There were probably Allied doctors that ordered the same thing, as there were probably Soviet troops that accidentally over fed Holocaust survivors. It's probably instinctual to want to give starving people lots of food. Don't get me wrong, I like the USSR, but it's very likely that the same things happened initially at the camps the Soviets liberated.

This was a painful walk down memory loss lane for me, born in the USA in the early sixties. The difference between "Western" media and e.g. Japanese, is that basically all of our (Euro) art is rooted in Ancient Greece and the rule of "decorum". It states that tragedy has no place in comedy and comedy has no place in tragedy (sorta). To put it simply: it's loss. Putting miscarriage in an essentially comedy comic "shocked" people so much exactly because it's a very big crime against decorum. In similar way I don't think it would be such an iconic moment if in Gladiator after "are you not entertained" hero got smashed in the face with a pie, or crushed by a surprised elephant or such. Japanese developed their own art&culture and held to it pretty staunchly for long enough that when the "global merging" happened and many trends, ideas etc. around the world got mixed, the "freedom" of Japanese creators of mixing essentially "emotional registers" to some is "weird good", to others "weird bad", but it's pretty not weird if you can see it without that decorum mindset. Can't think of any specific anime example of this, but it's basically "beach episode" between funeral and final boss battle. Or "a gruesome murder just happened. One of the characters makes a solemn comment, another makes an inappropriate innuendo, and suddenly gets smashed in the head with an oversized hammer. Then we remember there is a dead body of a dear friend spread across the floor and everything is sad again.

Guys…. One piece is the greatest story ever told, there’s less fillers than any other overall and the moral lessons aligns with what we want for the world. Comrades, freedom, quality of living for everyone no matter who, what ethnicity, religion or sexual preference or identity. If everyone watched it, the world would be a better place. Obviously you guys already want a better world but seeing a lovable group of people fighting for it, winning and losing and winning again, it’s truly full of highs, lows and hilarious antics and it’s definitely worth dipping your feet into. I fought it too, but I’m so glad I gave in😂 it’s been around for two decades for a reason 😉

@heyimshaggy Жыл бұрын
As someone who watched 2/3 of the series before quitting I disagree on the filler part. Sure, it only has 100 episodes of filler in terms of dedicated non plot related episodes. However, there are hundreds of plot relevant episodes that half anywhere from 25-80% of their runtime as filler, and minimal amounts of plot relevance. I'd highly suggest anyone who wants to watch use something called one pace, it's a site where people cut down the episodes to only have what's relevant/entertaining (some episodes literally trim down to like 4-5 minutes) I might've been able to finish it if I started with this.

The only thing I HATED was when the queen of Fishman Island appeals to a slaver instead of killing him. It's cringe AF and gets played as 'the right move'. But the Gray Terminal Arc was peak. "Let's kill the ghetto dwellers, we've got a noble visiting." And they go about their lives like nothing happened. Truth in storytelling right there.

