For all to consider: Worship is not man-made, but revealed and handed down to us. It is heavenly, heaven-given. We don't make it up. We don't imitate or follow the cultural currents of our day (music, style, etc.) but we celebrate the timeless Mystery of the Kingdom which is the same yesterday, today and forever, as is the Faith Once Delivered. The Way, Truth and Life of the Church is Christ and He is not changing from age to age. This heavenly worship was given and treasured and insofar as there has been change over the 2000 years it pertains only to certain externals or the human side of the SYNERGY (cooperation) between God and man, not the core, the prayers, the eternal reality. Remember the ancient maxim: as we pray, so we believe. The opposite is also true: as we believe, so we pray. HENCE, our worship is NOT secondary, at all, or indifferent to our Faith, our spiritual vision and outlook as to WHO GOD IS/WHO WE ARE/HOW WE COMMUNE with HIM. Thus, the above videos point to a very great chasm between the heavenly, reveled worship of God, which is timeless and eternal, but shows forth in the One Church, and the changing, cultural conditioned worship found among many Protestants.

1. Chanting is NOT UNIQUE to Easterners. Many reformational churches also chant. Some Eastern Orthodox churches have also used musical instruments to accompany them singing. You can easily browse "Greek Orthodox Church with Keyboard Instrument" on KZbin. The use of musical instruments in the liturgy is NOT UNIQUE to the reformational churches. 2. Protestantism is a system, NOT an ecclesial body. Churches adhering to this system include Moravians, Anglicans, Lutherans, Reformed, Credobaptist, etc. They all affirm the apostolic teaching preserved before, during, and after the reformation. Similarly, Ecclesialism is a system, NOT an ecclesial body. Churches affirming this system include: - Genuine/True Eastern Orthodox - World Eastern Orthodox - Various streams of Oriental Orthodox - Old Believers - Assyrian Church of the East - Ancient Church of the East - Roman Catholics - Sedevacantists - etc. Each of them believes that their church alone is the one true church, and those other bodies are anathema. 3. Charismaticism is also present in Eastern Orthodoxy; you can easily find it in the St. Symeon the New Theologian brotherhood and other similar interjurisdiction societies of priests and laities. Fr. There is a right way and wrong way to worship God. The first “worship” video shown is man centered concert with a “Christian” theme. Read Romans 12, Paul tells us worship is a living and holy sacrifice of our bodies as a spiritual service acceptable to God. The people in the video, though they may have a zeal, clearly lack knowledge of God’s word. Psalm 19:2 specifically teaches against that… Christianity is a religion, but is the the ONLY TRUE Religion. Don’t try to make Christianity into a new age “spiritual” thing.

Why are there so many immature people in the comments? If you’re Orthodox, Catholic or Protestant - we all should act Christlike and not compete on who “worships the best”, there’s something really spritually immature about that. One could argue that the Orthodox and Catholic churches feel more heavenly (and I would agree on that), but worship is not only singing in chrurches, it is also serving others and, of course, we can sing in worship in other places like in our homes, on the streets, etc. But most importantly, God looks at our hearts and not necessarily our surroundings, when it comes to worship. All I see (from both sides on this video) is Christ-believing people who worship their Creator and Saviour. Our boast is in Christ, not in ourselves.

@@Don_C06 and ? You read the English without knowing the context of anything - so you aren’t an orthodox Christian and so you won’t know that the English translation is a mistranslation A quick look into the Orthodox Study Bible, though, will show you that Jeremiah 17:9 (Masoretic) is not in fact Jeremiah 17:9 (Septuagint); it is, rather, Jeremiah 17:5 (Septuagint), which reads in the Greek as follows: βαθεῖα ἡ καρδία παρὰ πάντα καὶ ἄνθρωπός ἐστιν καὶ τίς γνώσεται αὐτόν (The heart is deep beyond all things, and it is the man, and who can know him?). When we examine the writings of the Fathers, this holds to be true, as this is the text that they comment on. Their commentary, then, focuses on Christ. As an example, here is an excerpt from Against Heresies by St. Irenaeus of Lyons, which includes the verse in its proper translation: "For this reason it is said, “Who shall declare his generation?” since “he is man, and who shall recognize him?”But one to whom the Father who is in heaven has revealed him knows him, so that he understands that he who “was not born either by the will of the flesh or by the will of man”is the Son of man, that is, Christ, the Son of the living God. For I have shown from the Scriptures that no one of the children of Adam is as to everything, and absolutely, called God or named Lord. But that he is himself in his own right, beyond all people who ever lived, God, and Lord, and King eternal and the incarnate Word, proclaimed by all the prophets, the apostles and by the Spirit, may be seen by all who have attained to even a small portion of the truth. Now, the Scriptures would not have testified these things of him, if, like others, he had been a mere man. But that he had, beyond all others, in himself that pre-eminent birth that is from the most high Father, and also experienced that pre-eminent generation that is from the Virgin, the divine Scriptures do in both respects testify of him."

I say this out of love and concern, and don't wish to be rude, but I don't think it's right to say that only the Orthodox church allows for people to be transfigured by Christ (which is what seems to be implied by saying the first group is only emotional for Jesus). Many people's lives have been transformed by Christ in other denominations outside of the Eastern Orthodox church. Even if you think the first style of worship is not ideal (which I frankly agree with to an extent) it doesn't mean Christ isn't working in these people. If you want to say that a more liturgical style of worship is more akin to what the apostles practiced and is more reverent, please go ahead and do so! But do not deny the transforming work of the holy Spirit in others in the process.

