The Devastating Story Of Flynn Rider's Birth Parents... | Disney's Tangled
Eugen Fitzherbert, AKA Flynn Rider, was a character who was quickly defined by his charm, and quick wit, but it turns out that those traits developed to protect Rider from his deeply tragic upbringing. According to Flynn’s story in Tangled, as well as Tangled: The Series, and other sources, Flynn didn’t know who his parents were until after meeting Rapunzel, and by then he would learn why they chose to abandon him. The revelation not only led Flynn to question what his true role in the world was, but it also revealed to the audience that there was much more to his tragic origin, than what was shown when Disney introduced his character.

Flynn Rider was born as a prince of the Dark Kingdom, but shortly after he was born, his father, in a futile effort to destroy the Moonstone, caused a big explosion that destroyed his kingdom and killed a lot of people, including his wife Flynn's dad then ordered the evacuation of his people and had Flynn sent away for his safety, the nurse maid that was in charge of looking after Flynn ended up sending him to an orphanage in the neighboring kingdom when Flynn got older, he ran away from the orphanage and became a wanted thief, so he could live a life full of adventure

Believe it or not. I actually hated his backstory reveal when it happened. I loved the mystery of his past, his focus on the the present and future. But it kinda grew on me.

Year late reply, but I think your misunderstanding his character. He’s still an orphan, in a way. He was still raised as one and therefore still act like one. But his character is all about moving on. He can’t hold onto his past ways forever. And he was going to be a prince anyway since he’s marrying Rapunzel. Plus the lost sun princess and the lost moon prince is pretty cute.

I love this movie, but really, even movie kids need their parents. I’m not saying that things would have been better or worse if his dad had him stay with him, but he still should have raised him, no matter what guardians Flynn may have had. And yes I mean the birds. Didn’t finish the series, but I knew the birds were important somehow. And how do we know Eugene doesn’t end up reading about Flynn Rider and becoming Flynn after all? I think he could have had a few fights with his father about the moonstone and decided to run away from his destiny anyway, and then he might have gotten into trouble, end up in a tower, and meet Rapunzel. He’d know about the hurting song, and Rapunzel knows the healing song, they both could use Rapunzel’s hair to their advantage. That would be one interesting movie. 😂

It’s not confusing at all. Lol you should watch it if you ever get the chance. It’s on Disney+. However, without spoiling too much, assuming that you watch this video, you already got some spoilers, so I’ll just give you a little bit of the rundown. Basically those magic rocks that they were talking about is the reason why Rapunzel has her hair back in the TV series only it works differently than it did in the movie. The show is actually really good so I would recommend it.
