The internet chain letters one was very life relatable. I remember growing up I would get audio recordings randomly on messenger and when I played them it would say something about someone named Carmen Winstead. I found it creepy when I was younger but now I just delete or ignore the message.

If I remember correctly the Grinning Man Picture is based off an artist interpretation of a West Virginia cryptid/legend called Indrid Cold or the Smiling Man. It’s actually kinda interesting as Indrid Cold is supposedly an alien that came to earth to learn about the human race. A few people encountered him and encounters of him are supposedly still happening to this day, the most famous one is in 1966 (around when Mothman was being spotted) where he appeared in front of Woodrow Derenberger from his “unidentified vehicle” and telepathically spoke to Woodrow of his name (Indrid Cold) and why he was here, and promised to meet him again. It was also in this encounter that Indrid spoke about his alien origins and said he wish no harm and only happiness. I think too Woodrow spoke to John Kneel about his encounters and he mentions Cold visited him several times and his family and friends even met Cold and his alien companions since Cold apparently bring his alien friends to meet Woodrow on his family’s farm, mentioning how Cold thought Woodrow as a friend.
