Very nice project. I suppose it is ready by now. Just a few observations, if you don't mind: 1. Always use conduit for wires, mostly when they run outdoors. If something goes wrong and they get on fire, the fire will be extinguished by the lack of oxygen and the materials in the conduit. 2. Always use eyelet connectors at the end of the wires and mount all of the same potential eyelets in the same spot, if that is possible, and protect them with a layer of non-conductive grease. 3. Always use automotive heat-shrink tubing for outdoors wires. It is that tubing that has a layer of soft plastic inside that gets melted and spreads outside of the tube itself when it shrinks. This thin layer creates impermeability to almost everything. Cheers!

I've built a few trailers over the years and helped various friends build theirs. If I build another one, I may use that truck bed liner stuff instead of paint, at least look into it. I've watched some videos in which guys paint their vehicle with it. To me, it wouldn't be worth it on a trailer if it's way more expensive than paint, but if it's only slightly more expensive, it may be. You do great work! Props to you.

Hey Man. Cool idea maxing your bits of old paint for a base coat. I like that. Nice work on the trailer. Thanks for sharing. 🍁👍👍

For tool boxes , I always , would use liquid nails and cover the interior box walls with 1/2 inch CD grade plywood ! This stops ALL the metal to metal 'banging' that occurs inside and also acts as a shock absorber for all the items that bang around when trailer is being pulled !!!

Excellent build!. I would not have used the terminal block and I would have housed the wire in some loom. Otherwise I like the design changes you made and love the beaver tail design.

Have watched all of this build, GREAT JOB. Love the attention to detail. I do have a question, why did you choose to build the bed frame with the back of the channel on the inside?
@unitedstatesofbuild4915
@unitedstatesofbuild4915 4 жыл бұрын
I ran it that way so the chain pockets and crossmembers would have a flat surface on the inside of the frame. It also allows a hook to be attached anywhere along the side of the trailer. And lastly with the light plates slightly set back in the channel they dont get bumped, scraped off or damaged. Thanks for the comment!!

Great job! I like the way you changed the design and yet it looks and works as if it was originally designed as is! How much time have you put in that project? I'd like to make one on a smaller scale. Do you have an idea of the weight? Thanks!

I spent a lot of afternoons and evenings on it. Its one of those projects that wouldve only taken a week if I could have worked on it nonstop but when you only get a few hrs here and there it adds to the duration. I was estimating it at 3400-3900lbs. What do you think it weighs Joe?

Awesome video as always. Question, is there no chemical difference between a "primer" paint and a "top coat" paint (re: rustoleum)?
@unitedstatesofbuild4915
@unitedstatesofbuild4915 4 жыл бұрын
The real difference is oxides, beyond that youd probably need to ask a chemist😉. I havent ever had any type of negative reactions when mixing. Thanks Amy!!

With the way that wind was blowing, I'll bet every one of your vehicles were covered in overspray. And using that cheap accelerator it was dry as a bone before you would have a chance to clean them up.

@@unitedstatesofbuild4915 didn’t mean to sound condescending or be a troll. I’ve been doing paint and body for 37 years. Several years ago, a guy I know decided to paint his dozer outside. Needless to say he oversprayed 3 of his neighbors cars. The overspray bit into to older paint. Buffing with My harshest compound couldn’t take it off. Had to repaint all three.
@unitedstatesofbuild4915
@unitedstatesofbuild4915 3 жыл бұрын
That's one of those 'once of prevention' scenarios. To be honest Id be surprised if there was even a paint product left in California that was capable of that level of performance. Anyhow John I appreciate the story and thought. Happy spraying, be safe out there

Won't the paint just come off if you're painting over rust? Also won't it continue to rust beneath the paint? Seems like you would need to sand blast, or sand the rust off....
@unitedstatesofbuild4915
@unitedstatesofbuild4915 4 жыл бұрын
The rust wasnt loose, it was wire wheeled and pressure washed beforehand. Rust needs oxygen and the paint wont allow oxygen contact. If you were concerned for a personal project you could hit it with a 'rust convertor'. Thanks for watching!!
