So gross! 😡 I went to a kidney dr. I was 18. He had me get fully naked. I was naive. He did a full Gyno type exam. Played with my boobs. Made inappropriate comments about how gorgeous my body is. Never once addressed what I was there for (my first appt with an “adult” dr as I just turned 18 and had always seen pediatric kidney Drs yearly after a kidney surgery I had at 13) I went straight to the police station. The cops THANKED me for coming forward and being willing to testify bc “I wasn’t the first attractive female to come in to report him but no one was willing to testify before me.” I was NEVER called to testify. He had to pay a small fine and was able to keep his license. This was 14 years ago and he’s still a practicing physician 😡😡😡😡 I’m in NJ. btw…He just became head of the nephrology unit recently 😡

I really want to post this as a warning to other women: if a man you’re dating has a social media dedicated to feminism/women’s health/respecting women, etc, be VERY wary of them. They’re often hypocrites who use their social media platforms to actually get more women/victims to abuse. I should know. My ex had a whole Instagram page dedicated to writing poetry about feminism and respecting women… He was so abusive and was the opposite of what he wrote about. Yet that Instagram page had so many women swooning for him, it allowed him to also find dozens of women to cheat on me with unknowingly and dozens of women to emotionally and physically abuse. So please be careful of men who portray how much they respect women and are feminists. Real men who respect women do so with their actions. They don’t have to make KZbin channels or IG posts about it.

Just a note: Sheathing (the act of removing a c*ndom without your partners consent) IS assault (this goes for both men and women) in the uk this crime is punishable by a prison sentence. Coercing someone into intercourse ESPECIALLY when there is a power dynamic IS assault and in some cases a prosecution can be made. Lying to your partner about being on contraception or having a vasectomy IS assault, they ONLY consented to SAFE s*x. In some countries this is a crime, though it is difficult to prove. Important info: if you have a cold sore on or in your mouth (you can get them on the inside of your lip as well) you can give your partner genital herpes if you give them oral. Please please please be super careful and wait until the scab has completely healed over to ensure you won’t give them genital herpes. ALSO. It’s time to start de-stigmatizing HSV. A lot of people have it and don’t know, because they’re immune system is generally strong enough to keep the blisters away. It doesn’t have to be embarassing, especially because you can get HSV1 without sexual contact. I’ve had HSV1 for almost my entire life, since I was 2 years old. I do have to be careful during flare ups, and admittedly it’s not as painful or uncomfortable as HSV2 can be, but it’s extremely possible to live a normal life. They don’t define you, make you dirty, or somehow lesser. You are still you. You just have to look twice before you cross the road. Edited to say this is NOT to downplay or invalidate the seriousness and the struggle that does come with herpes. That is a very real, very hard problem people deal with. That doesn’t mean most people don’t still view herpes as this filthy disease that only sexually promiscuous women get. You can get it from a loving partner who doesn’t realize what their coldsore can transmit. Or sexual assault. These aren’t their fault and no one should ever feel less than because of it.

So very very true! Some people have cold sores since childhood. It’s just something some people get and they’ve done nothing wrong. Even genital herpes can be from childhood, if the mother has it and happens to have a sore at the time of giving birth, there’s a risk that it can be transmitted to the baby. If it is known, the baby can be born with planned C-section to be on the safe side. I know someone who has this and her daughter was born via planned C-section as a precaution. The stigma needs to go away for both type 1 and 2, it’s just so common, and for those suffering with it, it’s hard enough during flare ups without being looked at as a dirty person by society…

I can relate. I know it’s easy to say, but focus on being a good person, and not one of these bad examples. Whenever you see a senior person do something bad, tell yourself “I will never do that when I’m eventually at that level.” There is implicit trust in medical professionals, which means whenever another “bad” medical professional ends up in the news for misconduct… it worsens the growing, public distrust. I don't mean to sound harsh but those unkind people you describe are also disenchanted. It's easy to look at the industry and feel hopeless and disconnected but you have an opportunity to make struggling people's life easier when other medical workers will make things feel harder for them. There's a sweet spot where you can show compassion yet not take every person's problems onto yourself. Basically- we really need some good people.

