Intro - Surah Ale Imran, Verse 185:
Translation:
Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the delusion of enjoyment.

If we had to buy a moment in Jannah with a lifetime of misery, it would still be an amazing deal! And if we had to go through just a moment in hell to be able to enjoy our while life on this Earth to the fullest, it would be a horrible price to pay. No matter what we go through we cannot possibly earn Jannah through our own deeds. Jannah is way more valuable than all of your good deeds and efforts. It is only out of Allah's infinite Rahmah that we can hope to get into Jannah. We don't even want to be in Jahannam for a second! We cannot even imagine what its like! The least punishment in Jahannam is worse than the worst pain you have ever experienced! Jannah is worth all the hardship we go through and more! Be ambitious! Give it your best! Don't settle for less! Be patient! Allah is with the patient! May Allah strengthen us and grant us Jannat-ul-firdaus! ❤️

Barak Allah feek Shiekh Yasir. This series has been so useful and enlightening. The subject of ibn Taymiyah extremely controversial and probably over our heads since our understanding of him or any other Muslim scholar so limited in this day and age. Good food for thought that I don't think is correct and side with camp that says only Allah knows, but believe jahannam to be eternal. Shaytain deserves eternal punishment for what he's done to us since the time of Adam AS. He deserves no mercy.

In Taimiyyah's analysis is definitely food for thought, and your analysis on Yajuj and Majuj is also food for thought, so long our ummah in general wakes up and learns to churn some vigorous thoughts. Without being apologetic and being on the watch for critics' harsh labeling, I wish you could expand on these ideas more rigorously and unabashedly moving forward.

Brother , as a revert will my parents go to hell eternally? They don't follow any religion and hence don't associate any partners. They are good to me and fine with me being a muslim.. I am constantly disturbed of the fact of them landing up in hell as anyone would do. Allah swt declared his Mercy overcomes his anger, so would it make sense for eternal punishment. Even a mother or father would not punish their children for eternity if they have caused them lot of harm and troubled them no matter how angry they are, that too in a unimaginably terrible place like hell. As a muslim if I enter jannah InshaAllah, can I be at peace with my self seeing my own family suffering in eternity? I know those who reject Allah swt deserved to be punished badly , however Allah punishing them eternally doesn't seem to match the quality of His Mercy..and why would Allah say in Quran unless he wills for hell.

The topic presented by Dr Yasir is a... Very advanced one, and requires several bits of knowledge pieced together. I hear what Ibn Teymmiya (RTA) is saying. It's not necessarily a concrete belief, but rather a presentation of something POSSIBLE, which is consistent with our Islamic knowledge of Allah. As for me personally, I will take the verses of the Quran at face value. ME PERSONALLY, I'm not even a student of knowledge, just a Muslim trying to find his way

On this topic... it shouldn't be something that a Muslim dwells over. Our focus should be on Jannah. Spending the equivalent of one second, one day, one week or one million years in Jahannam is never something that a Muslim wants to experience. The difference of opinion on whether Jahannam is for eternity seems irrelevant - this is a topic that a person should say "Allah (swt) knows best" and leave it at that. Also - In the lecture it was stated that the opinion of Jahannam not being for eternity might save a person's Iman - however it could also do the opposite (i.e. a sinful person may continue to be sinful because they believe their sins are too much and that person may have a false 'sense of security' because shaitan whispers to them that even if they are sent to Jahannam, Jahannam will eventually cease so in the end their punishment will stop. Hence they can continue being sinful and not make changes in their life. Shaitan will use anything to deceive people so talking about this topic doesn't seem helpful. Allah (swt) knows best.
@SpaceCadetIsabella
@SpaceCadetIsabella 3 жыл бұрын
@Najma Khan but if this notion is not true then a person would be led into thinking it is when it is not, hence it's better to say "Allah (swt) knows best" and leave it there. An anti-islamist person will come up with all sorts of reasons why Islam is "like this and not like that" but they are anti-Islam, hence anti Allah (swt) hence, anti prophet Muhammad (saw)... this is not someone that needs to be appeased. An anti-islamist person will most likely say that any person going to Hell proves Allah (swt) is not merciful and so on and so forth. We don't question Allah's (swt) mercy so why question his wrath when he gave mankind all that we have and generations upon generation of people have completely and totally disrespected Allah (swt) and mankind has been given warning after warning. Islam and the Qur’an teaches us how abundant the mercy of Allah (swt) is and even then we have no real comprehension of it. It really is clear. If a person chooses to focus on "this doesn't make Allah (swt) merciful and that doesn't make Allah (swt) merciful", it's deception (either by themselves or by shaitan) because Allah (swt) is The Most Merciful. A person only needs to read the Qur’an to see this and the Qur’an is readily available.

