I think the reason your horn sounds like that is because one of the horns stopped working. They have a dual note horn system, your low note seems to be broken

I was thinking the same thing. A good example of a functioning horn on an ‘02 Crown Victoria can be found on Saabkyle04’s channel. In his “Short Takes” video, he honks the horn at the 0:59 mark. It’s got the same high tone, but also has that low tone this one is missing.

Great vid but you missed some huge details. The 98-02 Vic’s have a different frame and suspension setup then the 03+ cars. In the 2003 the Crown Vic’s got rack and pinion steering and hydro formed frames for better performance. The 98’-02’ cars have the old school recirculating ball gearbox steering. That’s the biggest difference between those 2 cars. Edit: grammar

5:00 - I have to laugh at myself. The first day I brought my CVPI home, I thought the headlight dimmer wheel was one of those headlight sentinel controls, and that the wheel controlled how many minutes the headlights stayed on before shutting off on their own! 🤣 So here I am, excited as hell about testing it out, after the sun went down, and I’m in the garage with the headlights on, engine off, doors locked, keys in my pocket, cellphone stopwatch app going; waiting to see how long it would take for them to go off on their own! 🤦‍♂️ Well, I waited and watched them for five minutes- like a frickin’ cat staring at a mouse hole- and nothing happened. Good thing after 5 mins I went back, unlocked the door and shut them off myself. Imagine if I had just gone in the house assuming they’d turn of eventually? (Well... I suppose they would have automatically turned off sometime in the middle of the night. I think they call that a dead battery!)

I love my 2007 Ford Crown Victoria P71! Today it is in outstanding shape. Even though it has 185,504 miles and 6,136 idle hours. Over the last five years I've owned it, I have rebuilt the transmission at a premium Speed Shop for $3.8K. Water pump, alternator, starter, rear axels, and rear wheel bearings, all with lifetime warranties. Intake manifold, injectors & coils. This car sat in a body shop for a very long time. The front and back doors on the passenger side do not match the vin#. No frame rust, but my next project is to replace both front quarter fenders and a new paint job (it is white, so it will stay white. Right after I had a new set of "W"(168mph) rated tires installed. I took her out for a run. Yes, the P71 isn't the fastest thing off the line, but at 155mph she makes you feel like you're only doing 40mph. She just sets down on the road and goes, All around my neighborhood people have these new cars and SUVs, yet I know, for a fact, that I could chase each and every last one of them right down into the junkyard and still drive away. Not even these newer cop SUVs/Trucks would stand a chance in a durability test. It is truly the beast of beasts. I'm so proud to be the owner of such a clean example of the 07 Crown Vic P71

I bought a 2000 model. It still has the shotgun holder in the trunk. It pulled to the right. I checked for looseness of the wheels, vertically, horizontal, nice and tight. Had it aligned, tracks straight. They had replaced the headlights, aimed way too low. I didn't have a wrench to fit. I bought a flat head 6mm bolt, with the hex socket. I spun a not all the way on, snugged it with a 10mm box end wrench, then added a washer and another nut to secure it to the wrench. I had to cut the excess length. It fits the adjusters. So far, so good, it drives nice and solid, corners without body roll. It's a silver car, I think it was originally a state trooper car, but was sold by Greenville County. The guy who sold it to me decided to sell, because his son kept getting tickets.

I Have a 2010 CVPI SAP with 66766 on the odometer and 280 idle hours, it was delivered from Texas and was a CBP car,but has no owners manual when should I have the transmission serviced? Is it now or never? The fluid is clean but over the full mark
@flyer2359x
@flyer2359x 5 жыл бұрын
You should get the trans serviced ASAP and every 30k thereafter. Don't do a flush, just a normal service which is a trans fluid change (not flush), clean pan and filter change. The 2009 to 2011 Vics have Mercon LV and are considered "lifetime" fluid which is BS and just causes premature trans failure.