I feel dirty, disgusting, unworthy and unlovable. I know that most people who hear that will secretly judge me and think I'm gross (experienced it enough) and I know that I will lose a lot of romantic opportunities because of it. The thought of not telling someone I'm being intimate with makes me sick. I don't know how tf people can do this shit without being a psychopath. My story: - it doesn't matter how many times you say no.. or ask them to wear a condom or show how uncomfortable you are. People will rape for their own selfish needs. Yes.. after you tried everything. You feel trapped. I have let it happen. Laying there numb. Why? You don't know what else to do. You don't want to get hurt. Your body freezes. You are tired for constantly saying no. You feel trapped. You let it happen so that you can leave. Safely. It makes me mad. Why? Why me... you blame yourself. Whats worst is when you do bring it up. People will say things like.. Why don't you just run away? It is not that easy. Please..it is one of those things where you won't understand until you go through it. I want to put these people on a list of some sort to protect other people.

There is a HUGE difference between being raped and giving into someone’s persistence. The two shouldn’t be conflated. A rapist FORCES you, whether physically or removing your consent by drugging you. The guys that aren’t rapists but keep on pressing you to have sex? They stop after you very forcefully tell them no. Yell at them, curse them out, stand up and leave immediately etc. Should you HAVE to do all that? No. No means no. But I’m gonna choose standing up for myself over hoping he finds the decency to stop himself every single time. If you don’t have the courage to stand up for yourself, just don’t be alone in a room with a guy you’re not gonna have sex with, because they’re gonna try it.

As a general rule of thumb, anyone who pushes to have unprotected sex without prior history of using protection with you is a higher risk since they are cavalier with STDs and pregnancy. Everyone likes to think of being special, but in reality, the person pushing for unprotected sex on initial encounters is more than likely a carrier. Additionally, it is common for rape victims to try to convert the rapist into a real relationship to protect their minds from accepting they were raped.

Part of the tough part is really putting someone else in your shoes when this pressuring occurs People think about times they talked someone into something or their awkward encounters growing up and try to imagine they consented in some way. When it's clear and obvious from the facts they couldn't have made informed consent as they didn't know about the std And without experiencing it themselves the people reading their story won't understand how awful persuasion is from someone you respected in some way

I had R* dreams every night for years until talking to a therapist about it and the therapist telling me that it was R*. It stayed with me and haunted me. @@nikkis7375 R is a murder of the soul. In many ways, it is worse than murder as one has to live the rest of their life managing the damage. In rare cases does the perpetrator pay the price of their crime. Often it is those loved ones surrounding the victim and the victim who pay that price. The victim needs to work very hard to continue a normal life AND they have to heal themselves so they don't pass on the trauma. So, framing the R as a misunderstanding or consensual in some way is an attempt to take back the power that was stripped from them. The mind works in funny ways. Ultimately, it will do whatever it needs to do to help you survive. Thank you for being strong and rightfully putting the responsibility back on those two vermins.

There are anti-viral meds you take which prevent the outbreak or lessen the severity if it's already started, and anti-viral creams you use which rapidly heal the blisters. I went to south korea around 2019, and I got a cold during my 10 days of stay. We went to a pharmacy to get medication, but instead of getting the over-the-counter cold medication we usually get in North America, the doctor gave me 3 medications, and none of them I know the name (cause its Korean). If I remember correctly, I think he gave me one for sore throat, one to improve my immune system, and I think the last one was like a painkiller. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is, even if there's a medication for it in North America that doesn't mean the medication is prevalent in other parts of the world. They also have their own pharmaceutical companies in their own country, that provide a different set of medication that provides what most of their population needs. Also, based on the video, she probably didn't go to the doctor sooner than you thought.