Read Sura HUD chapter 11 verse 108. The same thing also applies to Jannah. Jannah can also be temporary and cease to exist if Allah wants. Verily Allah can do whatever he intends to do. So bringing up the verse 107 to somewhat claim that Jahannam is temporary and Jahannam itself will cease to exist after a period of time is totally and foolishly out of context. Because this same thing can also be applied to Jannah. May Allah have mercy on our beloved Shaykh Ibn Taymiah. May Allah also have mercy on us. May Allah give us guidance and bless us with beneficial knowledge. Allahuma Amin

It is strange that a group of scholars are of the view that Hell will cease to exist, based on false arguments which go against what is indicated by the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and they misinterpreted the meanings of the Qur’aan and Sunnah and said that the words “dwell therein forever” mean for as long as it exists. How can this be correct? If they are to dwell therein forever, that means that Hell itself must last forever, as they will be in it. If a person is to dwell in some place forever, then the place where he will be must last forever as well, because if that place will cease to exist then he cannot dwell forever. The verse is very clear, and the arguments which go against the text are to be rejected. This difference of opinion which was narrated from a few scholars is to be rejected, because it goes against the clear text which every believer must believe in. Whoever goes against it because of some argument that he comes up with may be excused before Allaah. But whoever studies the texts of the Qur’aan and Sunnah will know that the view that Hell will last forever is the truth which cannot be ignored Collected from islamqa.info

@@muslimtorchbearer6146 yeah those arguments are false. there are plenty of ayat saying disbelievers wont be allowed to die or allowed the torment to lighten on them or be brought out of hell or ever forgiven and He describes their torment as adhaabal khuld and their place as daaralkhul

There is still a difference. After Allah swt saying whatever he intends, he adds an everlasting giving without end, when describing jannah. But that isn't the case with jahannum. The description of jahnnam rnds with whatever your lord wills.

Jakaza Allah. I add as a conclusion what the Imam Anas Lala wrote in his good article on this subject (found on a the site maison-islam) : « Neither Ibn Taymiyya nor Ibn ul-Qayyim said that the Fire of Gehenna will have an end: Ibn Taymiyya contented himself with recounting 2 opinions, and showing that the second opinion remains different from that of Jahm ibn Safwân. Ibn ul-Qayyim, for his part, clearly expressed a tawaqquf. It would be very unfair for us to start assigning them something different from what they actually said. » (His article is very long and clearly detail on this subject for those who can read arabic)

The Quran also says hell itself is eternal not just its inhabitants. So "it" will be forever So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do." ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ أَعْدَاءِ اللَّهِ النَّارُ ۖ لَهُمْ فِيهَا دَارُ الْخُلْدِ ۖ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ That is the recompense of the enemies of Allah - the Fire. For them therein is the home of eternity as recompense for what they, of Our verses, were rejecting.

I think Shaikh al Islam understood that torchering people for eternity contradict with notion the all merciful God. How can God claims to love humans more than 100 mothers yet condemns them in hell for forever ? Punishment for the sake of punishment without giving people opportunity or hope for reforms is torchering of worst kind. Anyone with emphaty will understand why Shaikh al Islam had this position. But as Qur'an explicitly mentioned that hell is eternal so he could not openly disagree with. Yet it's very brave of Ibn e Taimiya to say this even in Hush Hush voice.

It seems if I get past one hurdle on my life, in terms of extremely depressing thoughts, there is a new wave, if you like, of demotivation and sadness, and right now, it is the eternal nature of Hell. How can I be expected to believe, with my limited knowledge that Allah is indeed the most merciful if he will cause people to be eternally humiliated, burnt, tortured, mocked and immersed in regret and grief, no matter what they have done. Yes, there is no denial from me that there are people who deserve punishment and justice should be served for the people who have been oppressed, yes evil individuals who have done evil things do exist, no doubt, but eternal, never ending punishment seems like a whole, different level of cruelty. By the way, there is no doubt in my mind, apart from the pathetic, unimportant 'waswas' that Islam is the truth from Allah, too many things just seem to 'click', I believe this to be the truth, which is a reason as to why I cannot possibly justify or understand eternal hell. Allah can see me typing this, so Allah please, forgive me for saying this, but I would really love there to be justice, but not eternal humiliation and regret.

