Embargo is an easy S tier for me. The fact that it changes from a relatively small cart to a giant truck is imo a very unique mechanic in and of itself, because it means the amount of cover the payload gives changes dynamically during the map. This is super noticeable if you're a blu heavy actually pushing the cart, which I was the first time I played Embargo It was interesting to have to change tactics partway through the map, going from easy access to a small payload at the start of the map, to okay access to a very protective payload that kept me safe from snipers in the middle of the map, to the sudden jump in difficulty near the end especially on that last chokepoint Embargo is just a great map in general

Considering the only carts in S-tier are the OG bomb cart and Lil' Chew Chew, the former being the first ever for the new gamemode and the latter being the first custom cart (which also introduces the unique train-style payload), I think S-tier have very high standards and A-tier is the reasonably highest for more contemporary takes on carts.

Now I know Frontier is undoubtably an iconic and beloved Payload cart, but I have to admit I have my problems with it. Specifically while playing Demo, most carts are great places to place sticky traps, but Frontier's platform is awkward because it bounces stickies off. I mean this is good news for everyone but Demo, but I have to put my Strange Professional Scottish Resistance to good use you know?

I mostly agree, but I have a couple that I'd nudge around compared to your final list: • Embargo should be one higher in S tier. - The changing modes of transit, helicopter arrival, and unique look all are great. The only con for me is that the hud marker antenna thingy stands out as one of TF2's only things that is billboarded (locked to face the camera). Non-diegetic world space stuff like the spawn room barriers feels normal, but having a texture rotate towards the camera feels wrong. • Precipice should be one lower in C tier. - Design wise it is a cauldron on an awkwardly short cart, and nothing else. • Ghoulpit should be one higher in B tier. - It is a really unique and cool looking model that breaks from the "bomb on cart" formula, but still fits with TF2's art style and reads as a payload cart. Also, overall great editing in the video. Nice work!

Frontier's payload is a wildcard to me both the map and the cart itself. I've had several times I completely forget that the cart can kill you and I'd be on a killing spree only to clumsily walk into its jaws. Still such a fun map for me!

it technically doesn't count but I wonder where the civilian would be on this since in Team Fortress classic and Team Fortress 2 classic he's the payload. for the people unaware in Team Fortress classic payload race and payload did not exist and the closest mode there was had someone called the civilian in it where you'd escort them to the end like payload and in this mode the civilian was playable and you need to keep them alive.
