rest. It excels in tough work environments, looks great on a NATO strap, and you can buy tempered glass screen protectors for it.

I have 4 MDV-106s watches and I think they are a tremendous value. I own 7 MDVs in total and they are worn in a rotation that gives them exposure to all sorts of activities. They look good, wear well and serve their function as a time piece as expected.
