Not sure when this concert was recorded in 1988, but Mr. Twelve-Forty-Five, bass singer extraordinaire, Pervis Jackson died not long after, in August 18th of the same year. I had the pleasure of meeting him, Bobby Smith, Henry Fambrough, Billy Henderson and John Edwards when I introduced them to the audience at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA a year or three before this. They were wonderful to me, and it's so nice when you meet your heroes and they turn out to be every bit as friendly and gracious as you imagined they would be. Much love.

It's either me, you, or the whole world has gone completely BONKERS! The lineup is not from 1988, nor had they aged this drastically in 1988. Pervis died August 2008, and the lineup looks more at home in 2008, than 1988.

This was one of my dads all time favorite groups. I remember listening to him play their music when I was a kid, to this day I love these types of groups. Showmanship, wonderful vocalist and done the real way, no auto tune like this garbage that’s out today. Being from DETROIT and having artist like these gentleman and so many others The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and so many more in my option this was some of the BEST music eras of all time.

I think there's a mistake in the title. If their 40th anniversary was in 1988, that would mean they started in 1948, which is WAY off. This is more like the early 2000's. Maybe around 2007 before Pervis died. They got together in 1957 so that's probably a bit more like it.
@carriereyhl6019
@carriereyhl6019 2 жыл бұрын
I think it’s 2001 if it’s the 40th anniversary of their professional debut. Henry Fambrough has mentioned several times in interviews that while they started singing together in the 1950s, they began singing professionally in 1961. That was when they started getting paid. Also G.C. Cameron rejoined the group in 2000 and left them in 2003.

This has to be after 2008. Because Billy Henderson passed away in 2007. Pervis Jackson passed away in 2008 and John Edward (Who replaced Philippé Wynne in 1977, had a Stroke in 2000) Only Bobby Smith and Henry Fambourgh seem to be the only originals on the stage. This couldn't have 1988, because Bobby atill looked healthy and voice was strong still in 1988. Even when they appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show around the early 90's they still sounded good.

Something about the title is not right. I don't think this is 1988. The keyboard that you see the musician playing on is the Korg Triton, which didn't come out until 2003. And I can tell by the age of Bobby and Henry and some of the other fellows but this particular performance aired far far after 1988. Maybe they're saying they were celebrating something that happened in 1988 I don't know. But I can guarantee you that this particular video is not from 1988 at all. Might want to correct that
