Qb3 was a good move, otherwise the position would be pretty gruesome, but is there something wrong with black responding Rb8 Qc3 or Qd3, Bxf3 Nxf3, Nxf3 Qxf3, Bxc1 Rxc1 and Rxb2 winning a pawn?

@@RandomGuyOnKZbin601not as far as I can see, well spotted. It might be better to play Nxf3 instead because if Bxf3 the sequence could go: Rb8 Qc3 Bxf3 Nxf3 Nxf3 gxf3 and if Bxc1 there's Rxc1 piling pressure on the c-file's weak pawns. However, if Nxf3 first Black keeps the bishop pair after gxf3 and can play Bd7 defending c6 and having opened the king. Wait no, I just realized after Rb8 Qc3 Bxf3 Nxf3 Nxf3 Qxf3 Bxc1 Rxc1 Rxb2 there's Rxc6 I think☠️☠️

I loved this video. I will try to express why: One - its not clickbaity, its not about Magnus or other chess personality. Two - it gives us insight on how you both calculate, how you decide between different moves which all seem good to me. Three- the fact that both players recorded and you edited and show both sides is great. Its like watching a game with comentary, but not from outsiders but the players themselves. So im just liking and subscribing

I’m calling for a rematch or another match against a 1750+ player. On the recaps if we can display the bar that shows who is winning too. Great game by both. Nelson I thought you were for sure finished down so much time and the fight you showed pivoting to quicker plays was incredible.

At 16:10 I was thinking knight h4 then queen d7, sac the bishop to h3, when pawn takes take back the pawn with the queen, threatening mate with the next move being queen to d2. Makes it very hard for white to deal with and coordinate a response, they would have to see the attack right at the bishop sac or it would be too late. All of his pieces are on the other side of the board undeveloped. Wonder what you think about this idea

Whats the difference between a 2100 and a 2200? 🤔 I have heard that from 2000 and 2200 is a major gap. However, I do not hear much about 2100 to 2200 in chess. Anyways, this video is great and I learned a lot; this will help with my OTB games too!

There's very little difference between a 2100 and a 2200 truth be told, and this guy is probably underrated because of his connection issues. The only major difference is between the top elite level and the rest. I believe that anyone can reach Nelson's level with diligent study.

I wonder why Nelson didn’t consider …Bb4 instead of …Bg5. It’s a better version of the same idea, in that it not only attacks the knight on d2 but pins it to the rook on e1. Thus, for instance, White’s response in the game (Qb3) is unavailable because Black takes on f3 (probably with the bishop) and the d2 knight can’t recapture due to the pin. Weird blind spot? Edit: just saw that Nelson covered this in the postgame review.

I'm puzzled how persistent is the goal for settling pawns in the center of the board. Literally every game revolves around such aim, as if pawns were to deliver checkmate. Tired of this pointless approach, so discouraging at fueling some interest for the game.
@GoodKnightChess
@GoodKnightChess 5 ай бұрын
Having a strong center means more space, more space means more piece mobility, more piece mobility means chances for an attack and a chance to seize the initiative and call the shots i.e your opponent would have to respond to your moves as opposed to making their having time for their own plans and trying to execute them. Of course the opponent isn't just going to sit back and let you get all that hence the struggle which sometimes clouds the benefits of having a strong center. But if you were to see a game between a strong opponent and a much lower rated one who has no idea why they should fight for the center or how to go about it, most of the things I mentioned above would be demonstrated clearly.
@lingtao969
@lingtao969 5 ай бұрын
try playing a game against a strong opponent without trying to control the center with pawns or pieces at some point; you will get crushed.
@enderyu
@enderyu 5 ай бұрын
Your argument is like saying that players should be less materialistic and stop caring about the "arbitrary" point system (3 points for bishops, knights, etc.), since chess is about checkmate and not points. But the argument often falls flat since sacrificing a queen for 2 minor pieces will most often give you more limited options and less chances to win the game. Even if chess principles are not written in the rules, they arise naturally and have to be understood to master the game

It does kinda suck and take away from some of the creativity of the game, but if you don’t do it your opponent will forcing the game to always go a certain way. There still is a lot of room for interesting and fun middle games with a lot of tactics and free thinking strategy. “Opening studies” has partially ruined the game though