as someone drugged and assaulted and then finding out I had herpes after this trauma (not knowing who the person was cause we were at a party and he had drugged me, blindfolded me, and kept me at his apartment for 3 days) this really hit hard. I checked with my other partners and none of them had it and even went to go get tested and found they didn't have it so that meant my r****t gave it to me. I have HSV1 on my genitals so he had a cold sore and performed oral. My parents brought me to the doctor when my first outbreak was bad and that is how I found out. I had to tell my parents, both mom and dad, that I had herpes, but I didn't tell them about my assault. I was ashamed cause I was recently single and had just moved back home. My first outbreak was so bad I could barely walk, I ended up getting an infection from the open sores all over my genitals, front and back. I had to go back to the doctor because my infection was so bad and the doctor shamed me for not cleaning the area better even though I was screaming in pain just from him slightly touching it. He also told me that if it had hurt this bad I should've gone to the emergency room and that I needed to not be so loud otherwise other patients would get uncomfortable. I was prescribed oxy and my step grandma ended up having to take care of me. I had to use her walker to get around, she gave me one of her night gowns to wear and I had to wear a diaper because of the discharge from the blisters. When I peed I had to have a cup of water and pour it down my front so it would dilute my urine and it wouldn't sting so bad. Every time I tried to take a bath to soak and clean myself getting into the bath I would scream in pain and was shamed by her because she lived in a condo so she was worried her neighbor would get upset with her. I was on a meds schedule. I took oxy and acetaminophen every 6 hours and then ibuprofen every 4 hours. Even with these meds I was in so much pain still. I wanted to die it was so bad and mentally I was internally struggling because I hadn't told anyone about what really happened. I was humiliated and beaten down. Now whenever I have an outbreak I get a little fever and sometimes vomit and that's a good sign to tell me that one is starting. I also ended up telling my parents what had happened for real and my best friend who's house I was at when it had initially started. I joke about how there's a virus I have to live with for the rest of my life just chilling at the base of my spine waiting to come out and party just for funsies, but in reality every time I have an outbreak (usually 5-6 times throughout the summer and 2-3 times in the winter) I die a little on the inside from everything I went through. I couldn't finish your video, but I am glad that this is being talked about because Herpes isn't just a cold sore disease its something that affects so many people in such a traumatic way. There is another side too of being a female and having children while also having herpes, but I've said so much already I think I will stop here.

While it was devastating to me at first, I have found that over the long term, it is a minor inconvenience on my life. Who would rather go to another room and quickly take care of their urge than ever do anything with you that you aren't happy to participate in. Who will stop immediately no matter what if they notice your discomfort or if you indicate that you don't want to do something. Who thinks it's sexier to see your genuine reaction than for you to put on an act in bed and make faces or noises that are put upon just to please them because that's what society said you had to do (consensual, pre-discussed roleplay with a safe word and negotiated soft/hard boundaries is different and very much ok as long as everyone involved fully understands and consents.) The kind of person who will laugh and not be upset if you happen to pass gas in the middle of it 😂 and who will learn grounding techniques and how to support someone when they have a flashback or dissociate, just to make sure they can help if/when you need it. Wow. He's such a nasty douchebag! My heart really goes out to the victims. Unfortunately, I also know what it's like to be "talked" into having sex when I already said no a few times. Learning those statistics about medical professionals getting away with sexual assault makes me so angry. Meanwhile, addicts in the same field are getting years in prison for supporting their habit. There's something horribly wrong with this picture. Thank you for another outstanding podcast episode!!

I used to suffer from abdominal pain that no doctor could understand why. So when I was in a crisis again, I went to a doctor and as soon as I sat down he look at me, look at my file and said "25yo... I am 50, so just a 25 year gap"... I didn't know what to say and I was a bit confused and was thinking if I did heard it right. Then he asked me what was my concern and I explained to him and he asked me over and over if I was pregnant and I said no, and he asked me how could I know that... basically wanting to know if I had sex or not. Then he said to lie down so he could examine me and when he was touching my abdominal area, he was just saying "hmmm". I was petrified. I didn't know what to say and what to do. By the end I did wanted to file a complaint but I knew if I did it, no one one believe me, people would have said I was interpreting everything wrong and I was afraid I was so I just didn't do anything. That's why it pisses me of when people say "why didn't she do anything or say anything" when women get SAed... because we know people won't believe us.. specially when it's doctors or people in the medical field. And in my country, they protect each other. And I know what happened to me was nothing compared to other people, but it kinda made afraid of being alone with a male doctor. I don't want it anymore. I avoid it at all costs.

Hi there, I’m an MD and just want to clarify that canker sores are not the same as HSV-1 sores (aka cold sores). Canker sores are what you get when you accidentally bite your inner lip, cheek, etc and they are not infectious. There’s a lot of confusion about this, with many people with canker sores thinking they have HSV. On another note, love this new channel btw! Can’t wait to watch more videos!