Saw the live action. What a wonderful story! Then I saw some of the anime since I loved the live action so much and it was trash by comparison lol sorry. Just my opinion lol don't hate. And hey, maybe I just didn't give it enough of a chance but I gotta say... Wasn't a big fan of what I saw in regards to the anime lol. It's the little things that add up to me finding the anime cringe. For example when koby first meets luffy and tells him that pirates are bad and marines are good. In the live action Luffy responds empathetically. Comments on how not all pirates are bad. Not the one's he knows. He's so positive and lovable! Vs the anime where the response is very anime stereotype dumb and hate filled and just over the top. Like a child. "Ewww you like marines? I hate people like you!" He actually says something like that and it's just... Okay lol. Can you imagine meeting someone for the first time and saying to their face in a sociopathic way "I hate people like you" in a insane childish sounding tone. Almost sadistically laughing while saying it... Lol I dunno about this guys... Anime amiright fellaz? Lol. Then I saw a clip of the "of course I will! scene". In the live action it's dark and depressing. She's at her lowest point. And asks luffy for help even though we know she HATES asking anyone for anything as her character is someone who's had to struggle for everything on her own. And the look on his face is all you need to know. He's not the smartest guy but he knows enough to know he needs to help her by whoopin that fishmans azz! The tension and build up is great! You really feel like he cares for her deeply and isn't just a weird stretch boy wearing another mans hat bumbling through life. I've watched this scene multiple times it's great. That was the moment where I was willing to follow that silly stretch guy into any battle! VS the anime where she says you don't know what's going on here and he replies with a almost jokingly and condescending "yeah I know derrr I'm a dumb dumb haha". The tone is goofy. I know that's not exactly how he said it but it was like that. The tone at least. NOT SERIOUS like the scene should call for considering this fishazzhole ruined her life and surely luffy knows that at this point so why isn't he acting like it? Like is this guy even there??? It almost felt like he didn't feel her pain or if he did, I don't feel it was well conveyed. Sorry. It came off wayyy more silly than attention grabbing and serious is all I'm sayin. Villains in the anime also tend to do that anime cringe thing where they evil boss monologue rant for most of the episode that just goes on and on and on and on. The live action shortened that crap so we can actually get on with the story already. Much better way to do it in my opinion. For example when luffy meets arlong in the show. They start fighting in about a minute after some back and forth. "well... I guess you're going to have to fight me for it. Then let the fighting begin!" And the fighting starts lol it's great. Vs the anime where we would probably still be talking before the action starts. The delay puts me to sleep yo. Like we get it dood. You're evil. Stop explaining just how evil you are in great detail lol we get it! In the words of zoro, shut up and fight! Luffy in the live action fighting arlong... You can tell he takes it seriously and is fighting for his friends. In the anime the goofball is literally playing with arlongs sets of teeth when he should be kicking his azz already. In the anime, even zoro comments on how frustrated he is with luffy for not taking the battle more seriously. It just comes off as cartoony and silly and more for kids I guess. I preferred it much better in the live action. Luffy shouldn't just be a silly boy to me. He should also be a hero! And the live action show does both! Anime to me only shows him as a silly weirdo. Like I said I could be just not watching the anime enough and I'm missing some stuff... To be fair though in the anime when he sees the torture room that nami was kept in, he finally does get serious. I just wish we got that side of luffy earlier is all. The part where Shanks gives luffy the hat. Mannnn in the live action the look on Shanks face when he gives him the hat. It's like he loves luffy like a son or a brother. Brings a tear to my eye. You really felt like he wanted the best for luffy. VS the anime where he was very condescending and dismissive of luffy. "I was never going to let you join us anyways hahaha". He said something like that and it's just such a cruel thing to say to a lil kid and I felt like it effing suuucked compared to the way the live action handled it. I was thinking... ABOUT TIME! Ooof. I just now for the first time watched the sanji leaving berattie scene here on youtube for the anime. WAYYY better in the live action. In the live action you really feel like poor Sanji had to struggle for everything in life. He's always been alone aside from hardazz zeff being the only one who cares for him but zeff is a hardazz so he was never able to be human and show caring emotion. When he leaves he doesn't care what he's leaving behind because it was mostly always a bad experience... But then he remembers the one good thing, that he owes zeff his life despite the hard times they have both had to endure. When zeff tells him to keep his feet dry. Sanji almost walks away without caring but the better side of him gets the best of him and he lets out what he never had the strength to say and it was just beautiful. I'm getting a lil teary eyed just thinking about it. VS the anime where there's these two moron side characters doing the cringe anime over the top levels of hyper hate/love for the guy that's just killing the vibe lol. Like someone farting during a touching moment. GrEaT lol. Sanji in the anime has the respect and love of ALL his co workers. A million chefs worship him and are sad to see him go. I don't feel like this version of sanji struggled as much. Harder for me to sympathize here in the anime vs the live action. Not 100% about this but I also heard he's a bit creepy around the ladies in the anime vs the live action that made him more harmlessly flirtatious and lovable. Anime tends to struggle in this area. Japanese culture sux azz at showing respect to women. Glad to see that change for the better over the years but they still got work to do in this area. The villains are done pretty deep in the live action, aside from that club lady in the start of the show, we get next to nothing for back story on her so that sux. Perhaps we'll see more from her in season two! But buggy, the butler, garp, and arlong all have a deeper side. Not just evil azzholes in many ways but they were clearly once not that bad and were driven to become unredeemable sax of crap. Buggy seemed like he wanted to be a great pirate once but the falling out with shanks clearly drove him towards sadistic revenge and ego over inflation. The butler thought that being a pirate would get him respect when it just made people fear and hate him and he took it the wrong way and descended into evil. He gave up on his dream like luffy says. It's pretty sad actually. Arlong is clearly tired of being treated lesser than humans. Which is a totally fair stance for him to have. But sadly... Like a IDF soldier. Him being persecuted in any shape or form makes him feel that he has the right to persecute anyone else a million times harder. His hate got the best of his judgement... Instead of becoming the liberator of fishmen, which would be heroic and lovable... He's a enslaver of humans which is horrible. Being a dictator made him bubble brained from reality. So much so he started to think things that are just wrong. Fishmen are not superior. Plenty of them get slaughtered by humans all of the time vice versa... Garp is kind of the opposite of the rest of the villains. He comes from a place of cruelty and force from the start. And in the end starts to understand Luffy better and eases up. Not all pirates are bad. You shouldn't fight every pirate you see. Oh and there's also axe hand but I don't think they did very good with him. Character honestly felt like a moron only there to help develop his sons character who is also a moron, but smart enough to try and be nothing like his idiot father and he grows in the show and it's good to see. He starts as a rich boy bully but then starts to actually do some good in the world by standing up for what's right. So yeah not all the villains were done with the best of love and care, no show is perfect, and I'm not perfect either so I'm missing some key stuff here I'm sure but this is just my opinion as of right now. So yeah fellerz. Mayyybe I needa watch more but that's just how I feel right now about the anime. It's meh over all to me. The live action brought the silly and the serious. To me the anime pretty much just brings the silly and fails whenever trying to do the serious. Or it at least fails compared to the live action. See you at the grand line fellas! Unless of course the sea beast known as netflix crushes the show and cancels it like they always do lololol. Better not happen! Netflix execs should be gum gum gattlinged if they do that! Heck they should be gum gum gattlinged regardless. The heads at netflix are scum after all. Shame that sooo many kool shows have to work under a umbrella made of dog shat. When the show did great netflix wanted a season 2 to get started asap. The creator said he needed more time though to make it properly... You know netflix is upset about that... Because money is all that matters to them. Not a show being good. Fingers crossed season 2 turns out just about as good or better!