Orthodox church is the church that Apostles build. Αnything else is heresy. The orthodox church still produces saints and has miracles, which are from God. Even in this difficult time that we live in and the global leaders are preparing the way for the Antichrist. And the apostates want to create pan-religion to further mislead the world and worship the beast. If you are not baptized, you do not confess and you do not receive communion of the Immaculate Mysteries, which is the Blood and Body of Christ, there is no salvation. May God bless and guiding you.

True in some cases, maybe in many cases, but also undeniably true than too many Protestant 'flavors of the day' cheapen, bastardize, corrupt, and even mock the original intent of the church. Many Protestant denominations damage the brand and mislead their flock. It's not just about liturgical styles, in many Protestant churches there is almost no resemblance to traditional Christiantiy, it looks more like cheap spin offs of spin offs, it's all going to fail. Come home to Orthodoxy and start a great North American Orthodox Christian tradition that is already well underway. Be a part of it.

Yup! 1. Chanting is NOT UNIQUE to the easterners. Many reformational churches do. Fr. Eusebius Stephanou, Fr. Timothy Cremeens, and so many other priests.

It's because a majority of internet orthodox and catholics were once atheists so they're still bringing their atheistic proud zeal to our faith. They don't have the humility to understand and accept that they are infants of the faith and they still require breast milk, so they bash others who have been on the narrow path for much longer. Orthodox christians in real life do not act like this at all because they understand we're all on the same team. These new converts clearly have satan working in their lives trying to confuse and divert their focus from Jesus to inter-denominational feuds. And the proof is there because they act like bashing protestant Christians is bringing them closer to Christ. Mark 9:38-41 38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” 39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.

Who was St. Porphyrios addressing this statement to? To his own people. But here we are posting this on the internet as if everyone is on the same page. To me there’s no true love in this post but the spirit of pride, arrogance of the internet world. Lord have mercy on us all.☦️😔 To continue the quote posted of St. Porphyrios on page 94… “These are things the other religions do not know. The ultimate aim of our religion is that they may be one. Here the work of Christ find completion. Our religion is love, it is eros, it is enthusiasm, it is madness, it is longing for the divine. All these things are within us. Our souls demand that we attain them. For many people, however, religion is a struggle, a source of agony and anxiety. That’s why many of the ‘religious minded’ are regarded as unfortunates, because others can see the desperate state they are in. And so it is. Because for the person who doesn’t understand the deeper meaning a religion and doesn’t experience it, religion ends up as an illness, and indeed a terrible illness. So terrible that the person loses control of his actions and becomes weak willed it and spineless, he is filled with agony and anxiety and is driven to and fro by the evil spirit. He makes prostrations, he weeps, he exclaims , he believes he is humbling himself, and all this humility is a work of Satan. Some such people experience religion as a kind of hell. They make prostrations and cross them selves in church and they say, we are ‘unworthy sinners’, then as soon as they come out they start to blaspheme everything holy whenever someone upsets them a little. It is very clear that there is something demonic in this. In fact, the Christian religion transforms people and heals them. The most important precondition, however, for someone to recognize and discern the truth is humility. Egotism darkens a persons mind, it confuses him, it leads him astray, to heresy. It is important for a person to understand the truth.”

This also goes for the building you worship in, the words that are being spoken, the songs, the physical movements you make, the things you smell etc etc. I mean it's still amazing and beautiful to see an entire stadium worshipping jesus, but it's also still suboptimal. It would be even better if all these people would be in a giant well designed church with a massive altar and all performing ortodox rituals. Orthodox Church may not follow modern music and style, but it does follow that of the 11th century. So in the 11th century it was following the culture of that time and has remained there. I’m neither Protestant, Orthodox…or Roman Catholic, but the Protestant looks more authentic while the orthodox looks very religious, traditional, and archaic with people in costumes and a lot of extra bells and whistles. I don’t see why one has the moral high ground, when it’s the intention that matters.

Wrong. 1. Chanting is NOT UNIQUE to the easterners. Many reformational churches do. Fr. Eusebius Stephanou, Fr. Timothy Cremeens, and so many other priests.

If they are not against us, they are for us. God rejoices in people who follow him. How we treat our brothers and sisters in Christ and honor his holiness, pleases him. Galatians 6:1-5 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. While I respect the historical roots and intentions behind ecclesiastical hierarchy and liturgical practices, we must critically assess whether these structures inadvertently recreate the very barriers to God that Jesus dismantled. Jesus critiqued the Pharisees for erecting man-made barriers between people and God through elaborate traditions (Mark 7:6-8). Similarly, when church leadership or sacramental systems suggest we need human mediators beyond Christ Himself, it risks overshadowing the direct access to God that is central to the Gospel (1 Timothy 2:5). The New Testament celebrates the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:9), affirming that every Christian has direct access to God through faith in Christ, without additional human-made requirements. While structure and tradition can enrich our faith, they should never become prerequisites that make God seem distant or inaccessible. The simplicity and immediacy of our relationship with God through Christ is the heart of the Gospel.