@@dhuss14but your critera for judging what an appropriate punishment is appears to have no proof, its just a claim, like how different moral groups have their own criterions for judging what is a worthy punishment, even if you emotionally feel resistant, at least with reason it can be pretty easily established that this is at least logically possible in being totally aligned with Justice, the issue with us is that perhaps Without realising it we conflate justice with well being or justice as resulting in our overall benefit when in truth justice can and has required negative emotions, the eternality of the experience of pain in varying forms, what makes someone worthy of it, it is a life lived in unjustified misguidance and with no belief although the sahabah have said that Allah could put all in Jannah or all in a Hell and it wouldn't contradict his Justice, Mercy is not something identical to Justice, any mercy or wrath shown is in the scope of what justice allows, but the degree of mercy or wrath shown is optional and not necessary and there is no contradiction in reason for this, If I said I think there's a contradiction between a wrathful Lord and him offering me Jannah, you would reply well Allah isn't compelled neither obliged to only be wrathful in fact he has other attributes such as mercy which makes possible something eternally merciful in nature such as Jannah, the criterion to judge the worthiness of a crime is known to Allah and can simply be this that living a life of unjustified evil, disbelief and shirk is by its very nature worthy of eternality of Hell though it wouldn't contradict his Justice to take it out for he has this permissibility and Authority to do so, what I am simply trying to establish is that in reason there is no contradiction in this, also saying his Mercy prevails over His Wrath can be interpreted with regards to His Patience and Mercy he shows in the Dunya restraining His Wrath and even in the hereafter by him not exercising as much wrath as he could and excericing more mercy than he is obliged by whats Just

A CLARIFICATION and CORRECTION: Ibn Taymiyya and Ibn Qayyim did NOT say that Hell is temporar. That was a slander against them. In their own books they always say its eternal. Ibn taymyiya: Dar at taarud, volume 2, page 358: وقال أهل الإسلام جميعاً: ليس للجنة والنار آخر، وإنهما لا تزالان باقيتين، وكذلك أهل الجنة لا يزالون في الجنة يتنعمون، وأهل النار في النار يعذبون، ليس لذلك آخر And all the people of Islam said: There is no end to Heaven and Hell, and they are still there. Likewise, the people of Paradise are still enjoying in Paradise, and the people of Hell are in Hell being tormented, and there is no end to that Ibn Taymiyya also says in his books The salaf and its imams and ahlu sunnah wal jamaah agree, that some creation like the Arsh, jannah, and Hell will never cease to exist Ibn Taymiyya authored a book refuting those who claim that Hell is temporar The book is called: الرد على من قال بفناء الجنة والنار There is no evidence that Ibn Taymiyya hold that view. Assuming he did, he obviously retracted it, since in every single book he says that Hell is eternal like Paradise The scholar Ibn Hazm wrote a book where he gathered issues where there is ijmaa' (consensus) of Islamic scholars. Ibn Taymiyya wrote a commentary on it and he criticised some mistakes of Ibn Hazm, because there actually was a difference of opinion in some issues. But, ibn Hazm claims there is consensus that Hell is eternal and Ibn Taymiyya NEVER critices Ibn Hazm for that. So, Ibn Taymiyya clearly did believe that Hell is eternal, like all other Islamic scholars. This is why u should learn Islam from Islamic scholars, NOT from western academics

The truth is humans can not understand eternality, nor do we fully comprehend time. Geological timescales are hard to understand, cosmic timescales are even harder to imagine... Let alone forever and ever.... If a time limit was given for hell, it would be rendered useless when compared to eternality. For example everything would be considered insignifcant if punishment for a crime was a million years in fire but if they were to put in heaven for eternality after that time.... It would not serve as a warning as humans will look at things relatively ... A million years are just a tiny spec when compared to eternality..... There is great wisdom in not figjting hard for the ibn al qayyim position... As people will not heed the warnings and slack.... As they will have more emphasis on HOPE rather than FEAR