From what I understand, the stomach decreases in size after not eating for a while (but goes back to normal after some days of refeeding) so one factor is simply size, you cant refeed them too much volume of food, so you want to avoid things with lots of air and low density, so no plain bread for example. Another factor is carbs, insulin and electrolytes, they are in ketosis, so they are running on their bodyfat, rapidly going to carb burning by giving them lots of carbs, again like bread, pasta, sugar and so on would suddenly spike their insulin way to high and thereby mess with their electrolytes. So TLDR, small amounts of protein and fat can be given to a fasting / starved person without issue, if your giving carbs, it needs to be a tiny amount over a longer period, but from what I understand you dont need to be as careful if your giving protein and fats. But please fact check me, I am no doctor, I just like reading about ketosis and fasting.

@@NinthSettler OMG! Is that so? I haven't yet read one piece. Berserk makes the reader familiar, IMO, to class struggle, dialectic materialism (causality) the impunity of oligarchs (the Godhand) and their goons (apostles) with a never ending thirst for blood (capitalism) and the spiral-like motion of history. Possibly, capitalism itself appears depicted as the "Idea of Evil" (which appears in an episode no longer available in tankobons, from what I've herad, as Miura determined it would spoil the end game somehow) The first eclipse was also very reminescent of capitalism; reducing the Band of the Hawk to an object; a comodity (i.e.: "they are already willing to give their lives for my dream. ergo, sacrificing them here and now is all the same, just quicker. A more efficient exchange of goods and services indeed")

One Piece is actually my second highest rated piece of fiction that i've ever consumed, with the top spot going to Vinland Saga. I strongly recommend reading the manga for both. Neither are over yet but both are approaching a conclusion. Vinland Saga is a more obviously mature story but One Piece is extremely based, deals with topics and plot elements that are relevant to us, most noticeably imperialism, slavery and exploitation. If you haven't given it a try, please, by all means, do consider doing so (the manga, the Toei anime adaptation does a huge disservice to the story).
