For people like me, the Doobies have been and always will be with a big part of my life. The first concert I ever went to, 1972 the Doobie Brothers at the Paramount theater in Seattle WA. I will never forget the chills when they came out and Tom starting playing the opening guitar riff to "Listen to the Music". At my age I feel blessed that they are still with us playing music and doing well. I was just checking out there website, their Discography did not even include one of their best albums IMO anyway. If you are a Doobie's fan and have never heard their album " Sibling Rivalry"- please do so....its freakin great!! :-)

So many wonderful songs from the Doobie Brothers. Thanks to the internet and youtube for allowing us to view and newly appreciate the skill so many of these groups have. Back when this music came out, you were lucky to actually see the bands. I did not go to concerts, mainly bought albums (from Columbia Records monthly deal!). And FM radio of course. Now, we can more fully see the wide breath of music these classic groups produced, and keep producing.

Tommy! Awesome composition (wow), vox rocks great as ever and the band, fan-freaking-tastic!! Hey, we met back in '93 at Chicago House of Blues/Girlfriend & I bought you a beer after the show/One of your sound crew introduced us. Told ya 'Listen To The Music' was one of the first songs I learned on guitar. You were like "Cool!" (hah). Anyway, I'm happy for you guys still rockin' it the way it was meant to be. Planning to catch either your Chicago or Nashville show later this year. 😎🎸

Wow I would love to be the second drummer they've always had two drummers for the most part but anyways I love your music and because you know Jesus is just alright with me
@adamlasko3152 жыл бұрын
The Doobie Brothers have always had two drummers plus a percussionist from (1977-1982). In 2016, they decided to go with one drummer & a percussionist for their live performances. I agree, that featuring two drum kits on stage provides a wall of sound that is both rhythmic & powerful with the backbeat and the fills. The Doobie Brother, Allman Brothers, .38 Special, Grateful Dead, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Talk Talk, and Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band all featured two or more drummers on stage. Believe it or not, Journey had two drummers last summer for a few months, and it was awesome.

The Doobie Brothers Is Folk/Rock. Michael McDonald Pop/Soul/Jazz. I don't understand it.
@CWS19632 жыл бұрын
Doobies are also R&B long before McDonald, every doobies album had a Motown cover. Tom Johnston is s big motown lover loves his rythm snd blues, mcdonald grew up on rythm and blues, more common ground there than not. McDonald was just keyboard driven where Johnston is guitar driven. The folk aspect comes from Pat Simmons, and the real jazz influences were from Jeff Skunk Baxter. He took the music onto more complex places, McDonald really didnt even like, that's why skunk left, McDonald was not happy with that direction and it was skunk out or he was leaving.

voices still good, iconic, musicianship totally there, classic harmonies, the beat, guitar breaks and solos .. why are these songs so boring? a little too much studio and corny songwriting .. like the work they did on LaHaina, better than this whole album .. not givin up on my Doobies but I hope they get better songwriting .. The Doctor was formula writing too but somehow captured the real Doobies better
