Really like the graphics like the thermals on your videos, they really add to the information! 😊

I always watch your video. I think you are doing a great job for the whole community! Thanks a lot for what you are doing! Hope to see you in Roldanillo this January. I’ll be there from the 20th to February 3rd. I’ll be glad to thank you in person. Drinks on me and my friends! 🙌🙌🙌

Thank you for your feedback, such comments really motivate me to continue making these videos. And yes, I'll be in Roldanillo in Jan/Feb, so maybe see you there!

So much knowledge about the geography and winds. Saves me years of exploration and bombing out.

Glad you find this useful! My best reward is when pilots can say after their flight: "that video helped me make it real".

At right about the 3:45 mark is where I landed out one day in January. I was still a super super new pilot at that point. Tough lesson to learn with that 13 or so mile hike out and down towards La Union!

For anyone curious, this is roughly where I fell out. 4°30'23"N 76°07'45"W

Thanks for sharing your story! I can imagine how hard it was to hike this route in the Colombian heat with a backpack on your shoulders. Looking at the coordinates you posted, I think this place is rather at 6:05 and 12:32 in the video. The one you pointed out at 3:45 is just right after taking off, it's near Roldanillo.

@dymanoid you might be right! Tough to tell haha. We launched from an unofficial launch that day with my guide. It was a little below the Los Tanques launch. Hindsight- I really had no business flying there. I was a nearly brand new p2 with the minimum hours. (Longest flight at that point was around an hour like 3 days prior in Ansermanuevo). Knowing what I know now, I could have gotten out of the situation. Or really not have ended up there in the first place. Hoping to go back late Jan....redemption is coming!

The antenna on the south side from Aquapanela is really strong. I had the opportunity to wriggle out of the pit and it was tough. The overhead option is better and it still kicks quite a bit above the antenna. Great guide.

Really love your videos! This is the first one I could follow along knowing exactly what you were talking about as I have flown most of the first half of this flight. Of course you did it better than I, but hey, there’s always next time. 👍👍

Awesome, thank you! Now you can fly something bigger - you know how the terrain looks like and what to expect.

Thanks - loads of useful tips. I’m going for the first time this year so maybe won’t get so far as that but I hope for a few 100s. Will need to watch this a few times I think ✌

Best of luck! I really hope this video will be useful to you and many more pilots planning their XC routes in Valle del Cauca.

@@dymanoidfor sure it will. I’ll never be able to remember all the cables but the rest I’ll definitely have a good map of where to go and what to expect

Great vid! Love the thermal and lee animations! Fun looking at all the spots I have also flown. Will be there on Jan. 23rd through Feb. 10. Let me know if you are out there, and I'll keep an eye out for you.

Nice vid, so many great memories there. I hope you make a vid about flying past Anserma. I had all kinds of fun there. Warning: If you top land in Ansermo for a quick toilet break, you still have to pay a launch fee :(
@dymanoid3 күн бұрын
Yes, an interesting place to fly. I've actually crossed to Ansermanuevo many times already, just didn't include that in the video. An interesting route is one-way from Roldanillo over Ansermanuevo further to the north. Maybe I'll fly it one day.

Great video, really useful. It is also possible to cross the valley earlier and fly the other side and avoid a lot of stress / power line problems / unlandable valleys / jungle / wilderness. You won't get the 185k triangle though.
@dymanoid5 күн бұрын
Absolutely! I also mention this when I talk about the route. It's possible to switch the valley side as soon as the valley starts generating lift. The flight will be much more relaxing, but at the same time much shorter too. That doesn't mean it will be "worse" or boring though!

Nice area for cross-country. Any power lines that we'd need to worry about ? I heard those made flying low quite tricky. Wouldn't to fly into one you know :P
@dymanoidКүн бұрын
What power lines? 😮 I've never heard about any power lines near Roldanillo 😅
@davidalhoff71906 күн бұрын
So lucky you did not ask for a Rum for every powerline;) I think it was 28 if the plural and the ones in the beginning also count Cheers
@dymanoid5 күн бұрын
Gosh, I should have asked for rum! I could have drunk so many cocktails then...