Yeh. She made quite a lot of medical errors when attempting to explain STIs, transmission risk etc. Herpetiform lesions is the term used for rash that look like herpes but it does not necessary mean they are caused by it. Etiologically (the cause) can be varied and may in fact be harmless and quite common. Genital herpes is often caused by HSV2 but more recent trends mean that more and more are also caused by HSV1 (whilst being HSV2 negative). Clinically however (as it relates to symptoms), it is often indistinguishable (in some people they cause very severe and disabling symptoms and/or complications). Swabbing and PCRing a blister with fluid or at the base of the blister (ulcer) is most accurate in acute settings. Serology (or blood testing) often becomes positive at a later time, but can be used in non-symptomatic carriers (who can still transmit the infection; at a rate of

This reminds me of what happened in my university. There was a teacher who forced students to sleep with him to have better grades and without a condom. 69 girls came out with this story. The teacher gave them hepatitis B (incurable disease). They told the press that he had access to a list of students. Before school started he would search on social media how his students would look like. During the school year he would send them DMs telling them how pretty they looked and insinuating they had to sleep with him. He was fired from my university and he tried to apply for a job in other universities but they refused because of his crimes. He eventually hired. This disgusts me so much. Like dude you forced girls into having sex with you and you gave them an incurable disease and you aren’t even condemned …

This teacher sounded like he's on a revenge rampage to spread to other girls because he couldn't accept the fact that he has this incurable disease, so he passes on his illness on to others to 'lessen his anguish' cos many others would be in the same plight as him. It might be the very same case as this selfish pharmacist. Since they can't cure, they spread.

Hearing you say, sometimes you just let things happen because after saying no so many times, it feels like the only safe way to get out of the situation breaks my heart because I’ve been there too one too many times I still deal with that even at almost 35 years old, but I’m learning how more often to say no and not back down even when it’s uncomfortable. Far too many women are put in these situations and we’re so scared that we just do things we don’t really want to do and then afterwards we feel awful all because we feel like we’re going to be hurt worse if we don’t give in. I feel so sorry for these ladies. I knew a girl once where the first time she ever had been with a man She got herpes because he didn’t tell her that he had it and I remember her drunkenly confessing that to me one night and just sobbing like it’s a lifetime thing I pray for miracles for them I really do.

i live in seoul right now. from my perspective there is a huge disparity between the more conservative over-culture and the real s*xual activity going on. everyone is doing it, but no one is talking about it or being upfront. the amount of men who REFUSE to use protection is absolutely astounding. i was even told that "STIs are a foreign thing, Korean guys can't get them..." (which, i'm a foreigner. if you're thinking of being with me, isn't that even more reason to wear one...). these misconceptions and secrecy are so dangerous for STIs and ass*ult, and the threat of shame is just overwhelming. if something bad happens to you, it's almost worse to admit to your activity than to just hide it away. don't even get me started into the victim-blaming culture here. i was told if any man comes into my house - the landlord, delivery guy, cable guy - leave the front door open. if you close it and something horrid happens, the authorities can claim that 'you knew what would happen since you closed the door'. thank you for covering this Stephanie!

This video has really taught me that it is NEVER worth it to bend over backwards for a man that isn’t even giving you the bare minimum, let alone HURTING you. This hit really close to home for me because, in my own life I’ve had an experience with a guy sexually harassing and almost assaulting me yet I stayed by him because I minimized the situation in my head and forcefully convinced myself that it was a misunderstanding and that he wasn’t trying to make me uncomfortable. In the end we stopped talking because I stopped reaching out to him first. After the fact, I found out that he had a girlfriend and another girl on the side (that he was also probably hurting), as well as sexually harassed one of my friends. It’s painful and it’s NEVER worth it. These type of men FEED off of being charismatic in public and buttering you up with compliments but the second you’re alone together it’s like they’re a completely different person. Please listen to me when I say it’s never worth it. They don’t even think of women as people. My heart literally BROKE when I heard that one of the girls made him homemade porridge after he made her a victim and he had the audacity to yell at her and not open the door. NEVER put in more effort than the other person. If they don’t respect you, they don’t deserve your respect back and they’re probably hurting other people at the same time because all they care about is their own gain. Please never ever minimize yourself or force yourself to take care of someone who is hurting you. They do not deserve your care, and most of the time they don’t even NEED your care, they’re just seeing how far they can push you.

And these doctors said "Well it's perfectly legal, I did nothing wrong." and they'll even have *STUDENTS* all crowd in the OR to all take turns "practicing" these pelvic exams. I don't get why people are being outraged at the comments for saying something that is true. Unless it's masterbation sex needs to be mutual. The women regardless of them being carried away or not by who he was their health and personal well being is their responsibility. 1. If the woman did not consent why didn't she go to the hospital and request a rape kit and file a complaint against him? Clearly there would be a wealth of DNA for a conviction and the first one could have saved other potential victims. 2. These weren't just one off events if after the 1st time you get creep vibes why continue to talk to or entertain this individual? They all keep having multiple sexual episodes but complain of being weirded out before, during and after the sexual experience. Like this doesn't feel right, let me block this guy or takes steps to limit his access to me and vice versa. 3. Why are you even showing up at someone's home or allowing him to come inside? Seems like it's simple, get out my house, call 911 report an intruder. It's funny how stranger danger goes out the window when the person in question is good looking and seemingly affluent. They had many ways and routes to persue to stop his behavior. Before the sisterhood of traveling pants come after me for victim blaming, yes I am, women shouldn't be shielded from negative criticisms and logic. Stop normalizing trash women and their trash, irresponsible behavior. They messed up, he is wrong, lots of blame to go around..