The difference in the gear shifter operation, smoothest/roughness etc, is due to the updated column design in the upper steering column in the 06, has nothing to do with the transmission.

thank you! that is what i was saying!! it is a better design because the older design ford used forever had issues with shift tube bushings and sometimes these 2 torx screws under the dash that connected the shift linkage would come out over time and both issues would cause the shift lever to either be very loose or sloppy.

I like the older gauge cluster. Older ones has a volt meter gauge. New ones just have a light that comes on but if your alternator goes out by time the light comes on your car is dead. The older ones if the alternator goes out you can see it on the volt gauge and get somewhere to pull off too before it dies.

Wrong. When alternator voltage falls below battery voltage the light comes on INSTANTLY. It's called differential potential. You're more likely to see a red light pop on before you ever devert your vision to the gauge needle. I have warning lights on all my cars (some with gauges too) as well as on my oil pressure systems, which also have a redundant 100 db beeper. Saved one engine so far.

I have a 98 Vic, and have to say, the horn on your '02 sounds like a clown car compared to mine. On the other hand, mine doesn't have heated mirrors or a lockeing fuel door. Also, about 2/3 of the instrument cluster lights seem to be burned out, part of the slider for selecting which mirror you want to adjust is broken, so it doesn't lock into place, & it has the Ford infamous issue with the windshield wipers parking upright when they are switched off.

The older has more options, 2003-11 have a far superior suspension in my opinion. They drive differently, the newer cars don't wander as much (quite noticeable on gravel) and the turning radius is smaller. If I had the time and money a suspension swap onto a older car would be the ultimate.

I love my 06 P71, black on white. It has the transmission to handle my aggressive driving, and it was the first year after Ford fixed all the electrical issues on older models, fuel tank issues, rims bending since 06 and up was new steel rims, and also the Kevlar bullet proof doors being an option, which my car has as a plus. You can check it out on my Instagram. instagram.com/invincible_rage I hope you like the ride Mr. Random. I call it "The White Stallion" because it's a unicorn and rare. I bought it for around $3000 in great condition with the rare low miles 104,334 and low idle hours (971 hours) from a body shop that was using it as their office vehicle for getting parts and transporting paperwork. It used to be a Highlands County Sheriff's Department patrol car here in Florida. It has had its issues along the way now that I put miles on it. Nothing on the engine. Except for the usual intake manifold leak, which is causing a bad idle, stalling, and trouble codes on the throttle body, like a rev limit, because of the leak to protect the engine. But the leak is so small, it only leaks down to the minimum cold fill level on the reservoir. Which means a simple coolant leak sealer will fix it. I'll let you guys know if the sealer fixes the issue in the future. Also, the usual parts that break on these cars finally broke after 15 years, but I fixed it and it is still going strong, engine running great, other than a little rough idle from the coolant leak causing a vacuum, but even with the leak still strong at 134,000 and some miles and idles hours still low (1167 hours). I'm pushing it to 500,000 miles and beyond, as far as it can go. These cars were built to last. To bad manufacturers don't build cars that last like this anymore, unless your name is Toyota. I mean Ford cars don't have the same reputation they use to, like the Panther cars.

@Thomas63r2
@Thomas63r2 4 жыл бұрын
The only real difference on the 250 hp CV is that it uses the air box off the Marauder. It has more plenum volume and the snorkel size at the core support is twice the size. I found one at the junkyard for $18

The 2005 CVPI was the ONLY Crown Vic that was made with an antenna on the qtr panel. It was also placed only on the passenger side. Cool vid tho....

I don’t believe the 02s had antennas in the rear trunk area, they were integrated into the rear windshield. An 05 grand marquis did have an antenna mounted in the rear passenger trunk area, i don’t know about the 05 vic though.

