Hi sifu. My life was hard, I grew up on the street, without my parents, in a home for abandoned children .. I am currently working on 3 jobs at a time to feed my family and I am at the stage that I would love to change my job because I have a hard time living. I like what you do .. I educate myself daily, read books, go to seminars, train ... I would love to start working for you, You will get a warrior who is ready to work 24/7. I hope you are reading this. Have a nice day ..

Mentors are a such rarity, a necessity for youngsters. A mentor relationship is also on a deeper level. There is a personal incentive to want another one to succeed.

I just ask a ceo to be my mentor few weeks ago. He agreed to meet up. I don’t know what to expect from this meeting but let’s go with the flow. First step to be successful is to surround yourself and make friends with successful people.

This is a great explanation! To further this, I would say a mentor guides you while you work at doing what you previously learned. He provides direction and feedback, and he also empowers you to move beyond what you think you can do. He trusts that you can handle a bigger task or more responsibility and guides you with feedback in progress. Even more than this, if you have a GREAT mentor, he imparts his vision to you. There is a saying, "more is imparted than taught". He shows by example how to apply what you learned in school or training to real world projects. That said, you can find this in your boss, another co-worker, or someone you follow online. It doesn't have to be perfect, but if you practice, you can find "mentors" for a specific season in your life that will teach you much more than just routine job skills, without even asking them to be a mentor. It's how they share with you why they do the things they do vs something else, how to do things most effectively, or how your tiny project plays an important role in a much larger system.

Mentors have taught me on a more personal level, being able to learn lessons directly from experience and with them while they are on their journey as well is far more valuable than a thought-out lesson from a teacher. A mentor to me is a combination of a mentor, coach, and teacher.

I paused at the beginning of the video to give my input on the question. The difference between the two is a teacher can only teach what they have been taught and then they have nothing more to offer you in terms of knowledge a teacher can only give you the basics in which most cases probably don't always apply to you. Teachers go back in time and teach you something from the past that's why they teach you history and not the future cause all they can do is teach the exact same thing. The difference with a mentor is they speak from experience and give you advice that will follow and guide you through you life cause you won't remember a quiz but you will remember a powerful life lesson that only someone who has made the mistakes and learnd from them. A mentor will guide when they know you need the help and not just teach you every and not expect you to make any mistakes even though they just taught you. Mentors help give you a better future teachers teach you how live and not to succeed in most cases.

Important note, to find a great mentor, you must WANT to go beyond the knowledge of how to perform basic tasks to the "why" behind them. You must WANT to know how things work, and not just blindly follow a routine. You must WANT to see the bigger picture. You must be willing to change your world view if needed. "When the student is ready...."

Among Mentor, Coach and Teacher for professional life, always go for the mentor. Coach and Teacher they can help you grow to a point, but in later stages of your life when you are about to blossom, you absolutely need a mentor, who can help you blossom the way he did. And the best part unlike teacher or coach, mentor doesnt need teaching or coaching experience to start mentoring. Any successful or influential in your field can become your Mentor.

Dan sifu please I have a question . So my teacher said that ethics has everything to do with buisness and ethics can not be separed from buisness and for a businessmen the most important thing is ethics . And I said that yes ethics is important but i am not agree with th idea of ethics has everything to do with buisness and it's not the most important thing there is what we called skills and I said to her that I think that skills is more important than ethics because if we have skills we have automatically ethics so we don't need to act unethically . Which is right?

You forgot to mention what the mentee brings to the table. Usually it's a younger or unbiased experience the mentee has, it allows the mentor to put words to, confirm and master those experiences in a new way. Also it just feels good to share experiences. Basically, all the mentee needs to do is be openminded, ask questions/share stuff and listen. If you are "doing stuff" for your mentor, then you are being taken advantage of.

I plan on putting up a video about this on Tuesday. Literally about how Teachers/Professors need to act more like mentors (so i guess not quite the same video). But if teachers and professors are trying to educate the people in these fields that will become experts in the future. Well don't they need someone to guide them in the right direction initially? Where are the mentors in the young people's lives while they are "finding themselves" in colleges and universities. But hey, that's just my two cents on the topic.

Either of those functions can be attributed to either roles. They are not exclusive to the titles. Teachers can teach from experience, for example, and also hold their students accountable. I think what should matter is when studying is being done. The rest might as well be irrelevant.

"there are not a lot of great mentors who are willing to mentor people" I don't think thats true, because there are a lot of people who have been there and done what you want to do. you just have to ask them for mentorship.
@kizmoxstar4723
@kizmoxstar4723 4 жыл бұрын
Caitlyn Goss Not everyone is passionate enough about what they do to be a mentor. If a person is truly capable of being a mentor, you may not even need to ask, you just have to be willing to receive what they freely put out there. Ask for help if you need it, but frequently this means working under their direction, so be prepared for that. Even people who volunteer to work as mentors (think SBA) do not always have the ability to impart what they have to you. Look for people who are passionate enough about what they do to want to share that with everyone, and just receive what they naturally put out there. Those are the ones you ask.
