Tbh too bad you feel this way cause I genuinely enjoy wyvern, I intentionally don’t parry and go with the chase sequence cause I lowkey find it kinda fun dodging the missiles. But it does suck movement is limited. You can’t even perform a cyloop. Also break through it all is such a banger, it’s amazing workout music. And tbh you gotta admit, this boss fight is better than any other boss fight we’ve had across all sonic games, maybe except dark gaia even though all your criticisms are true.

The broken parry is what ruins a lot of segments in this game for me. In the rope minigame you just have jump once and hold parry in air until you win. They should have added this in the difficult options. Easy you have 15 seconds parry; normal down to 5 or 10 seconds; and Hard mode make parry the moment you receive the attack.

Honestly though, if you just ignore the 15 second timer and tap the buttons, the timing is actually super fair. Sonic stays in position for about a quarter of a second even if you let go early so it's quite consistent too.

This boss is similar to the first phase of Doomsday zone. You’re essentially chasing down the flying enemy as Super Sonic and using its missiles against it.

After 210 hours of Sonic Frontiers. The game is JUST TOO EASY. Even on extreme mode. The game is just too easy, I’d love the parry to be at least 1-2 seconds. I even pondered if Supreme is better than Wyvern (which isn’t). But The End is def better than Wyvern. I didn’t feel the spectacle of flying around, i was just bored the whole time.

When I first fought wyvern I thought the parry was timing based, so I would end up parrying it’s attacks by timing it right, plus the sheer coolness of the fight had me awestruck, so I couldn’t complain, mainly because my head was filled with dopamine and adrenaline at the same time, at phase 2 I was just saying “what the fuck” and “oh my god” because it was so cool to me

I get what you mean man :D I've only done one playthrough so I've only fought Wyvern the one time. It was the coolest part in the game at the time and also the first time I heard 'Break Through It All' so I wasn't really thinking about what I was doing but I was loving it. I intentionally didn't hold parry even knowing it was possible for this boss, still the peakest of peak, even though all these fights are super easy and lack a lot of the challenge of fights like Biolizard, Dark Gaia, and games in the past. Like I'm sorry, but if we're going to criticize Wyvern we have to criticize the entirety of Frontiers' bossfights, literally the hardest fight in the game is the one that everyone complains about and that's the Galga-styled End fight. And really past the classics, BIolizard and like maybe Dark Gaia n some other Unleashed bossfights, Sonic bosses have never been particularly challenging... Oh and 06 bosses, but funnily enough those were challenging and people hated those sooooooooo

This fight is the best boss fight in the game though, the spectacle is peak, the dodging the missiles while travelling across the island is easily the best and coolest looking thing in the game and the design of the Wyvern and the concept is the most unique. The parry is an issue with the entire game, not just this boss. Giganto is more basic so it’s not better, Knight is too quickly defeated due to a higher level Sonic and more abilities, it may even have less health. Also the music for Wyvern is the best. It’s clear that the Wyvern is meant to be mainly the spectacle driven boss, which is fine since the other tree bosses follow the same format of Sonic being able to travel an arena and mixes up the style so it doesn’t get stale.

Knight is the best of all 3, doesn't matter if your level is high, knight require a lot more of tactical, literally you use plenty of sonic moveset better than wyvern. Even sonic grand slam is magnific. Sometimes knight can deflect his flying shield so knight is in overall the best boss in sonic frontiers

Dodging the missiles is probably the single hardest thing any boss has you do. Knight would be perfect if he actually used his projectile storm from the cutscene and maybe attacked you in phase 2 while you try parrying the shield.

I see a lot of what you're saying. But I gotta agree to disagree. Spectacle alone takes up half this fight and does it right for me. Its genuinely my favorite boss in the whole game. It's like a 3D Doomsday Zone. Chasing an ancient robotic dragon across the island it guards, the same island you spent hours trying to conquer, it just hits so right. The song, the sound design of Wyvern (that SCREAM). The cyloop animation, the different QTE's and parry-throw cinematic, ending with a massive reference to Evangelion. This isn't everyone's cup of tea, and it doesn't have to be! I just wanna throw in my experience with Wyvern, and how I really really enjoyed my many fights with it.

fixing the parry really is the only thing i would change imo. i dont think i have to talk about the sheer spectacle, i adore how you fly over the island. but i actually really liked the on rails flying that super sonic has. gives a star fox feel, but i can see why others wouldnt like it as much. on my first playthrough, i actually didnt know you could parry the missiles so i had a lot of fun dodging them and getting up to wyvern. everything you mentioned you thought was good, i agree with, and while i dont agree on everything you didnt like, i can definitely see where youre coming from.

Fun fact: if you miss the diving QTE and the surrounding missile QTE at the end, wyvern crushes sonic into the ground, or blows him up with missiles. Sonic doesn’t die somehow.

I dont care that it's easy. I like the fight enough thematically, story/lore-wise, visually and as a set piece, not to mention the soundtrack. It's a cool AF and fun moment in a cool AF and fun game and as an in-universe event definitely one of Sonic's most visually striking battles in the mainline canon, he's basically fighting a mechanical beast as Super over the island the universe's most sophisticated and intriguing race went extinct on, it's just amazing to play.

All of them are playable cutscenes, so my favorite would be determined by the visual design, music, and spectacle. Meaning Wyvern is my favorite. Was it a little dissapointing gameplay wise? Love this fight, but the Wyvern isn’t even a Wyvern. A Wyvern is a Dragon with two back legs and typically two wings. This ‘Wyvern’ is actually a Lindwrym, a Dragon with two arms and no wings

I think what they could do with the parry is based on the difficulty you play on, makes it so the parry is easier or harder to time. This would also make hard and extreme more difficult

For a bit, Wyvern was my favorite of the Titans but slowly that became Knight I know that the reason I loved Wyvern so damn much was not only seeing it for the first time but the music, the spectacle and more importantly, the immense potential Wyvern had to be the best Titan You are flying around the entire island you've been running around in for the last few days, it can clearly keep up with Sonic's speed (going up to space and back in seconds), missiles to either dodge or Parry, using its entire body to ram you away and more. I've been thinking : if Wyvern wasn't trying to evade Super Sonic instead of flying at the player, the fight would have been greater

@@DavidBlaiseSGaela That’s the thing, Wyvern is the Boss that’s carried the Most by Spectacle. It has literally NO unique mechanics or challenge. Just Hold Parry, Attack, and QTE ending. Giganto is almost the same but he Attacks more often and has his Mini Lasers/Laser QTE. Knight has his Saw Blade and Movement. Supreme has a Bullet Hell thing going on, you have to destroy a Prism before being able to attack, along with having to actually time the Parry when he sends the Yellow Missiles at you. Wyvern offers NOTHING when you look past the Spectacle.