Ahahaha. You look like the kinda guy who pretends to be a feminist to get laid. 😂 If you go participating in risky behavior, don't be surprised at the outcome. Men and women who recklessly have casual sex (either with or without protection) run the risk of catching STIs, including the incurable ones. Play stupid games, play stupid prizes. I don't feel sorry for anybody here, but the man should definitely rot for not informing his partners of his infection. Also, what you SHOULD consider is this is what risk you take when you have sex; period. Your own partner is not even a safe bet if they caught something because THEY WERE CHEATING ON YOU. Also, this basically proves why women should be armed at all times. If you're armed, men like this won't fuck with you. Simple as that. stop turning this into a sexist problem. I just started following you and I love the fact that you bring cases to the forefront that might not normally be told. I also love that you talk to us as if we were just cuddled up in your living room and you are telling us a true story! But most of all I ❤ the fact that even in the roughest, disgusting, hurtful, deplorable and, heart-wrenching stories... You have genuine empathy for everyone. Even those that don't truly deserve empathy. Thank you for bringing yourself to us and for opening up yourself to bring us these very difficult stories(but important ones!!). Congrats on the engagement and up coming wedding!!! I send love, light and, nothing but blessings to both of you!! From Minneapolis MN❤

Wow, this is a horrible guy. He's such a cruel person to treat his fans like s*x toys, rather than people. Always be sure to get tested for STDs after sex with a new partner and use protection!

How about std test before having sex. Prevents it altogether

Who would actually get tested after every partner? Even so, your partner could be negative but later on positive if he chooses to sleep around behind your back. Are u gonna get tested after every time? It's just mentally exhausting to constantly worry and most people would just brush it off since it isn't such a common disease and often overlooked cos most people won't get tested.

Its not just the usa or korea either. Here in Brazil recently we had a famous case of a doctor who would rape unconscious patients, i think it was discovered to have made more then a 100 victims. And he was only found bc one of his victims got pregnant after, and cause she woke up in the middle of the assault. (Like, after he was finished)

@@AkiBadKitty sued, fired, got prohibited from working on the medical field ever again and got 35 years in jail as far as i know. He had anesthesiologists who were accomplices and ratted him out for like 120 something of the crimes. (30 years bc Brazil doesn't have lifetime jail sentences, but per cumulative sentence he would've gotten 250 something years I've heard)

I remember when there was a disgusting video going around. While a women was giving birth (caesarean) the doctor was forcefully putting his genitals into the womens mouth while she was unconscious due to the anaesthetics. The amount of anger and rage I was going through while reading about this made me sick. WHILE SHE WAS GIVING BIRTH? I hope that doctor had his license stripped off of him.

Oh bless her 😭💔💔💔 her crying during that clip was so sad, this is so tragic, she deserved so much better than this! I hope both of these women and whoever else he was doing this to, all find the person they truly deserve, who will understand that this wasn’t their fault and love them the way they deserve ❤️

I was raped in a similar situationship to Alice's. I was 17 at the time, funnily enough, studying to go to University and be a pharmacist. Luckily he never transmitted anything to me. I am very open about the rape and it sorta gives other people permission to talk about their stories with me, I know a woman who has herpes bc of the rape and it's just so heartbreaking. You already feel violated and "dirty", you already have a trauma for life, and then you get a constant reminder which show ups often when you're the most vulnerable?! Like immune system can be weakened during chronic stress, rape fcking gives you chronic stress. And I consider their first ever sexual encounter a rape. She was drunk, there was pover imbalance, she didn't want to have unprotected sex, ect. And he raped her multiple times after. As a person studying this stuff, he definitely knew. I dropped out of university for now, but I still want to be a medical professional if I can, just in a different country someday. And there are a lot of things making me angry in that story, but also the ethics, I know it's the least of the problems, but damn, ethics, misinformation, using white coat as a "shield"... It's disgusting from multiple stand points.
