I used to work in a furniture mfg. Co. Once these machines are set up they will sew forever with nothing more than a needle change. There're solid as a rock. It's usually something very simple. Keep your knee off the raise pad while sewing and don't be afraid to mess with the tension.

Really great video. I have a problem with my Juki LU-1509N sewing leather with bonded nylon, where stitch looks fine top and bottom, except 1 stitch about every 6 inches approx, you get a slight loose knot on the top. I will look into whether I can get a backlash device because it does not use bobbin cases.

My tension on my juki 8700H slide out of the hole when I'm tring to sew. I took it apart and the little rod inside is bent slightly. My thread is breaking too! Its a new machine I bought from Gold star. Had for maybe a year or two.

I really like this video !! If my material puckers , does that mean I need to loosen the tension? I sew on really light material like tulle and satin . Thanks
@Sewinggold3 жыл бұрын
It could be the thread tension and or the pressure on your foot. It can be a combination of both too.

When sewing Jeans with Denim (medium to heavyweight) on an industrial machine, Should the bobbin tension be loose or tight? What should the thread tension be, loose or tight?
@Sewinggold3 жыл бұрын
The bobbin tension will always feel looser then the main tension on the machine.

Hey I just picked up this machine but mine doesn't sound like yours, how did you get the machine to sound so sturdy, mines a bit clicky? do you have a calibration video for the 8700? I might need to adjust my footer pressure.

What’s the correct needle for the 8700H? DPx5 or 135/5 or 135/7? Recently purchased a new 8700H and the extra needles are wrong size (DBx1)? Needle that came with the machine has a 2.0mm shank diameter and DBx1 needles have a 1.63mm shank diameter. I’m guessing the 8700H uses the DPX5 and the 8700 uses the DBx1 needle system?
@Sewinggold3 жыл бұрын
DPx5, 135x5, and 135x7 are the same class. They are the correct needles for a DDL-8700H. The DBx1 is for a DDL-8700.

I have a Juki Walking foot machine and I use bonded nylon all the time. I have backstitch probliems. Would a backlash bobbin case help and do you know if Juki make one for this model. Thank you
@Sewinggold4 жыл бұрын
I cannot say it will fix your issue for sure, but I think it should help, but I do think it will help. Juki may make one that will fit your machine but nothing specific for the DDL-8700H. We stock an aftermarket bobbin case with the backlash clip that fits your machine.

Hi Steve I just got a Juki 8700H. What kind of thread do I need to buy to sew vinyl and do I need to use a Teflon presser foot?
@Sewinggold4 жыл бұрын
You can use T40 to T70 thread. We recommend bonded nylon or bonded polyester for vinyl. A Teflon foot is a good idea. We stock Amann thread and sell the Teflon foot too. Thank you.

Thanks for the awesome video. Very useful. Could you please tell me what to do about the same issues with a machine like the 5550-4 which has the second upper tension knob because of the thread cutter. How does that one play into the overall tension? It does have an effect but I'm having brain freeze from confusion as to what to do with that one when upper thread is showing on bottom for example. I tinker with it and have quite different results but not consistent enough to figure out if I need to tighten it or loosen at any given moment. And google is no help :( Thank you for your time

@Sewinggold4 жыл бұрын
There really is no walking foot attachments for an industrial sewing machine. At least none that I know of. I have seen household high shank attachments that are sold for an industrial machine. I would not use them. Use a Teflon foot for starters. You can even get a roller foot, plate and feed dog, but that would take an adjustment to the presser bar and feed dog.

Hi Steve! Quick question. Do you see a noticeable difference in build quality between the Juki machines made in China in comparison to the ones made in Japan? Thank you!
@Sewinggold5 жыл бұрын
When I compare a Juki DDL-5550N made in Japan to a Juki DDL-8700 made in China I see very little difference. They share the same specs.
@MWPdx5 жыл бұрын
A place I used to work had both types. In my opinion, there was definitely a difference in the fit/finish but it never caused any functional issues or anything. I know I preferred to work with the 5550's though (just felt nicer).