I once had a 1997 that was built for off roading it had skid plates a slight lift ect. It was 721$ but that was back when 2k would get you anything you wanted at a state auction. Now you need 10k to even play even the old vics go for 3.5+ that is if you can even find one at auction anymore I miss the old 80s diplomat with the 440 and the caprice And the 1996 c9 caprice with the corvette lt1 and electronic Speedo that car was ill

I have the 2003 P71... It has the Aluminum matrix drive shaft rated to 150 MPH and the newer front suspension... It also lacks the top speed limiter the 2005's and up have (when they deleted the aluminum matrix drive shaft). And yes the '03 was the one that exploded when hit in the rear. They left the console in and the emergency rear yellow light bar for my safety. The trans is a little sluggish but shifts solidly. I sometimes drive fast, but don't do burnouts or race... it's fine for an older guy like me. Ford just replaced the LCM in my car for free. So yes the 03 was the worst Interceptor when it was new, but it had the most recalls and fixes. On the downside for my 2003 it weighs in at 5945 lbs and gets pretty crappy city gas mileage. and it has 15 less HP stock than the 2004 and up... But the '03 is still fast and it has a theoretical top end of 150, not the computer limited 130 MPH. Also on the downside the '03 has a ridiculous warm up cycle, where it races lie crazy to preheat the cats for a few minutes. Then it takes another minute or two to properly pressurize the lifters on cyl 4 in cold weather. The better the oil, (higher film strength) the longer it takes to charge up the lifter. After about 5 minutes... the engine is smooth as silk. (Ever wonder why cops never turned their old P71's off?) With the stock rear and stock Goodyear tires, my car won't move in snow. And some fat cop crushed the hell out of the driver's seat padding. Lastly the steering might be just a little too responsive. As to radio reception, the antenna in the rear window is only marginal at best and the factory radio is nothing to brag about. On the up side... the car loves to sit in bumper to bumper traffic and idles forever without any issues with it's coolers and the car has no issues playing in the fast lane with exotic sports cars. The ride is a little harsh but in turns it handles like it's on rails. And at 3 tons, short of a tank, this is about as safe as a car gets. So, I like my P71, even though I hate it's fuel mileage... It's a nice car for someone who wants performance but doesn't fit into a tiny sports car. And it's a really tough car. But if you really value ride and comfort and fuel economy go with the civilian model.

The 5934 is not the actual weight of the car - that is the gross vehicle weight rating when fully loaded with people and gear. Depending if you still have push bars or other options your car should weigh less than 4,000 lbs

@@Thomas63r2 The P71s have a beefed up frame and heavy doors, but I otherwise couldn't explain the extra ton over the standard Crown Vic, your explanation makes a lot of sense, thank you.
@Thomas63r2
@Thomas63r2 4 жыл бұрын
Its a common mistake for people to see the GVWR and think that is the car's unladen weight. Just take it across the certified weight scales in your city, usually cost $10 to $15 for an official weight certificate. I have used certified weight scales when setting up drag cars, most operators will even allow you to place just the front wheels and just the rear wheels on the scales so that you can verify the weight distribution front to rear. I am not aware of different part numbers for either the frame or the doors - they are the same.

@drezzy2747
@drezzy2747 5 жыл бұрын
Yes they do.. but the CVPI trans is tuned by its computer to shift faster. Also known as aggressive shifting. So you can put a P71 trans in a Civilian P74(LX model) and the P74 computer will have it drive like your old trans.
@phogandivephogandive3885
@phogandivephogandive3885 5 жыл бұрын
@@drezzy2747 It's nearly the same, civvy transmission has a shorter tailshaft to go with the longer steel driveshaft, P71's get longer tailshafts and shorter aluminum driveshafts, P71's also get slightly smaller, higher stall torque converters, 11.25" diameter instead of 12".

4r70w is actually pretty stout. With jmod, converter, and cooler, people are putting 600 through them and into the 9's. I currently have about 450 ftlbs to the tire through a 4r70w and it loves it. Now what the 70w hates is downshifts. Great for digs. rolls and manual downshifts, not good.
